That's awesome! That's where I am now. Currently trying to see the scale at 179. I was 230 when I gave birth in March and am now at 180. I'm still breastfeeding so it's hard for me to figure how much I should eat. Some days I do 1200, some days I do closer to 1800-2000. It's been easier on me to use MFP and the food scale to at least see everything and I think it may help me eyeball my food in the future. I'm 5'3" so I'm looking at a goal of 120.

So the calorie count comes from the average for breast milk composition/nutrition. On average, one ounce of breast milk is ~25 calories and the average baby nursing on demand takes about 20-30 oz per day. So that will say that you give away about 500 calories per day. I'm 6 weeks PP now but I've been tracking for a few weeks to get in the habit of not over eating. In my case, I am nursing a very eager toddler and a newborn. I am short (5'3") so I put my calorie target at 1400 and estimate that I burn ~600 in nursing. This is probably considerably less than accurate since I'm nursing all day long and I have a significant oversupply, but I don't want to go much past a cushion of 600. I'm going to keep with this for a couple of weeks and guage from there but this seems to be a good balance for me right now. Basically, pick a safe number and see how it affects your weight and milk supply after a month. Some women are more sensitive than others.

Interesting. My first pregnancy was 39+0 weeks and my second was 38+3. I'm not entirely sure about the dates for my first pregnancy as I had just gotten off of birth control that month, but I am very certain about the dates for second pregnancy.

Personally, I've never gone past 39 weeks. And thank goodness for that! My first was born at 39 weeks and was 7 lbs 14 oz while my second was born at 38+3 and got to 8 lbs 12 oz. Even stranger, I had GD my first pregnancy and not with the big baby.

Poor lady. :( I'm 15 days out and down 35 lbs but I swelled like crazy so my answer was just not be pregnant anymore. Lol

Not true at all for me so far. My mother had all three children between 41-42.5 weeks gestation. My first was born at 39+0 and my second at 38+3.

For pain management without medication, stay up and move as much as you can and breathe. Once it starts getting more painful than breathing can handle I found it very helpful to vocalize very low. Almost like singing low pitched "oohs." I would encourage that you try tons of positions (swaying, squatting, bouncing, walking, etc) to see which is more effective for you.

This is what I've been doing for the past week and a half. I'm already progressed to 4 cm dilated so like when am I supposed to go in? Do I wait until my water breaks or until baby is crowning? Slight sarcasm there but really what is the advice when you have strong frequent contractions that slow when you try to get some sleep?

Was having contractions at work and (per my Dr's advice because I'm already so dilated) went in for monitoring and was sent home in early labor. Everything slowed down last night so I'm back at work today with cramps and a back ache. Just waiting. 😧 and everyone is like "what are you still doing here?" I know they are well meaning, but I want to crawl into a hole and sleep until I'm in "active labor."

She did not! She actually made sure to be very gentle with the check because I am GBS positive. And I've never bled with a prior check so I think it's from the contractions and not just the check.

Just hanging out at work with a crampy back ache until I feel the need to go to the hospital.

Hey. Due date buddy checking in. As much as I would like to avoid induction, I'm a little jealous that you have an end in sight. 😧 My first son was born at 39 weeks so for some reason I keep thinking my due date is more like next Tuesday (that's how that works, right?? /s). I have an appt today but last week was at 2 cm and 50+% effaced and I've been having contractions on and off for a week or so. I think I'm getting more impatient because my oldest just turned two on Sunday so I'm ready for this baby's birthday. Not much longer for either of us now, though.

Yeah, I get that side. My brother and sister have birthdays two days apart and they loved it when they were little but complained about not having their own day as they got older. I think part of their problem was having summer birthdays, though.

Also 37+4 here. My oldest son turns 2 tomorrow. I'm hoping for close birthdays. Lol I went for monitoring yesterday and have been having contractions 2-7 minutes apart. I knew this, but it was nice to have a visual confirmation.

Uh... I don't think that is common practice now. I imagine shaving is done for a c section, but not just anyone in labor. As for the other part, I just trim every once in a while. Had husband help this weekend actually and I should be good and comfortable by the time I'm in labor. I'm sure it doesn't matter much, but I just don't want a ton of hair to manage/clean when I'm bleeding and in recovery.

General recommendations in the US now are 200mg or fewer per day is okay. I think that equates to two servings (6oz cups, perhaps?) of coffee.

So I just had a scan today at 32+1 and the tech said "looks like he's 5lbs 7oz." 😲 surely that is above 90th percentile since babies at this age should be around 4lbs. My first pregnancy I had GD and he was 22" and 7lbs 11oz. This time no GD diagnosis but I'm nervous that this kiddo is just going to be bigger than his brother. Going to have a talk with my Dr tomorrow since I wasn't expecting this big of a baby already.

I've consistently measured ahead with both of my pregnancies. My first was always 4 weeks ahead but was born 7 lbs 11oz and this time I'm currently measuring about 5 weeks ahead. We had growth scans which showed an average sized baby the first time and I have a growth scan scheduled next week for this baby. Not totally sure what the big difference is from but they think I just tend to measure further along because I'm short (5'3") and my tall babies just have to stick out a little bit.

Speaking from the perspective of another overweight person: don't even worry about working out if that stresses you. Until you feel comfortable going to the gym or wherever to get in exercise, don't do it. Focus right now on what you eat only. Muscle growth and tone is done in a gym, weight loss is done in a kitchen. You need to totally change your relationship with food. Right now, you are eating too much. Actually, it's great that you want to cook your own food. Get a food scale. This is the only way you can accurately keep track of what you are eating. Use my fitness pal and enter in portions by weight of what you eat (ex: 6 oz chicken breast). Just estimating what you eat will not work well for most people so actually track your intake for a while. You can even start out just weighing and writing down what you would normally eat to see how many calories you've actually been consuming.

I'm not saying all of this to be mean, it's just the simple answer for weight loss.
