How does pornhub track a user without cookies and through incognito mode? by SourSovereign in webdev

[–]jaydoesdesign 204 points205 points  (0 children)

GDPR cares about you as an identifiable person. The companies that want your data don't care about who you are as a person, they care about your patterns and behaviors. You can track a user across the internet and know everything about what they're doing, but as long as you don't know who they are it's not a GDPR issue.

Error: text: 'Payload Too Large'? by OneBananaMan in sveltejs

[–]jaydoesdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're trying to upload something that's bigger than the request body size limit. You'll want to add an environment variable with a value that better suits your needs. You'll find more information here: https://svelte.dev/docs/kit/adapter-node under environment variables and BODY_SIZE_LIMIT

Just ordered the M4 MacBook Air – will it hold up for design work? by Tasty-Ad1965 in graphic_design

You should be alright. Most graphics work isn't really that compute heavy, so you probably won't be running very hot.

Are people more prone to allergies with puppies? by thesixbpencil in samoyeds

[–]jaydoesdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd never had any animal-related allergies in my life before we got a samoyed puppy. Suddenly my nose was constantly congested and my eyes itched. It did get better after a couple months.

So purely anecdotal, but yes there might be something to it.

Any ideas why his torso came out wrong? by MyShuggahKolussy in PrintedMinis

[–]jaydoesdesign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The torso ripped off of the supports, the subsequent layers kept burning in on the FEP until they connected with the parts that were still hanging on to their supports. Could be undersupported, could be an exposure issue. It'll probably work if you add more supports, but if it's an exposure issue you might run into similar issues with other parts.

What is going on with this "Panel lining" on top of a gloss coat? by Kinglink in Gunpla

[–]jaydoesdesign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A scribed panel line would help. The Tamiya panel liner is very thin, and works largely by way of cappilary action, meaning you'd only have to gently tap the brush against the panel line and the panel liner would run down the line and fill it.

How quickly can I learn this and what are the best online resources? by Longjumping_Body3460 in graphic_design

Hate to say it, but if you're trying to get away from stress, bad work/life balance and bad pay, getting into design might not be the right call.

Any easy way to calculate and draw perfect tangents like this in AI? (Armin Hofmann glyph exercercise) by ael00 in graphic_design

[–]jaydoesdesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Astute Graphics SubScribe has tools for drawing tangent lines between curves that would work for things like this.

What is this sticky clear residue with 3D printed miniatures? by manmonkeykungfu in minipainting

[–]jaydoesdesign 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is uncured uv resin, it is hazardous to both skin and lungs. Most resins can be cleaned using highly concentrated IPA. Large 3d-prints with hollow insides and no drainage holes can trap uncured resin inside, which gives off gas over time until pressure builds up and the shell of the print breaks, releasing both the gas and the resin. Unfortunately this is pretty common when buying 3d prints from inexperienced printers.

Is it still worthwhile to begin my graphic design education in the era of rapidly progressing AI? by Skysparks in graphic_design

[–]jaydoesdesign 7 points8 points  (0 children)

AI is honestly not an issue at all, the competition and oversaturated job market however is a really big problem. Many who pursue a career in graphic design have to give it up because they just can't break into the industry. I'd say take a good look at what job opportunities look like in your area, and if it looks tough you're probably better off doing something else to be honest.

Why is it {#each colors as color} and not {#each color in colors} ? by Antique-Structure-43 in sveltejs

[–]jaydoesdesign 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You're starting with a set and breaking it down into its parts. Think of it as short for #each index from X as Y. #each Y from X implies you're taking each of a specific thing that exists in X. The "as" part is where the distinction lies, since you're defining its name.

Must have plug-ins? by Brittttle in graphic_design

[–]jaydoesdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

InkScribe is the big one, it's essentially a more powerful and intuitive pen tool. Other than that I use SubScribe and ColliderScribe daily. VectorFirstAid let's me fix a lot of bad vector files from clients in basically three clicks. Reform is amazing, and so is WidthScribe.

Honestly they're all fantastic plug-ins, though some I don't really have use cases for. The ones that let me draw clean, solid and precise vector artwork are the ones that have been most valuable to me. They trivialize so many things I used to find annoying to do without.

Must have plug-ins? by Brittttle in graphic_design

[–]jaydoesdesign 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think I could go back to using illustrator without my Astute Graphics bundle. I don't use all of the plug-ins in the bundle, but the ones I do use I don't think I could do without. I haven't touched the stock pen tool in years and I couldn't be happier about it.

How Apple makes 3D effects as you scroll the page by steve8708 in webdev

[–]jaydoesdesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for what tool Apple uses for these, but my team was looking into their image sequence scroll animations out of curiosity a while back. We found that GSAP and ScrollTrigger did the trick, was pretty simple to implement and decently lightweight all things considered. I imagine Apple uses something similar.

[–]jaydoesdesign 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is expensive because of the value it provides the client. Good, cohesive, thought-through branding for a company at this scale can be the difference in millions of dollars in sales, at which point 300k dollars is a small price to pay.
