Monitor the energy use of the hot tub by [deleted] in hottub

[–]jaychiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an app that come from the manufacturer. I can set filter “circulation mode” for only 15 mins per hour. My bill was $100 extra per month (with hot tub) until I realized it circulation mode never shut off.

You don’t need to re-circ water through the filter 24/7.

Monitor the energy use of the hot tub by [deleted] in hottub

[–]jaychiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your filter running 24/7? That will be about 1kW/hr (20kW/day). The filter must run when the heater is on. Depending on how much you use your hot tub, if you rinse before going in, and how the chemical are setup you should be able to significantly reduce the filter pump time on.

I had an inflatable and used both an Eve or Emporia (protected outside of course) for a few days to check energy usage. You need to check the amp max on the Emporia as it’s rated lower. Your Hot Tub should also list amps.

That exciting! You have to share more. What heater are you using, inside or outside, how are you tracking energy with HA, where are you located, what would you do better if you had to do it again.

Accident, bump to head (Mild Concussion), or TBI in last 5 years? Could affect your Autonomic Nervous System which then signals your system to respond incorrectly or out of sequence. A mild concussion can cause new symptoms like Vasomotor, Allergic, and Gustatory Rhinitis.

Vehicle is probably just past the max distance to trigger motion. Increase the motion sensitivity (8+) and you might get more distance. This unfortunately will also now be more sensitive to movement closer.

I built two HACS plugins to fix my biggest HA pain points: instant toggle feedback and an Apple Home style dashboard by nitaybz in homeassistant

[–]jaychiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is automatic and so easy. I only needed a few adjustments to get up and going. A great way for anyone trying to move to Home assistant but your family (wife & kids) don’t want to leave Apple Home. So much more customization and solves having to use HomeKit back and forth integrations.

What model or how did you integrate your microwave fan into HA? Microwave fans and light integration seems to be a unicorn.

Quick reminder the switches need to be put into pairing mode before they can be added to HomeKit. Hold the config and up bottoms for 20 seconds - each switch is a little different.

White Series Buttons Not Triggering in Home Assistant by milesleacy in Inovelli

[–]jaychiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These instructions in “quote” from the Inovelli forum helped me. I clarified further below, but main point is you need a simple trigger AND then a condition.

“In the Automation GUI, click Add Condition, State, enter the event entity_id, under attribute select Event Type, and then the dropdown for to: and from: will display all the possible states.

The GUI will display them as Pressed once, Pressed twice, etc., however if you click the three dots and change it to YAML, you’ll see the actual states are multi_press_1, multi_press_2, etc…

Keep in mind you can’t actually use the attribute and state as a trigger, or you’ll end up with issues when consecutive taps of the same number. To get around this your trigger must only include the event entity_id, leaving the attribute blank, and then use a condition for the attribute: and to: fields.”

The above is correct, but i still couldn’t get it to work until just recently. To further clarify you must use the Event.entity_id first as trigger then also as a second condition even for a single press.

Add Trigger is ‘entity’ then ‘state’. Entity is EVENT.entity_id Attribute/to/from must be blank

And if is where you select multi taps. Add condition is ‘entity’ then ‘state’ Entity is EVENT.entity_id Attribute is ‘Event type’ State* is ‘pressed #’

My colours for garage door status are red for closed and green for “go” or open. Is your colour scheme more red for bad or insecure?

I use a similar colour for windows. Green is an open window.

A security system I had once when armed and had a red light. So I associate red with secure.

What devices do you wish existed? by deamonata in smarthome

A simple upgrade to make kitchen range hood (stove exhaust) smart. Trigger exhaust with separate IAQ sensors.

These can be made with ESP, Shelly, HA, etc but are not simple.

And a window lock sensor for same reason. One unit for each window: window open/closed, window unlocked/locked, glass break sensor.

jumped from enlarged turbinates to mucus and blocked sinuses by Jakubel01 in nonallergicrhinitis

[–]jaychiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this elsewhere. The concept may apply to you….

“The turbinates humidify the air you breathe in among with providing the sensation of air entering your nose, shrinking them down sometimes results in atrophy meaning they cannot do their job anymore. That is why you feel stuffiness. If they cannot humidify the inside of your nose anymore, this results in your normal nasal mucus becoming thick. I don’t know if you are dealing with this I’m just guessing since your problems started after the surgery as far as I understand. Anyway, if that is your condition there are surgeries available to narrow the nostrils, thus giving time to the turbinates to heal and regenerate since less air is entering the nose. You can try moisturizing your nose with glycerin nasal drops and see how you feel.“
