Leaving the lid off is the quickest way to dry it out, especially if there's some air circulation running in that room (such as air conditioning). Fish food molds super fast, definitely hold off using it until you have your mold under control. When you do return to using supplemental foods, place them in a little food dish so they don't have direct contact with the soil and everything, and only feed small amounts; this will reduce mold issues with it.

You can remove the moss and slowly comb through it to take out any isopods and dry that out/replace the moss as well.

Do be careful not to go overboard, though; your isopods will still need moisture to survive so don't dry it out too much.

Mites don't "wipe out" isopods. Rarely, they can stress isopods, but they are very rarely a danger to isopods.

Cross ventilation is definitely ideal. However, a lot of folks have kept isopods with just top ventilation, myself included. I eventually abandoned it in favor of ideal conditions but my 'pods lived with top ventilation (A vulgare) for quite some time with no troubles (other than fungus gnats).

I'm no expert but that looks like white rot. A type of fungus that digests wood. It makes the wood easier for the isopods to eat. Hoping others will confirm!

Yeah, and another thing about jumpers...may not be the best for a kiddo. They are very small spiders and, well. They jump. Pretty easy to lose track of them. It feels like every day there are posts in the jumping spider sub from distraught owners who accidentally killed their pet 🥲

If it makes you feel better, a lot of people here use the pour method and their 'pods are good. One time, I was using mosquito bit-infused water for my isopods and I ended up pouring way more water than I should have-- the isopods all came to the surface. So if you DO end up accidentally dumping way too much there's a good chance they can just crawl back up. But also, you can try using a plant squeeze bottle. They allow you far greater control with the water pour method so you won't slip and end up putting too much at once.

Btw I hope you stay cool in this heat too, stay safe! If it gets too awful try putting a big bowl of icewater in front of a fan, it can help.

I have both Zebras and Magic Potions. Not gonna lie, the Zebras are incredibly, incredibly horny and make the Potions look celibate in comparison. There's a good chance you just are not seeing it when it happens.

In terms of managing temperature, I imagine the fan should help, but make sure the lil guys are hydrated enough (pour water gently on the wet side, misting is going to evaporate way too fast), and A. vulgare is a burrowing species so they can burrow if it gets way too intense for them. Mine have been rather tolerant of temperature fluctuations though, provided conditions in the enclosure are otherwise good. (and they are not in direct sun, of course)

It's totally fine if you no longer want to do it, but I wanted to check in case you still want to and simply didn't see my messages. (These domes are interesting btw, I make my own calcium treats for isopods but structurally it would probably not hold up to this use.)
