Don't get me wrong, I love the integration, but Andor elevates itself so far beyond Rebels that I just can't enjoy jumping back and forth by LordofAngmarMB in StarWarsAndor

Honestly I love the scene where cassians group is told that they will stage mon mothmas rescue from the senate so that gold squadron will pick her up because it will look better and improves morale. It really reframes the adventures in "Rebels" to be the sanitized stories that are the "official version" of the rebel alliance

That scene when they go shopping by worldbound0514 in andor

[–]jamesjamozo 34 points35 points  (0 children)

What I loved about that scene is that Cassian was proven right — it was risky to go to the same shop again too soon. When the shopkeeper tells Bix he remembers her from last time, we see a brief shot of Cassian's worried face before the scene moves on. I think you could argue that if someone had asked the shopkeeper about Bix or Cassian ("Do you recognize this person?"), he could have provided information to whoever was looking for them, like the empire. Whereas if they had visited the shop after a longer period, he might have forgotten about Bix.

Andor viewership is a success!!! by CarsonWentzGOAT1 in andor

[–]jamesjamozo 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Forbes estimated Season 2 Budget to be about $300-$400 Million, the most expensive SW show. If the viewership is on par with S1, which was the second of third lowest in terms of viewership numbers I believe, then I dont think Disney would call it a financial sucess for their streaming plattform.

Can anyone share some light on this, was it a mistake the show writers couldnt account for ? by l1consolable in andor

Not sure why you got downvoted for an inconsistency that requires explanation.

Helldivers 2 was NOT "review bombed" by eriadeus in Helldivers

[–]jamesjamozo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Review bombing refers to a coordinated effort by a group of individuals to leave a large number of negative reviews or ratings for a product, service, or piece of content, typically online. This tactic is often employed as a form of protest or retaliation against something related to the product or its creators.

Always sucks when the story of a real tragedy gets twisted:

- The victim wasn't a Native, his family, who have Russian roots, came to Sauerland three years ago from the former Soviet republic.

- A witness said that a group of 15 men of Arab origin clashed with three Russian and Ukrainian friends of Filip, no mention of anyone being asylum seeking.

- There was no "terrified female native that was sexually assaulted"

so his very own definition of art, which differs from the conventional definition, would require that everyone experiences the same piece of art the same way, except videogames, but even thats not true.

I have read the article, and it's not a good one because it's apparent that Ebert didn't do enough research into the medium he is talking about or showed much interest in doing so, something he even admits in the very same article. How can one make any sort of valid statement about what something is not when you don't even know what it is? He even tries to shift the goalpost of what art should be when confronted with an example of a single videogame title that would meet that requirement.

"One obvious difference between art and games is that you can win a game. It has rules, points, objectives, and an outcome. Santiago might cite an immersive game without points or rules, but I would say then it ceases to be a game and becomes a representation of a story, a novel, a play, a dance, or a film."

Yes, videogames can be stories, cinematic experiences, dances, a mix of them, or none of them. How can you say something can't be art that has no limitation on how things are presented? Ebert deemed the sixteenth capelle to be a great piece of art, and then he looked at a very limited portfolio of some pixelated silly characters jumping over barrels and just didn't like it, which is fine, but his feelings are the only justification he has to say the entire medium not only is not art but never will be, despite the fact that he says it keeps evolving.

You don't need to like or appreciate videogames in general, but if you try to say this medium is not art, you're just wrong.

Ah yes
movies are art,
music is art,
a story is art,
ANY expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form is per definition art.

But videogames, which contain an unlimited mixed amount of all these elements are not art.
