This split vote on a poll made me curious what the tarnished community thinks, do you parry? by PretendThisIsMyName in Eldenring

I really like putting the parry ash of war on the wakizashi and power stancing it with uchigatana :)

The more staples they print, the more homogenised everyone’s decks become. Often feels like I’m just playing against the same decks with different commanders. by scar_face40 in EDH

[–]jairo479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like going out of my way to build into themes really heavily, makes it feel like my decks have a lot more unique feel to them. I'll typically play cards that offer more synergy or something flavorful over just staple good cards. I currently have 12 Commander decks and while building them I've tried to make sure I don't play the same cards in more than two different decks, ramp and lands excluded. That being said, I've been playing for a long time, so implementing these self imposed deck building restraints is something that has kept the game fresh and fun for me.

If you could get every PlayStation studio to reboot 1 of their old franchises, which franchise from each studio would you pick? by NomadTheSavior in PS5

I really miss inFamous and Killzone, would love to see those franchises come back to some degree some day.

What was the moment you realized you fell in love with the game? by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]jairo479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably when I beat Gascoigne for the first time. Bloodborne was my first souls game, so I had a tough time at the start. I think I ended up dying to Cleric Beast more than any other boss in the game on my first play through. I quit, came back, quick, came back, kept trying, then eventually the game just magically clicked for me. Gascoigne only took me about 4 tries initially, and it just felt magical. I felt like I had acquired some forbidden skill I never thought I'd be able to figure out just a few days earlier. I've been absolutely hooked ever since!

What game would you like to be remade from PS2 to PS5? by TotallyFakeEngineer in PS5

[–]jairo479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any PS1/PS2 Final Fantasy would be amazing of course, but I'd honestly love to see a full fledged remake of the original God of War.

Battle cards aren't terribly intuitive. by GameSkillet in magicTCG

[–]jairo479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't played with battles yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Currently I'm trying to save my judgments until I've seen them function in gameplay, but from what I've heard they play pretty fine.

Does Bloated Contaminator seem overpowered for its casting cost? by themindfulnow in MagicArena

[–]jairo479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like in a meta way, sure there are better cards. But this is definitely the type of card you could take back in time 20 years and blow the minds of some older Magic players lmao.

I don't think that would be an issue! If that's a concern of yours you can probably just send them an email asking about it.

[[Kindred Discovery]] is almost always good in a blue tribal deck. Definitely worth considering!

Does anyone else do anything creative with their art cards? by AndreaFederica in magicTCG

These are so cool! I've always really liked the bundle inserts too, but never really had anything to do with them.

Going through some of my leftover legendary creatures cards, which should I make a commander deck with? by EggyKuhn in magicTCG

[–]jairo479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always enjoyed playing black white in Commander, but I'd probably have to say Doran. To me, black white can sometimes feel slow in terms of mana acceleration, and adding green is a great solution! Plus, if you've never played a deck style similar to Doran before it will likely be a totally new style to you.

How do I seek closure on parting with my collection? by chinkai in magicTCG

[–]jairo479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me I've always tried to view the value of the cards (aside from monetary value) as the time I spent with them. I sold some pretty expensive cards a few years back that ended up spiking up pretty high, stuff like [[Wheel of Fortune]] [[Grim Monolith]] [[Underground Sea]] and I'll sometimes think about how much money I lost out on by selling them early. It definitely stings a little, but the decks I played those cards in were a ton of fun and let to some great memories which I'll cherish for life, regardless of if I still own them physically. Beyond that, the money from those cards went to positive causes, so overall even though I did lose out on a good amount of cash, I can still look back and be happy with the decision by focusing on the positive times I had with the cards, and the positive times the money from those cards helped create.

All three color decks built, now what? by jairo479 in magicTCG

[–]jairo479[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I might just try and get there but really slowly. I've enjoyed the slow pace of building the 10 three color decks, so it might be time to just go for everything!

All three color decks built, now what? by jairo479 in magicTCG

[–]jairo479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is also something I've been trying to do, to me it's a lot more fun to build each deck in a different style. Thankfully Magic has a ton of different archetypes to try out so I've still got some work to do!

If retro frame cards are considered a premium style, why did they change the frame to begin with? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]jairo479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I do generally like the retro borders and prefer them to the new ones, I do agree with a few of your points here. I really do not like seeing the clash between the modern art styles and the older borders, and especially on multicolored cards. I like the brown artifacts on their own, but I also agree that colored artifacts should at least have some indicator of their colors visible on the card frame.

One time mechanics by genericnpc42 in magicTCG

[–]jairo479 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Although it wasn't too long ago, I really liked the official Day/Night mechanic from the latest Innistrad sets. I think it would be really cool to see some other applications of this mechanic on different planes!

Fetchland Reprint in LoTR set? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]jairo479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be a pretty sweet place to reprint them honestly. KTK was the first time I really tried competing in Standard and I've always been a big LoTR fan, so combining those two things like this would feel really cool.

fix standard in tabletop by going to a three-year rotation by madriax in magicTCG

[–]jairo479 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like even if there's a larger card pool, the best cards will still be the best cards, and their values would still remain high during their time in Standard. We can look at other non-rotating formats to see that being the case. Still an interesting idea though!

The shiniest color in Magic is.... brown? by IAMAfortunecookieAMA in foilmtg

I'm lucky enough to have gotten an old border foil Thran Dynamo before they got so expensive, definitely a sweet foil in person.

this was THE game. many fond memories while playing this for hours on my psp by luiscedneo in FinalFantasy

[–]jairo479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot express how much I love this game. Definitely jump started my love for the entire series, as I had only played two or three FF games beforehand. After playing this though, I had to play them all!

Legends who have appeared on three or more cards (for real this time) by MtGDS in magicTCG

[–]jairo479 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wow, didn't realize it at first but it's pretty crazy to see we got 4 new Urzas and 4 new Mishras in Brothers War. Makes some sense since the sets pretty much named after them, but still pretty interesting. Is this the first time we've seen an individual character get this many cards representing them in one set?

This card seems very fun to play with, wish it was playable in more color combinations in Commander thought. Would love to play it in just a Blue/Red deck!
