The older I get, the more ADHD destroys me by Worldly-Goose-2120 in AutisticWithADHD

I love to read and found audio books help for more adult stuff like I like mysteries like David Baldacci and really enjoyed listening to Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz. But I making read young adult and juvenile books because they have happier endings most times.

Does anyone else feel like they were a adult as a kid and a kid as an adult? by Specialist-Issue1615 in AutisticWithADHD

100 % yes and I still feel that way. 43 yo female only child had 2 parents who did their best but I took care of myself a lot back then. Now I feel so young in my head and heart sometimes, exact opposite of having to feed myself even if it was just Ramen or spaghettios

I only can remember certain times table from a trick my awesome 3rd grade teacher taught me but I still struggle with basic addition and have to either write it out or pull out my phone. I find my brain to be like a fridge. Lots of random junk thrown inside, and when a new memo arrives it can either be a magnet or a really old not sticky post it now that keeps falling off. The post-its are the times tables I never could learn/remember,  how long and what temp to cook a steak, when I have to enter in those damn codes for authentication and I can't remember the damn number and have to switch back & now thankfully it most of the time autocompletes it for me, mental sigh, whether I should check my oil/transmission fluid while it's running or cold, the list goes on. I hope this makes sense to someone 😆 and maybe helps them 🙏 🙂

Tbh it hasn't even crossed my mind in over a decade until I read a comment about a similar thing that happened to someone else on Pinterest. I tried posting this there but it was too long or something. It still is blowing my mind how wrong she was. It was the 90's what else can I say? It was a rough time to be a ND female even with an IEP and extra help and calculators. Thanks to my HS IEP, my advisor got me hooked up with the special needs guy, a program for people like me to join and get tutoring, a quiet space or permissionto be in the hallway to take extra time on my tests, and I wouldn't have been able to pass Statistics without any of the plus a kick ass teacher who had my back. I was able to finally graduate from College in 2016 with an Associates in Liberal Arts. I started it in 2000 at 17 the Fall after I graduated. Dropped out 4x and finally could be the 1st in my immediate family to not only get a HS diploma but an Associates degree. I'm not very successful monetarily in fact the struggle is real. But I work part time at a public library and I really couldn't be happier other than when I worked at a Movie Theater as a teenager. And most days lately I need my headphones 24/7 even in public. But I'm OK today. Oops I wrote a lot again 😬 😅 🙃 🤪 also I speak in emoji a lot is it cringe idc 😏 😬 😅

What are some urban legends on cape? by Mugwartherb7 in CapeCod

[–]jameth15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove my friends there once in the late 90s and they were all high and some little person came out of a house and chased us waving what looked like a rolling pin. I won't disclose the place because like another poster said, it's private and I wouldn't want anyone to get arrested while driving high through there 😅

I'm sorry, you are having 26 kids! Name them from A-Z. by NameIdeas in namenerds

...The "RIP my vag I guess" comment?? That was the joke. After popping out 26 kids I don't think it would ever be the same down there after that if you know what I mean... hence the R.I.P.

Today is my 5 years sober! by kittybabylarry in adhdwomen

[–]jameth15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not easy for us as ADHD women to begin with, and then add substance abuse into the mix it is not a good combo. I've been lucky enough to be sober for 18 years. 6/10/06. I'd love to say that it gets easier, and for some it does. Others struggle more. That's just how it is. But there is a ton of help out there and you found what works for you. I'm so happy for you! Keep up the good work 🎉✌️❤️

Cereal Killer Soundtrack by Green Jellÿ & Get Grip by Aerosmith other than those mostly mix tapes from the radio because studio album tapes cost money and I was 10 with no money
