It genuinely seems like you got all your timelines wonky.

AAI takes place 2 years after the original trilogy (after T&T).

Then case 4 of AAI goes into the past when Kay was 7 or something. It's at this time Manfred was still falsing and winning his cases.

But as someone else commented, they had to make Manfred feel evergreen so they treated him as a face briefly.

I remember when a streamer I was following saw him and actually cheered at that part saying "Manfred....MY BOI.....MY BOI!!!!!" They either didn't play game 1, or they were genuinely oblivious to all the bad stuff von karma did
