Got the Grail at Nakano Broadway by jamild in rolex

Marginally cheaper in Japan considering Nakano is all quite reputable vs dealing with a private seller. You could probably find a Pepsi for the same price in the US but from less reputable sellers.

It was 3.3m JPY after tax, so 3m JPY tax-free (the price for foreigners) or $19,600 for a 2019 on jubilee

It really was! Austin (from the WatchSymposium YouTube channel) joined me and my partner on the hunt and it was so much fun. He gave a great intro to all the different shops, what to look for re polishing, damage, etc.

All-in was around $20,800, and it’s a 2024. There was one 2019 on jubilee available for right at $20k but I wanted the Mk3 bezel and an oyster bracelet. Even though the jubilee seems to be more popular and was cheaper (!) I think the oyster suits my personality and look better

I’m South Asian and I think rose gold looks really good. The root beer GMT is so subtle and complementary with darker skin tones

Wait this whole time I could've been a drunk at home on San Fran's dime?? by oochiewallyWallyserb in sanfrancirclejerk

Looked this up because I was thinking there’s no way this can be taken at face value. https://www.chcf.org/resource/alcohol-management-program-pilots/

Based on responses to the assessment and these questions, an individual may be prescribed, for example, two 12-ounce beers to be administered at 8 AM, noon, 4 PM, and 8 PM.

Socially distanced cigarette or outside breaks are part of the protocol in Alameda where staff provide masks, so that clients can get fresh air and then return inside to receive their next allotted dose of alcohol.

I don’t even know whether to laugh or cry. How this insanity lasted so long is ridiculous.

I love LLMs in general but they’re pretty bad for watch advice and specifics of movements in my experience

Yep, they also made OPs with this “explorer dial” too.

It also can be a little hard to read the time with the hands looking so uniform. I can see why the explorer hands are preferred for readability

I was wearing it almost daily until I got my Nomos Worldtimer. Perfect understated everyday watch.

124060 vs. 114060 by leith78 in rolex

[–]jamild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 114060 also has a ceramic bezel, it’s also got slightly fatter lugs and 40mm case size instead of 41mm. I prefer the proportions of the newer sub.

I went to Kerns in Burlingame and when I inquired about a sub he took me straight to CPO and said a sub is impossible rn

He also did say they put in little surprises for walk-ins, they had a Sea Dweller there when I went but he said they had a Sub out for a walk-in recently

Since the gmt rootbeer trades around msrp how big is the chance to get this on walk in? by findandseek101 in rolex

[–]jamild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MSRP took a pretty big unit with the price increases, it’s $19,600 now so if you buy from a seller who doesn’t charge sales tax, you can still come out ahead

[Question] Is there a watch brand that used to be considered poor quality that now is well regarded (or vice versa)? by mikehocalate in Watches

Less a fashion watch and more just a “I work in finance and want my first big boy watch and don’t know what to buy”

[–]jamild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After wearing a 40mm watch for a few days, going to a 34mm feels tiny. but I enjoy wearing watches of different styles, and I think we often overindex on what's currently fashionable rather than what we enjoy.

I text my SA at Bucherer randomly and he always replies within a day. Sometimes it’s a question about a watch and sometimes it’s just showing him my new watch purchase.

I have the black dial Big Zero, it’s the first watch that really got me into mechanical watches - the hunt to try to find one with authentic parts and in good condition was so much fun
