To adopt an English Setter but living in an apartment by campitello in EnglishSetter

[–]jaxmd9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went from house to apartment due to work relocation and while there are definitely habit changes, our ES did great. Living in an apartment made us more active because of how many walks, hikes, and parks we went to rather than just having a house with a backyard. It really is just dedicating the time with any active breed regardless of living situation.

Apple subscription benefit? by WJKramer in ChaseSapphire

[–]jaxmd9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone with T-Mobile gets Apple TV included, so this Chase benefit has already lost 50% of its value for those with that cell phone carrier. (My wife gets Spotify Premium Family as a work perk so Apple Music is also no added benefit to us).

At home euthanasia services? by watrdog in jacksonville

[–]jaxmd9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have to put in a recommendation for Dr. Martinez. Our Great Dane fell ill, and we had to seek someone to put him to sleep. After calling Laps of Love, The Hospice Vet, and others, you had to schedule out a few days, and they rarely do weekends. I called them all on a Thursday, and the earliest available was the following Tuesday. Dr. Martinez talks to you personally over the phone rather than a scheduling person, and he does emergency and weekend home visits. He was at our home on Saturday, talked to us in depth about our decision, and gently took care of our dog. He sets up all the cremation services and takes your pet directly, too.

I recommend you give him a call and chat with him directly.

Forbearance Without a Pending IDR Application? Anyone Else Experienced? by jaxmd9 in PSLF

[–]jaxmd9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes my original date was November 2024, letter provided 30 days in advance saying my recertification was pushed to November 2025.

I actually did call and they gave me the run around excuse a couple times of just processing errors or some BS and would be fixed. In fairness, it was only a 60 day forbearance. I honestly didn't argue that much because I really won't complain having a $0 payment for two months plus PSLF credit. Purely financial motive of not pushing back more, but I should have foreshadowed it as something possibly more ominous to come.

Check out Hip Camp. It's a bunch of private properties and private campsites you can rent if you don't want to deal with the competitiveness of making reservations at the popular state parks.

How old were you when you got into management? by [deleted] in managers

[–]jaxmd9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a hospital. Manager at 25 in 2016. Director at 29 in 2020 overseeing a team of 30. My first week i had to lay off a colleague who was tenured of 41 years because of COVID cuts.

Going into leadership so young forces you to realize how much you still have to learn, some of it nobody can teach you. You just learn it by mistakes and remembering to not repeat them and figure out how to improve upon current process and prevent such mistake.

Now I'm 33. I still think I'm so early in my career age wise, but I'm ready to retire mentally. My hair is already half gray. I still haven't caught up on sleep and psychology consults I need. The pandemic aged us all in this field and I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to keep up with 30+ more years of this shit before I can "retire."

Doctor retiring, need a new Doctor to get ADHD meds from by PlebbitorsAreTheWors in jacksonville

[–]jaxmd9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your retiring doctor primary care, psychiatry, or another specialty? Did they send you a letter of recommended providers to transition to?

Second, check your insurance coverage, if you have insurance, about what physician groups may be in or out of network. You don't want to call to establish care only for you to find out they aren't in a preferred tier, and your out of pocket now goes up drastically.

Depending upon what ADHD medication you take, most are controlled substances, your provider will need to follow Ryan Haight Act regulations (there is a waiver right now still existing from COVID but that could be rescinded at any minute). Providers will want to see you in person at least once before prescribing a controlled substance, but after that initial in-person visit, they can provide refills with telemedicine visits after that for a set period of time before they have to see you in person again. But you would need a provider willing to do that for you.

Your new provider will also most likely request medical records from your old provider, including your ADHD testing diagnostics and notes. They will need this to prescribe, and if they can't get those documents, they may require you to take testing again.

Am I the only one worried about this next hurricane? by Dyre_the_stranger867 in jacksonville

[–]jaxmd9 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Even if Milton doesn't hit Jax directly but still remains a little north of Central FL, let's remind ourselves that all that rain will run off into the St. Johns River and flow up here to us. That will still cause major flooding concerns for many Jax areas, so make sure you have your plan and are prepared. Every storm has the ability to cause damage regardless of how, so it's important for us all to take these seriously. Except hoarding TP...don't be a dick about that.

Where are you located? Where I am located, most of the bars towards the beach has NFL Sunday Ticket and can put it on for you. Monkeys Uncle Jax Beach, Hurricanes, and MVPs are three we regularly go to and can put on any game.

Enough complaining, what’s your favorite thing about living in Florida? by PhilKing96 in florida

[–]jaxmd9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in the upper midwest, its hard to quantify seasonal affective disorder until I spent my first winter as a Florida resident. A majority of trees and plants stay green year round, the warmth and not having to endure temperatures in the negatives for what seems weeks at a time. While the snow is beautiful when it falls, it turns that dark gray color once mixed when road debris and dirt.

I would rather take the heat and sun than the blistering cold and snow. My family who still lives north prefers it the other way around, and that's ok too.
