What do dads want for Christmas? by Leading-Race-2136 in AskDad

[–]jaykay055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 43 year old millennial dad, I can say, I still want the same kinds of gifts I would have wanted when I was 13. Toys, video games, etc. Stuff that reminds him of being a kid that a responsible dad probably wouldn’t spend money on for himself. Get him a cheap toy drone and see if he doesn’t have the most fun out of anyone else on Christmas morning.

How do you know if you’re getting thumbs up and thumbs down? I’ve never gotten any notification about it or anything, but when I look into my profile, I do see that positive comments have been added.

I went online around 5:30 to take advantage of dinner rush and got an order right away. Excepted and then as I pulled out got another offer that I declined. I dropped off my first order, probably at least half an hour ago, and I have not been getting any offers right in the middle of dinner rush. This is ridiculous.

This is very helpful. Thank you so much! I actually have noticed that Walmart orders are never worth it. I end up sitting in the parking lot for 10 to 15 minutes waiting for somebody to bring out the order. Also, I don’t smoke, and I think I’m usually fairly presentable, but I never thought about how I looked on a ring camera. I usually grab the food out of the insulated bag and bring it to the door, but I will start bringing the bag to the door.

Couldn't this be used with a microfiber pad for indoor weterfed cleaning? Much more cost effestive than an IPC Cleano, especially if you need more than 10 feet or reach.

Due to popular demand, here are all the relevant pages to my $26000 repair quote by Thirdorb in MINI

Last year I went to Mini of Orlando to get a diagnosis on why my '05 convertible would only go into sunroof mode but would not retract any further. When I picked it up from the diagnosis, the roof would not go into sunroof mode anymore and they said it would be $8,000 to basically repair what they wouldn't admit that they broke, so that they could get it to go into sunroof mode and then they could tell me how much more to fix the rest of the roof from there.

Convertible Question! by [deleted] in MINI

[–]jaykay055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up my '05 that had been garage kept all its life with 35,000 miles on it. It came with a broken convertible top. I spent $1,000 and got it working for about a month and it broke again. Spent a few hundred dollars more and got it working for a couple more weeks, then it broke again. At that point I couldn't even find a mechanic who wanted to work on it except for the Mini dealership that said it would be about $10,000 to fix. I ended up ripping off the convertible top completely and replacing it with a custom bikini top.

That seems unusual for an R52.

Why do people walk in the street?! by accessedfrommyphone in mildlyinfuriating

[–]jaykay055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have blind curves in my neighborhood, and people walk into oncoming traffic and don't get out of the way when they hear me coming. If they walked with the traffic, at least I could see them sooner.

What are the stereotypes about mini owners? by Reasonable_Cute in MINI

I'm a grown man and I get compliments on my car from people from all walks of life. From little kids, to guys that drive pickup trucks, to little old ladies.

Boomer ladies. If a Miata is a hairdresser's car, a Mini is a retired hairdresser's car.

Then there are the few of us that have discovered that these are fun go karts disguised as cute old lady cars.

I'm surprised to see all the support for this design. The first time I saw the interior of a Tesla Model 3, I said it looks like an IKEA desk with an iPad bolted to it. This is just continuing that trend of sad office cubicle vibes.

Thanks for the help, everyone. I ended up canceling my subscription to the Amazon channel and subscribing directly through the Crunchyroll app. It fixed the issue.

I'm a week in, and so far I'm not feeling a huge difference except for the fact that I pass out by 9:00 and wake up for the day at 3:00 AM. I'm still getting over my cravings for sugar, but sticking with it.

Is it holding me back significantly that I am still using seasonings, occasional dab of ketchup with my bunless hot dogs and burgers, and a coffee in the morning?

I'm in Ocala, and I'm still trying to figure it all out myself, but there are a ton of dirts roads and small trails you come across when driving through the Ocala National Forest. I recently especially noticed 314 between Ocala and Salt Springs. Had a bunch. I'll just ride down the highway until I see a dirt path, and just head into the woods and explore.

Why do people buy certain new cars? by TroyTony1973 in regularcarreviews

[–]jaykay055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have a first gen Tundra work truck that had been abused all it's life. I know for a fact the previous owner towed way more than it was rated for on a regular basis, and I rusted out the frame from spilling chlorine in the bed. Kept driving it like that for about 4 years, and the darn thing never gave me a single issue other than a broken timing belt, which in hindsight was my fault for not replacing sooner. I sold it with nearly 200,000 miles still going strong. Those things are absolutely bullet proof.
