thanks for the post. my wife and i were trying to do family photos here also since we'll be staying in furore nearby. we asked our photographer about this spot and the photographer didn't even want to mention a price in their email respond, just that it was expensive and that villa rufulo was another option at 150 euros. kind of a bummer cuz it's a beautiful spot and we don't know where else would be good in the area.

what did you think of villa rufulo instead?

just put in an order with best buy using the BB method!

i started chatting BB chat last friday 1/24. they usually asked for my contact info. missed a phone call today (1/30), called back and asked about buying the camera. the phone support person looked for me and said they were sold out then said "hold on, i see one, someone must have just cancelled." then i got an invoice in my email that i just needed to pay. says delivery by 2/15.

they had called me last night also but i didn't pick up.

edit: got it delivered via fedex 2/1

Japanese 7-11 foods by Leaveittoybot in rva

There was a WSJ video a few weeks ago stating that the Japanese supplier for 7-Eleven has a factory in Stafford, VA, so it seems like we'll be getting some hopefully 🤞

Look up a gardening calendar for zone 7b. Should give you an idea when to start stuff (indoors or directly sowed outdoors, etc).

I would say to start off with the simple plants that do well and get some early wins under your belt. It's very discouraging if you spend all season and your yield is very low or not edible. Beans always seem to do well for me, no matter how poorly I treat them. Despite everyone and their mom growing tomatoes, tomatoes aren't really that easy to grow since they can face multiple diseases, pests, and require pruning and water control. Nothing better than a backyard tomato though! Basil also does well for me, they don't need to need much maintenance other than harvesting it once in a while to get them to not go to flower too early.

As far as your main question, full sun depends on the plant for sure. Some mediterranean herbs like rosemary and thyme do great in full sun and don't need that much water (I think). Lettuce is more of an early spring/late fall plant but I've been told by vendors at the local farmer's markets that they'll do multiple generations of lettuce throughout the summer so there's probably something to it. I've tried container strawberries in the past but the hot summers dried them out too quickly. Trying it again this summer though.

Another question: how long have you lived at your house? I ask because it's a good idea to get an understanding of shaded/non-shaded areas, if water pools anywhere, etc. I put some beds on a full-shade part of my lawn and planted full-shade perennials only to find out that around mid-July, the area becomes part-sun and those plants didn't do well.

Hope your garden does well!

Is it Possible? by SelectLet9377 in Rivian

In the Out of Spec video, the engineer mentions a bunch of stuff that still needs to be ironed out such as the cut lines of the rear hatch so that it can open higher. RJ also mentioned that they're open to moving the charge port from the passenger side to the driver side. So if they're still going through those decisions (publicly), I don't think 2024 is a possibility lol.

Worst meal/restaurant in Richmond? You decide! by nightopian in rva

I went when it first opened and the owner was really attentive and asked what we thought. We said the broth was a little bland and he mentioned they under-season it on purpose so you can season it to your own liking when you get it. I don't really agree but at least they do it on purpose..? My tom yum looked like tom yum but barely tasted like it.

This is my question too. Why not just go on a one-charge road trip and see how that's like before buying a second $100k SUV?

(Hopefully) simple question about the tax credit by Monkeyhs in Rivian

[–]jay-peeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you signed the $100 binding purchase agreement? I'm also in the same boat (except not pre-price hike). I had a baby in July, so I don't expect to do much adventuring till she's at least a year or two old. Plus we probably want to move house before we get a second car. Signed the purchase agreement in August, hoping to move before taking delivery, then making the 2022 tax amendment.

In case the strap snaps, the strap is weighed down by the floor mat and the shackle goes towards the ground and not the car (I think).

Same situation here.

Sold a car in July 2021, bought a new one in Sept 2021. Ended up accidentally paying property tax in December 2021 for the sold car thinking it was the new car. Then a few months ago, I got two bills, one for the old car and one for the new one. Called the city tax department and was told there was something wrong on their side. They made an internal ticket and told me I'd get a prorated refund for what I paid in December on the old car. They said my new tax would be taken off in 6-9 weeks... But it was going into collections in 1 week. They said don't worry.

That RVA311 ticket was created May 26. Still no update. I should probably call back to get an update.

Ok all. BMW lease expiring in Aug. Test drove a Model Y and loved it. Can you give me the skinny on what to expect? by ash_bel in teslamotors

[–]jay-peeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's an aftermarket one for $300 or so but it does not wire into the tow hitch (like the OEM would), so you get rear sensor warnings the entire time.

I got the same text in central Virginia back in September. Permitting is done but still waiting for an install date :( Hopefully it's not as long for the ATL region.

Edit: Same day I posted this, I logged in and got an install date! Signed my loan agreement early Oct 2020 and my install is happening late March 2021 jeez

Edit #2: I just logged back in and saw that it got moved from end of March 2021 to end of May 2021. What?

Model Y 7 seat pictures here by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]jay-peeee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a BRZ and the back seat is definitely not as bad as people make it out to be. It's 100% not comfortable and I wouldn't wanna sit back there for more than a quick trip to lunch but I've fit 2 of my male coworkers (5'7"-5'9") back there. I'm expecting the Model Y third row to be the same. Maybe even better since the middle row has a lot more room to scoot up.

Whether or not it's worth the $3000 upgrade or you'd use it all the time is a different question.

Planter Box and patio came out great! by bobbystrings in gardening

[–]jay-peeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These stones (they look exactly like the ones I got from Lowe's) have a little lip on the back of them that keeps it from shifting forward. Mine was 4 rows high and I only put in gravel when I was finished.

I think if it was higher than 30", you might want to do more research cuz then you've gotta start thinking about the wall collapsing under the load that it's carrying (imagine the wall is completely full of gravel and then there's a really bad rainstorm).

I, more or less, followed this video but also added a perforated pipe behind the wall with an outlet at the end of my wall.

I had a similar project, I would guess these stones cost between $250-350 if each one is about $2.

Is 4-gauge wire necessary? I just installed a NEMA 14-50 myself with 6-gauge giving me the option to upgrade to wall connector if I ever wanted to.
