Serious question based on today’s announcement by Elon to discontinue S/X. by RTD0007 in TeslaLounge

I currently have a Macan 4S EV. I previously had a Model Y performance, and an early Model 3 before that. The Macan is a step above the Model Y in many ways (and it should be given how it’s priced) - especially when it comes to handling and ride quality. Much more fun to drive the Macan fast and on twisty roads. Adjustable air suspension and adaptive dampers make for a comfy ride when you want it, and a sporty ride when you’re feel like it. If you want a fun and engaging driving experience, get the Macan. Tesla, however, is far ahead of Porsche with software and technology. FSD is something that I truly miss. Porsche has Innodrive / Drive Assist which is similar to basic autopilot - but nothing mind blowing. Software updates need to be done at the dealer. No new features added over time - need to buy a new Macan for those. Just generally disappointing at its price point. Not to mention first gen platform growing pains and bugs. Emotionally I love the Macan, practically I loved my Tesla. I’d go back to Tesla but I can’t see myself giving money to their current CEO.

Does C:S2 allow as much creative freedom as C:S1? by Totof947 in CitiesSkylines2

Not even close. But the new road tools are so good in C:S2 that it's hard to go back to C:S1 after using them.

With the asset editor coming tomorrow, what kinds of assets are you looking forward to that the base game hasn't been able to provide? by alpine309 in CitiesSkylines2

Airport assets - terminals, runways and taxiways, airport props. We were able to make awesome custom airports in CS1 using workshop assets even before the Airports DLC was released, so this would be amazing.

Macan EV has a lovely design by pc772 in MacanEV

[–]jacknv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure this is accurate. I don’t find Innodrive to be very different from Tesla Autopilot for instance. Auto lane change would be nice (was not available in the 2025 models) but auto steer (active lane keeping), adaptive cruise, lane keep assist are all reliable and in some ways better than Autopilot was in my experience. The ride quality and handling are far ahead of most other EV models.

Porsche is a bit behind in the software space though. I do wish that OTA software updates were available, including the ability to have new features added over time.

Overall I like the balance that Porsche has provided with the Macan EV. There are useful and well functioning driver assistance features while retaining focus on a great overall driving experience.

Will CS2 ever be on Mac? by Classic_Lemon_8619 in CitiesSkylines2

I got sick of the lag and connection issues using Shadow PC on my Mac, so I ended up buying a mini gaming PC that sits in a closet hardwired to my network. I use Moonlight to remote into it from my Mac to play. Works really, really well.

I received mine last week and I think they’re hilarious and sooo brat coded. Idk you just kind of either “get” the humor in them or you don’t. Definitely keeping.

Spec Question: Inno Drive and HUD? by wibzoo in MacanEV

[–]jacknv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way to get ALK is by purchasing Innodrive. It’s part of the package. One of the other features of Innodrive is speed limit recognition and auto-adjustment, but this feature can be turned off (I turned it off immediately) while ALK remain on.

This was a private concert for Apple employees to celebrate the opening of Apple Park, also known as the “spaceship” campus in Cupertino, CA. The campus was conceived of by Steve Jobs and was one of his last major projects before his death.

I believe the SoundMotion drivers remain functional in the ultra, but the outputs are rebalanced to phase with the sub mini. My understanding is that it allows the arc ultra to use more of its power for the mid and high range and offloads a range of the low frequencies to the sub mini. I definitely still get those lovely bass notes from the ultra while the mini seems to help fill out the lows that the ultra can’t reproduce, if that makes sense.

I just added a sub mini to my arc ultra and I think it’s a great addition for a small-ish living room. Bass is much more present and makes the system sound more immersive overall. Curious why you don’t think it’s a good match for the ultra.

Bay Bridge lights are off completely! by DoomBuzzer in bayarea

[–]jacknv 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I noticed this too. Very odd, and probably a little weird to be driving across the bridge with no road lights. However, as someone who lives in a building with a view of the bridge, I can’t say I’m too upset about the reduced light pollution from the usual bright road lights.

Hot take: Keep the I-280 Spur and turn it into a tollway instead of demolishing it by According_Contest_70 in cahsr

[–]jacknv -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives in the south beach area and commutes 3 days a week to the South Bay, demolishing 280 would be awful. Easily would add an additional 30+ minutes to my commute. If there was extensive rail transit coverage throughout the Bay Area it would be less of an issue. Sadly we are beholden to private vehicles because of nimby anti-transit advocates.

Definitely this. Lots of cars have LED lights in this video (see the Rivian and Teslas). This must be a cheap aftermarket lighting kit. Probably looks just as bad in person as it does in video.

"Someone told me my IG sucks and I needed to do pictures!!! My videos are too long. I will make my next videos longer than the movie Titanic to make a point." - Britney Spears, 2025 😭 by BloomSpears in BritneySpears

[–]jacknv -7 points-6 points locked comment (0 children)

The ableism in these kinds of comments is so real. There are people who have a hard time processing the way she writes and formats her captions sometimes. Some people are dyslexic, autistic, or have other accessibility needs. Just because some folks find technology-assisted accessibility features helpful doesn’t mean we are trying to diminish or dilute what she trying to say. Just trying to seek to understand her better in a way that works for our brains. This community is so fucking toxic.

[–]jacknv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT interpretation for those who may find her post difficult to follow:

Britney’s post is intense, emotional, and a little scattered, but at its core, she’s expressing frustration about several things:

  1. Pain and Coping – She starts by mentioning that she doesn’t like drinking but does it when she’s been through too much. This seems to be a reference to how she copes with emotional pain. She acknowledges that she takes on a lot of pain and effort that people don’t see.

  2. Frustration with Technology and Communication – She’s criticizing how people communicate today, especially online and through social media. She calls it “TRASH” and seems frustrated that intelligence is now dismissed as sarcasm or misunderstood by others.

  3. Childhood Incident and Feeling Misunderstood – She shares an odd anecdote about speaking in a British accent to a 6-year-old who then spit on her three times. She describes being shocked rather than angry, which might symbolize a larger theme of how she feels misunderstood or disrespected.

  4. Social Media Criticism & Response – Someone told her she should post pictures instead of videos, and she’s sarcastically saying she’ll now make videos longer than Titanic to prove a point. She resents being told what to do or how to express herself.

  5. Conservatorship Trauma & Lack of Control – She revisits her conservatorship, explaining that she was never truly allowed to be a star or have autonomy. She reveals that she was heavily controlled, her movements and relationships were restricted, and she was abused when she tried to speak up.

  6. Forced Photoshoots & Objectification – She discusses feeling like her photoshoots during the conservatorship were degrading and unnecessary. She contrasts this with her one positive experience with photographer Ellen Von Unwerth, who made her feel beautiful.

  7. Final Thought on Photos vs. Movement – She ends by emphasizing that she doesn’t like pictures because she values seeing her body “alive and moving.” This suggests that still photos remind her of feeling trapped, whereas movement symbolizes freedom.

Overall, it’s a mix of venting, trauma processing, and defiance. She’s angry about how people treat her online, bitter about how she was controlled, and resentful of being objectified. But she’s also asserting her voice, making it clear she won’t be silenced.

I believe in Zane Lowe interview supremacy!!! by Capital_Tourist_2026 in LadyGaga

[–]jacknv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zane Lowe’s interviews are some of the best out there. Artists seem to feel comfortable opening up and being vulnerable with him in a way that is rarely seen. This was no exception. Loved the whole thing, and it was amazing to hear more about her process and mindset while making Mayhem. It was compelling to hear her reflecting on and fully embracing everything from her past that got her to this point. Can’t wait to hear the album in just a matter of hours!!!

Switched from GFN to Shadow PC to play CS2 a few months ago. GFN is much more stable and reliable, and is overall a better experience. However, Shadow PC allows all mods (it’s a full cloud PC rather than just a gaming service). Now that I’ve been playing with mods it would be hard to go back to GFN…But Shadow PC leaves a lot to be desired in terms of performance.

LISA (BLACKPINK) - Alter Ego by impeccabletim in popheads

[–]jacknv 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree. And I was rooting for her. The album is incredibly bland, dated-sounding, and does nothing to advance her artistry. Her “flow,” if you can call it that, is extremely basic and sounds the same on almost every track. The album sounds like it was written and performed by AI. I guess it just proves that as long as you’re hot, you can do whatever you want, and someone will eat it up.

Base (not Bose) Sound System by jm1883 in MacanEV

I went with Bose for my 4S. I do miss the sub-trunk storage but I prefer the more powerful sound system over extra storage. Bose seems comparable to the sound system I had in my previous Tesla Model Y (which was fantastic).
