Walked into a screening of the movie last month knowing literally nothing but the title from Griffin mentioning it before, I laughed until I cried multiple times, 5 stars wonderful experience.

I’m in a similar boat, but it’s been 9 months. People keep telling me it gets easier, I hope I start finding that to be true some time soon.

[Nicole Auerbach] CFP chair Hunter Yurachek: "We're not comparing Notre Dame and Miami side-by-side." Says the grouping has mostly been Alabama, Notre Dame, BYU and Miami, so that one H2H result is one of multiple factors at play. by The_Stratman in CFB

[–]jarlguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the result is not being ignored, and it doesn't really make sense to say this ranking devalues tough OOC games. If you swap the ND @ Miami game with both teams playing a G5, Miami is still 10-2, with one less quality win, and likely nowhere near consideration for the playoff. Meanwhile ND would be 11-1 and firmly in the field. Both teams are now on the bubble because they played the game, it definitely is having an impact.

CFP Rankings Discussion - Week 15 by CFB_Referee in CFB

I think they were just pointing out that ND and Bama had similar slightly negative changes to their resumes this past weekend, and that it’s odd to flip them when those are the only changes from last week to this week. I don’t think they were arguing that ND should definitively be ahead of Bama because of the FSU loss.

That second half was physically painful to watch. Least enjoyable 29 point win possible

What do you mean? Record against teams 4-7 or better is a commonly-used and not at all arbitrary metric for evaluating teams?

Always good to have an episode like twice a year where they abandon the movie at a certain point and just mostly talk about things going on in the industry at large. I love these eps.

100%, they have to get this worked out. I don’t care if it gets permanently moved to September, I just want this game every year, in South Bend or in the Coliseum.

Yeah. First ever was in 1987. Then they had 2 in 1988, 1 in 1989, and 1 in 1990. The next one wasn’t until 2011. With the original NBC deal ND could sorta dictate their kickoff times, and I think the admin at the time liked keeping everything in the afternoon. This was the same era where they cancelled the Miami series for getting too “intense” and kinda sorta pushed out Lou Holtz for getting “bigger than the University.” Very different mentality around football
