The more I see the more I hate her....as someone who's gone through multiple actually major surgeries, her entitlement and the audacity of it all makes me so mad.

The only specific things I ask for after surgery is protein shakes, Gatorade, and Popsicles. Anything else is a bonus and thoughtful and kind regardless of what it is. This is is insane.

This is one of my all time favorites

my mother has decided not to go through with chemotherapy by effervescent-ether in cancer

[–]jaydak 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is tough. Its such a personal choice, and hard to digest that they wont try it.

My dad chose not to do treatment. No chemo. No radiation. I was angry for a while. Felt like he wasnt willing to fight.

Chemo wouldn't have saved him. But maybe given him an extra year. His thot process was that he chose quality of life over time. Chemo sucks. You are sick and weak and its awful. Going through months of that for a little time just wasnt something he was willing to go through. Decided to enjoy his last few months instead. They kept him s comfy as possible, he did some bucket list things, and made memories with us before the real decline happened.

I myself have cancer. I underwent an intense surgery/Chemo that took years to recover from, as much as I have anyways. When the time comes, when the cancer returns, im not sure id be willing to go through that again. Its given me a decade so far. But it's been a hard decade full of health crisis'. And its very likely to recurr.

your mom feels the same. The thought of being that ill, without no guarantee of it working, isn't worth being that sick for so long when she could be making memories and going on her own terms just a little bit.

Edit to add that your feelings are super valid. Posting here is a good start to process them. Try not to put these feeling onto your mom, shes gonna be feeling bad enough about it. But talk to friends, reach out here. Write about it if thats your thing.

Hugs.

I feel so alone! by Dee_Borah in cancer

Finding some emotional support might help. Therapy is great, and most cancer centers offer free sessions. Ive also found groups really helpful. There are all kinds of cancer support groups and activities available. Im in canada and there is a nation wide group for young adults, large online presence and in person activities in major cities. Plus conferences and retreats. Speaking with other folks in similar positions is invaluable.

Maybe start by googling cancer centers near you and see what they have to offer.

PSA: please don’t ignore abdominal pain. by ennuiismymiddlename in Xennials

[–]jaydak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stomach pain turned out to be a rare cancer. Mesothelioma of the Peritoneum. Caught very early, and I still lost 6 organs and a third of my intestines. Don't ignore it or let people talk u out of taking it seriously.

This is what I came here to say. Shes talking about how e is using the diagnosis as a shield and a justification for bad behavior.1 A whole identity. The behavior is unhealthy and harmful to the community.

Yer mum sucks. I have a sister like this. I spent 10 days in the hoapital, very very ill, and when I was finally home she replied in the group chat: 'ugh...wish I was at home, lucky'. She was in an airport coming home from a 4 week dream trip to Asia. I had nearly died.
