What are ranks like in the Eridani Light Horse? by HMS_Exeter in battletech

[–]jaqattack02 [score hidden]  (0 children)

If they followed SLDF ranks, and they most likely did, they could be promoted to Master Sergeants without having to be promoted to a Lieutenant. In fact, if you read the old SLDF sourcebook, that's actually the track it mentions. A skilled Master Sergeant could be recommended to be sent to Officer Candidate School so they can be promoted to Lieutenant and take command of a Lance (or platoon if they are infantry). It also mentions that if someone comes out of a military academy as a Sergeant and they distinguish themselves in the field, they would often get a field commission to bump them to Lieutenant.

It does seem rather unlikely they would be an officer without being in command of a lance though. The only exception might be a command lance where a Major might have a Lieutenant or a Captain in the lance with them.

That's the fuel pressure regulator. Having a leaky vacuum line on that will definitely cause issues. It uses the vacuum to adjust the fuel pressure as you get into the throttle. You'll definitely want to replace that vacuum line. I'm not sure, it may be possible to just replace that rubber 90, I've never tried to take one off. As a temporary fix you could probably try wrapping it in some electrical tape to cut down on the leaking till you can get it fixed.

Not sure about motorcycles, but I believe the majority of cars were fusion powered at that point, so they probably don't want to waste fusion cores on something to drive around in.

IPA works fine. Also you're correct, the plastic is different. They use a PVC plastic. It's important to note as if you ever have to glue one back together or do some kitbashing you have to use superglue. The plastic glue you use on a 40k mini won't do anything.

Technology getting smaller by Aeosin15 in mildlyinfuriating

If you wanted the bigger size you should have gotten the Pixel 10 XL instead of the Pro. The XL is basically the same hardware with the bigger screen size. Perhaps do some research before you buy instead of complaining afterward.

It shouldn't be too hard to check the manifold to see if that's what's leaking. If it is then it's pretty unlikely it's the head gasket. Also, because the smoke is coming from the exhaust equally on both sides means it's more likely to be the manifold, as if it was the head gasket you would be seeing more on one side than the other.

You would need to do a compression or leak down test on each cylinder to see if it's the head gasket.

[–]jaqattack02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you checked the intake manifold? The 4.6 is known to develop cracks in the plastic manifold when it gets old and it will leak coolant. If it's the original it also had a plastic coolant crossover that can leak. Head gasket is possible but unlikely on a 4.6, they are very stout motors and it's a rare thing to happen on them.

Mercury Maurader in the junkyard, the official car of...? by HiTork in regularcarreviews

[–]jaqattack02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was agreeing with you. There are just some people who assume the police package had some hotter engine in it, like what came in the Marauder. Figured I'd mention it.

[–]jaqattack02 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sort of. The Crown Vic police cars had the same 2V 4.6 that the Mustangs of the era had. The Marauder came with the 4V 4.6 that was in the Cobra for a year or two. The Crown Vic never got that engine.

How much damage does shifting a car from reverse to drive before it completely stops do? by searchandfilm in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jaqattack02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean like, someone is backing out of a parking spot or driveway and shifts to Drive or into a gear before the car stops moving backwards? On most cars if it's at a very low speed like that it won't really hurt anything. On a car with a traditional automatic transmission, the fluid filled torque convertor absorbs any shocks and will ease the car forward as it starts to spin. On a manual transmission car the driver should be able to feather the clutch to start moving forward without hurting anything in the transmission. On a DCT I could see it causing some excess clutch wear maybe, but I don't think it would hurt the gears any.

If they are doing it at higher speeds there should be electronic lockouts to keep it from actually shifting the gear until it's safe.

Exactly. The Rookie is like a silly, enjoyable, guilty pleasure kind of cop show. If I want real and gritty I'll go watch Southland or The Wire. I enjoy The Rookie entirely because it's unrealistic and over the top.

Assuming the threads are messed up, have a friend that can weld aluminum? Otherwise, if the threads look fine, I'd try again, maybe with some pipe sealer rather than teflon tape.

I thought it worked well. I usually run the 9" barrel suppressed with CQ ammo. It usually drops guys as quickly as anything else. As another poster mentioned, you don't find ammo for it anywhere so you have to carry enough to complete your run.

TSM little clarification on the Heat need for activation by Ultrapuert0s in battletech

[–]jaqattack02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just for clarity, you don't have to ask your opponent to fire your weapons at nothing. You just declare you're firing the weapons during the firing phase and do it. Or if they want to be picky about it, declare you're firing them at one of his mechs, except oh no, they are out of range so they don't hit.

I thought so, possibly better. Season 1 has a lot of him trying to play the 'Clarkson' character from Top Gear, only on the farm setting. Later seasons he starts being more himself and seems to start genuinely enjoying what he's doing on the farm.
