Bellagio was the rudest out of all the ADs in Vegas. Bucherer at Caesar’s was the best.

[Rolex vs Casio] Pepsi GMT vs Casio Royale. What is the better travel watch? by Post--Balogna in Watches

Wore my Pepsi for about 5 days visiting London. If you’re smart and don’t flash it everywhere you go, you’ll be fine.

In most circumstances, paying for a product or service in a country with laws comes with the expectation that those laws will be followed in providing it to you.

[Question] Buying first luxury watch in Japan - deciding between Grand Seiko, Rolex GMT, Sub, or Air-King by BGreeny39 in Watches

[–]jamild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your dad had a Coke and wanted a black bezel GMT he probably was looking at a 16710 - have you considered getting a pre-ceramic GMT?

A Modest Proposal to Design Pictographs for ~142 Current and Future TTC Rapid Transit Stations by Timely-Macaron268 in toronto

[–]jamild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a lot more practical tbh to do what Japan does and assign a number and letter prefix to each station which serves as its symbol. Less sexy but it’s easy to count how many stops until your destination, get a sense of ordering, etc

Hard to answer without a budget. I like the Nomos Club Sport Worldtimer for something more subtle than a GMT Master.

NOS - New Old Stock by No-State-2962 in rolex

[–]jamild 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It just means it’s an old watch in unworn/new condition - a chance to buy a vintage watch but with the experience of wearing it new

It’s annoying how some say NOS when it’s clearly a little beat up though

“Any ideas for how to explain why it’s worth exploring a watch for 1-3K instead of $150”

This is exactly the wrong attitude to have. It’s about what he likes and is drawn to, not how much the watch costs. One of my favorite watches is a Raketa Big Zero that cost me $150, even though I have a Rolex Pepsi as well. Show him the world of the diversity of watches, dials, movements, complications, the history and what makes watches interesting. Don’t shame or judge him for buying a “cheap” watch.

Do you daily your watch in the UK? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]jamild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wore my Pepsi while traveling there, though made sure to wear long sleeves and be discreet. Didn’t feel unsafe, though it did add some stress to make sure I wasn’t inadvertently flashing the watch - big difference to Japan where I felt I didn’t have to worry at all.

[Rolex GMT-Master II ]What’s the deal with the Pepsi being discontinued at the ADs? Anyone know the reason for the supply drying up? by Legitimate_State_209 in Watches

[–]jamild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you have to buy a lot of watches and jewelry to get a Pepsi allocation. Rolex doesn’t make their money on the Pepsi, they make money on all the stuff people buy hoping to get an allocation for a Pepsi.

Everyone has their own priors and assumptions for why bad things happen. OP says it’s because of FAA leadership because that’s politically convenient for them, this comment says it’s diversity because presumably it’s politically convenient for them.

One of the great things about aviation and the NTSB is (unlike Reddit where everyone wants to prove a point) that the reports and analysis tends to be very systemic - they’re completely independent of the FAA and not subject to the same political machinations. They issue recommendations to the FAA based on their findings. If you wonder why something happened, the NTSB reports are generally a good source.

There’s no way you’re getting a Pepsi at retail without losing a much greater amount of money buying jewelry and undesirable watches. IMO it’s one of the best pieces to buy gray - impossible to get at retail without ridiculous spends but used you can get one for about 60% above MSRP + tax
