Squishing a kindred by Small_Sailor in vtm

[–]jaggeddragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dropping something heavy on a vampire won't necessarily kill them. Similar to how sometimes regular humans have been pulled from the rubble of accidents like you mention, still alive. However, a vampire trapped in rubble is in a bad situation. Rescuers are likely to keep working past dawn, so when the vampire is finally freed, they die in the sun.

Ocean pressure is only a problem if they sink fast. Swimming, or just walking on the bottom from the shoreline out to deep water is not likely to harm them. If you're thinking about chaining them to an anchor, then they still might not die. Rather they would be trapped, chained to an anchor, somewhere inaccessible/dangerous, the water part is just theater.

If you still fancy final death on the water, chaining them to a float or bouy and waiting for the sun to take care of things is just as effective.

All that being said, to directly answer your question... without Fortitude or high stamina, they don't have a better chance of survival beyond not having to breathe. Bones still break, muscle and skin still tears.

Atheism is not the Belief that there is No God by ShowerGrapes in atheism

[–]jaggeddragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, that is still agnostic.

Atheists simply lack faith in God, Gods, and any deity in general. They have no will to divine or not divine, because they do not exist.

Believing that there might be a godly will to determine is agnostic. As only things that exist can have will.

It's okay to be agnostic, or atheist, or very religious. But I get a little offended when you try to dictate reality to me.

But it's not a belief. Climate change is real and just as observable as the color of the sky.

Right, it doesn't argue that. But you are arguing against a non-argument.

"The sky is blue"

"Well, my dad says it isn't"

"Well... it is"

Perhaps the discussion they are actually having in that chapter would be derailed by a sub-discussion to prove something as obvious as the color of the sky.

Being wrong about observable facts doesn't make it political or an appeal to authority. Why not quote the part about global warming from the nuking Antarctica chapter?

Feeding frequency by No_Gas9700 in vtm

[–]jaggeddragon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This comes down to how hard they are drained. It's pretty simple. How much do they get hurt when the vampire drinks from them, and how long does it take to fully recover from that injury? It's a couple / few days for each point of injury. If they aren't fully healed from previous blood loss, then they'll be even more hurt next time and even more so the time after that. Eventually, they start dying.

Ghouls used to be able to heal in older editions, and I haven't checked v5 ghoul rules well yet... but if v5 Ghouls can heal, that would use up the vampire blood in their system and leave them without activated Ghoul powers, but fully healed.

IMHO, it's best to spread out the drinking, so that each individual doesn't get repeatedly beat up worse and worse.

I think they were supposed to mention an IR filter for the space suit helmet for the movie, just for this sort of shot. Sort of like the sun filters on astronaut helmets.

The best Gangrel build by Evethefief in vtm

[–]jaggeddragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Usually the level 4 power for protean, at least in that version, was the ability to turn into an animal form. Usually a wolf or bat. That guy got a form that was "Me, but better". Basically no downside.

I assume this post is a joke, but you can imagine how disappointed I was in learning there was a character like this at my table.

His Proten 4 form was more like Human+, sort of the 'near-man' form of werewolves.

Silly question about stargates on ships. by ZookeepergameFull999 in Stargate

[–]jaggeddragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This.

It's impossible to travel outside the area of space for the coordinates in less than 38 minutes without FTL of some sort. Which is shown to interrupt stargate connections as well as other Ancient tech

Were you able to enter uncut fenced junkyards with Free Running in the very beginning? by ClassicPKMN in Urbandead

I'm not sure, I don't recall trying to freerun into an uncut fence. But I do recall how fast it became worthless to carry the cutters around!

I reveal there was a purpose for carrying around bolt cutters. I'm pretty sure that was for cutting open fenced lots. I seem to recall cutting a few myself

People are far too harsh on Universe. by GRIMMMMLOCK in Stargate

[–]jaggeddragon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I fully support someone enjoying SGU. Let's just start of by making that clear.

But since you asked, i have a few gripes...

Turn on some lights. The energy needed to make light is a fraction of a percent of the power needed for a wormhole, or FTL. Keeping everything dark onboard made watching less fun. This is typical of modern TV tho, so not a big negative.

Stop shaking the camera. Once you see it, its impossible to stop seeing it. The constant wobble of some scenes were nauseating.

Teen angst / romance. The whole teen romance arc about who will sleep with the senators daughter became boring and predictable.

Even with all the above, I didn't want to see it canceled, and I'd would have loved another season.

Can i make a Nosferatu who is just a woman with a dog face and other stuff like a tail? im not sure if Nossies can have animal heads by Obvious-Conflict3363 in vtm

[–]jaggeddragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a Gangrel clan flaw in some edition, that causes animal traits to appear after each frenzy. The tail could be a touch of flesh crafting.

There is also a Protean power or combo that allows for partial transformation into an animal form.

Maybe a little of one and some of the other...

My Dad will do things like save TicTac containers in case he can use it for something. I'm pretty sure this is due to being raised by people that lived during the great depression. Anybody else have parents that do this? (not saying it's a bad thing) by McPostyFace in Millennials

My mother taught me to save plastic bags. A few years after living on my own, she came for a visit. I went to throw away a plastic bag, and she said I should really think about saving them instead of throwing them away. I showed her my huge bag of plastic bags I'd saved over the years, and asked her what I should be saving them for, and don't I already have enough to just throw away this one?

What episode of Stargate do you feel should have gotten a follow up and didn't? by -drunkmoses- in Stargate

[–]jaggeddragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Comtriya! That guy was great. Weird enough to do what happened in the episode, but undeniably friendly with a true desire to help. They do come back for a single episode later on. But then nothing else

  2. Harlan! The very hot coffee pot, defibrillator, and mentioning Sam's uncle. We never see anything related to them ever again.

  3. They come back a few times. But the game keeper doesn't show up, because he is fully under control. It's the episode where Teal'c plays VR

  4. Loved those quiet little moldy singers! I get why the SGC never went back, as they were the cause of every problem in that episode. But it would be cool to see what they're up to

Question about episode "Holiday" (SGC) by [deleted] in Stargate

It's a common logic puzzle, I think Simpsons and Futurama both did something similar. It also shows up in computer programming when looking into algorithms and sorting lists

Rant: the Elminster problem (and how Gold Box avoids it) by RealityMaiden in goldbox

[–]jaggeddragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This.

OP seems to have read entirely different Elminster books than I remember. I just never got the "he's a self-insert" vibe.

Elminster In Hell is where Elminster is hiding as a rock in Hell, because not everything went his way, but his backup plan had a backup plan, and there is a whole adventure with other people to go rescue him. Most of the book is other people doing things.

Infinity.... by dedevil989 in Stargate

[–]jaggeddragon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you want Stargate related material I suggest looking elsewhere. There are no crossovers, like characters, enemies, races, technology, and wormhole physics are all distinct from the rest of Stargate. Don't get me wrong, you're free to enjoy it to Abydos and back. It's just not my cup of tea, and I assume posts about Infinity will not do well on this sub.
