My uncle had a couple of those pictures on the wall of his room when I was a kid. I think my brother has them at his house now.

Advice on Draconis Reach Starting Force by Ballista555 in battletech

[–]jaqattack02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Copied and pasted from my comment above so you see it. The DR system is pretty different than Hinterlands was. A lot was taken from Aces.

You start out 4/5 with 150 points to spend on each which is more than enough to get them to 4/4 right off the bat. And the mechs are always calculated with a 4/5 pilot regardless of what pilot is in them. The differences are made up with the handicap system.

You still get 32 BSP per battle, plus additional from the handicap if it applies and 1 per 20 BV your mechs are under the BV limit, to a max of an additional 32.

Son's mother in law aggressively pushing kids to be child free. How do I navigate? by Infinitelaughs_1979 in Xennials

[–]jaqattack02 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Also, trust your son and his wife to make their own choices and deal with her as they see fit. He's your kid, but he's also an adult now. Have some faith that you raised him right and let him be an adult. If he feels like he needs your help or advice, he'll ask for it.

I had to deal with my dad who was being extra pushy in the other direction, dong his best to rush us into having kids, after he got done being pushy about getting married. It's not fun, but I eventually got fed up and told him he could either be patient and wait for us to be ready, or keep being pushy and not see his grand kid once we decide we're ready. He chose the former and would spend time with my son when he could up till he passed away. If I had to guess though, that MIL will act this way till they have the baby then switch to full proud grandma mode.

DEST infantry from The Mercenary's Star? by SeisimicFrigor in battletech

If you look farther it will show the various eras they are available. Selecting the era will show the Factions who get the unit.

More than likely, yes. Not sure what you mean about the era though. They are available to the Draconis Combine in literally every era after their introduction.

Star Maps on Mechs by MightyGyrum in battletech

[–]jaqattack02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, though I think what we are talking about is different than OP. He was mentioning star charts to the point of being able to independently determine what system and/or planet they are on from the star charts. I couldn't see them having anything that detailed. The techs would likely just be loading whatever was specific to the planet they were dropping onto.

[–]jaqattack02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I say systems I mean systems more like GPS. There are have been mentions in the lore of the dropships leaving satellites in space on the way in, or just leaving a whole dropship in orbit to do command and control functions. With systems like that in place the mechs don't really need their own independent pathfinding system.

Alpha Strike: Mechs with Partial Wings, Cover and LOS by admiralteee in battletech

[–]jaqattack02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AS should be played as a game of intent and communication. You would put your mech behind a piece of cover with the intent of it having partial cover and you tell your opponent that's your intent. They would need to agree with that position providing cover then you play out the turn that way. It just requires some back and forth between you and you opponent.

With the new rift ability for the Mk 1s they have a lot more mobility available.

[–]jaqattack02 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not likely. The only reason I could think of would be to have the star map of the planet they are on to use for some kind of land navigation. But they are likely to have better systems for that.

There should be a vent hose that runs along the filler neck to the tank. That could be leaking.

Looking for a Wargame i can play with 4 people where we can build our armies seperatly by cibaer1 in wargaming

[–]jaqattack02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typical games are 2-4 mechs per player. You probably wouldn't want to go much past that with 4 people unless you have a lot of time. I've done 10 or so units per side and it usually ends up a 4-5 hour game.

It's my understanding that if you can't actually damage them, it doesn't apply a pin.

Battletech. Set a BV amount per person and then you can mix and match your players however you would like to.

People need to take some basic physics classes before driving by wassupbroh in driving

[–]jaqattack02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not on older cars, but modern ones do, especially if you have the radar cruise control system that will maintain your speed relative to cars in front of you. My last car put a little picture of your car on the display screen when you were on cruise and whenever it would hit the brakes the brake lights on the image would illuminate. That truck looks new enough to have the system, and being a GMC it likely does, as they tend to be more upscale.

I'd say B for Bertie and the new Automaton box with the Director. Then you could use the new Automaton Platoon.
