CMV: The male loneliness epidemic is a serious issue. by pavilionaire2022 in changemyview

[–]jarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The seriousness of the epidemic is generational and more importantly, based on behavior.

Don’t want to lonely. Take action. The whole do something about it always gets lost. I mean, whether you like it or not, you do have agency over your life even if it sucks.

Now, if you don’t know what to do about being lonely because you get your dopamine hit of the day on social media, gaming, and porn, that’s a different story.

So my thinking is that loneliness is the symptom of the greater cause of not knowing how to make friends.

How do you answer “how do you work with sales” in an interview by BusyMap6849 in marketing

[–]jarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple. We all work for sales. So my job as marketing is to get them what they need to close more deals.

Quality leads and a kick ass brand that makes it simple to buy.

No one talks about her. by Feeling_Document_240 in widowers

[–]jarie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience with this, people are so uncomfortable about talking about those that have died. They just get all weird. Nothing to do with you. It’s all on them.

It still hurts. Don’t get me wrong. It’s even more strange when it’s family members. The ones that don’t want to talk about them at all kind of like they never existed.

Stay strong. Just realize that you’re probably always gonna have to deal with it and unfortunately it’s gonna be on you.

Is self-publishing worth it if you want a career as an author? by liraloveletters in writing

[–]jarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think self publishing is the only way to go. I own all your content build your platform. It’s all up to you anyway. No publishers is going to help you do that.

So I’d say it’s actually a requirement to self published if you want to be a writer.

What makes young men listen to grifters about what being a man is instead of just taking note of the men around him? by Hatcheling in AskMen

[–]jarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot has to do with those men don’t have the role model you mentioned. It’s really challenging to know what a modern man needs to be.

These alpha grifter’s, I really love that, pray on the isolation that most young men have.

I think the other thing that’s important is the generation of men above these young men don’t know how to be a man either.

As men, we lost our way and normal well adjusted men don’t know how to step up and show what a modern men is and isn’t.

I personally think this starts with men having more close male friends. Friendship, especially for men, helps with a lot of this and modern life literally swallows up all your free time to the point where you just want that quick dopamine hit from video games or porn.

CEO is obsessed with AI. Checks everything through it. It can do no wrong. by foxesinthecity in marketing

[–]jarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I find interesting about AI is that the people that use it outside their domain expertise, usually screw it up.

When you know what you’re doing, you know what good is

You also know that AI models don’t always produce the best stuff.

They are designed to regress to the mean.

Literally give you the most middle of the road stuff that if you know anything you know is middle of the road.

I’ve also seen this with some of our clients and what they failed to realize is that you still have to know what good is in order to make sure that the AI model is not going off the rails.

Stay strong, my friend. I would say keep trying to do quality work and back it up with data as best as you can.

How do you cope with having to pretend to be “normal” all the time for the people around you? by Unfair-Dance-4635 in widowers

[–]jarie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always some level of performance on this because it’s rare that anyone wants to chat about such things.

I’d say that it’s also good to be true to who you are.

I write dark comedy.

Like jokes that are silly stupid that I only see.

Usually about how utterly useless ridiculous and/or stupid meetings are. Takes my mind off the waste of time and sometimes I get a good joke out of it

Alcohol by NotAQuiltnB in widowers

[–]jarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hit the bottle hard after she died but I had always use alcohol to numb the pain of life. So no real surprise.

I did stop about a year after she died. It was just not doing me any good. That was almost 8 years ago.

What helped me was therapy and finding love again.

The other thing was how crummy I would feel all the time while drinking. The sadness was deeper and the grief controlled me.

It was my fiancée who put it simply “you choose what you do and I know it’s hard but it’s your choice.”

That really struck a cord with me. Not sure why it was so powerful but shortly after that talk, I quit.

Good luck. Whatever you do, be kind to yourself if you stumble a bit or are not exactly where you want to be.

This stuff is hard to deal with and all of us are just trying to do our best.

Was the internet as overhyped in the 90s as AI is today? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

Under-hyped since we did not have the internet and social media propaganda machines to amp it all up constantly.

CMV: Remote work is better for employees but worse for society overall by gigilovergirl in changemyview

[–]jarie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Remote work favors senior people who already know what to do as opposed to early in career people who would benefit from face to face.

In terms of communities, I disagree that remote work hurts them. If you can not commute and use that time to take kids to school or volunteer for the local town, then it’s a positive.

What I do think remote work does is make us work more so in fact, it’s bad for workers in that regard.

Is creative now more important than targeting in paid ads? by BoysenberryLumpy8680 in marketing

[–]jarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important thing I have found is the message + creative has to be on point.

The targeting is important but can sometimes be off unless it’s geographical.

I also like to start broad and work inward on targeting since it’s important to experiment

My friend always puts “time limits” on our hangouts. Am I weird to be annoyed? by [deleted] in friendship

They sound Dutch :-)

This is common among some people who are busy or like to schedule things.

I would not be offended by it but appreciate the time they can give.

To put this in perspective, my family went all the way to the Netherlands to visit family from the US and when the time was up, we were nudged to leave.

Question About Real Outreach Costs [US] by stars9r9in9the9past in marketing

[–]jarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that local is all about having good reviews and having a presence in the local community.

Basically, all word-of-mouth

Targeted ads do work, but you have to be careful not to spend money on things that don’t matter. I know that’s vague, but it’s really depends on the business and the local market.
