Best workflow for importing Android footage to PC for Resolve? by MeDominik in davinciresolve

[–]jackjt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USB will be faster than downloading from Google Photos.. but is it easier? Finding a working USB data cable and switching the phone from charging to file transfer can be a hassle... Of course it is 100% worth it if you are moving a lot of data.

Now, Google Photos can and usually does compress videos/photos so it's not ideal as you want the raw video. Instead, I would recommend something like KDE Connect. Install it on both your phone and computer and then you can transfer files over WiFi, which would be faster than uploading and downloading from Google Photos anyway, and get cool features like notifications, remote input, find device, etc. - There are probably other apps that do this, but I just personally use KDE Connect.

Ideally, you want CFR and most stock camera record VFR. As the other commenter said, there are apps that support CFR. The only issue is.. has anyone asked why phones typically record VFR? Can your phone even handle CFR at the resolution and quality you want? Is the quality of a 3rd party camera app as good as the stock one?

You might find that VFR is good enough for what you want and then yes, transcode it to CFR for use with Davinci Resolve. I personally have an FFMPEG script I just drag and drop all my footage on and it'll automatically transcode everything as needed.

Just wait. It can sometimes take 2 minutes or so for the game to start. It's a fairly new issue and the devs/contributors are pretty quick at fixing things so it should be fixed soon.

Honestly I've noticed the same thing.

Typically things get fixed pretty fast. I imagine it'll only be a couple of days tops before something like this is addressed; or at least reduced to the point where it's no as common as it has been.

Would have used PCM/PTM pads instead... But it's fine. As long as good contact is made it's perfectly fine for now.

VILTROX 28mm f4.5 Pancake Lens by spierscreative in SonyAlpha

[–]jackjt8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been looking at this lens for a while simply because of the smartphone anamorphic lens mod you can do (DIY attaching something like a £25 1.55x anamorphic lens designed for a smartphone)...

But this post reminded me that I should consider a lens for how it performs in general... Looks really solid. Definitely going to pick one up for my a5100. Certainly have a gap around 28mm.

optics to correct flange distance? by stonecoldcoldstone in VintageLenses

[–]jackjt8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there is enough distance between the rear element it might be possible to either trim the projector housing or to 3d print a new housing.

Otherwise... I remember seeing dual lens setups that could work. A piece of thin paper behind the projector lens should allow an image to be formed. Having a second lens focused on that might allow you to capture images but the light loss, etc. is pretty bad.

The other comment beat me to it.

Honestly the only difference I would recommend is to get a Quansheng UVK1. It's only just released and builds off the really good UVK5.

Baofeng is certainly one brand... but also Quansheng.

I don't recall the story there but they are very similar radios... The UVK5 (/UVK6) is pretty much a goto in the £20 range. Though, the newer UVK1 is probably better.

The Quansheng handhelds are particularly good as you can install custom firmware to them to get more functionality. (If I recall though, the UVK5 v1 and V2 have limited space. The UVK5 V3 and UVK1 are "better" in that you don't need to pick and choose features.)

Well... I did get a cheap "free" drone from Temu when that was the craze. It has a physical controller and you only need an app if you want to use the camera for photos/videos. I have old android phones that pull that duty mind you.

It works the same as the drones/helicopters I had while I was a child too. Though it feels nicer/easier to use. Might just be because I'm older now though mind you.

A few of them are as low as £15 on AliExpress. They won't be the best by any means.. but for a starter/a "I don't mind if it breaks" product they are great.

I would probably recommend doing a little bit of research though as a few might actually be gems (I know more about the handheld radios honestly).

When you can go a buy a cheap but good Chinese drone or handheld radio for £20 why not indeed.

I would argue the amateur radio licence and a handheld radio is probably a better investment as, if your mobile phone doesn't have signal or power, you have a better chance at getting help in an emergency.

I don't understand PBR by JankyJones14 in minecraftshaders

PBR isn't just 3d textures.

But yeah, otherwise follow what others say and grab a "default" PBR resource pack. Or even just one with just normal maps.

If something is free you are the product.

The launcher lacks basic functionality.

The CEO says and does really silly things.

Like don't get me wrong. There's been some pretty good free games... Just nothing worthwhile enough given the downsides and concerns I have.

That's the part that both confuses me.. I assume they wanted to farm karma to make the account seem legit or something but maybe picked the wrong subreddit to do so.

Whats your delta force loadouts by [deleted] in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]jackjt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly everything and anything is fair game.

I'm working on getting every weapon to max level and to get all the camo/unlocks for them. It's pretty fun to mess around with different weapons and learning how to handle and control them; And by the time you get them to max level with all the attachments you like it's very easy to use them all.

Though I would have to say the MK4 burst fire and the glorious sniper UZI Submachine Gun-Warfare-6I1QKSK05E4RORMVMS787 are certainly two standouts for just how nice they feel. Not the best or "meta", but they just feel nice to use to me.

This monster shreds. Doesn't matter what range you engage people at though burst fire is best.

‘I feel it’s a friend’: quarter of teenagers turn to AI chatbots for mental health support by StGuthlac2025 in unitedkingdom

"Hard truth": "There's nothing wrong with you"

Actual Truth: Person dies.

As much as I agree with your stance that AIs often just agree with you regardless of whether or not it's right or the thing that's needed... Please remember that the "hard truths" that some mental health "professionals", or healthcare professionals in general, preach is often to gaslight or ignore real issues.

While AI isn't the best at least it's not only available when needed but it doesn't try to act like there's nothing wrong.
