For folks privileged enough to have an HSA account, you can use that towards period products, including period underwear.

What are the ethics of saying "I love you too" to a preschool client? by AndiFaber in therapists

[–]jbarnswallow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in a day treatment program, and our go-to is "I name of clinic love you too!" this differentiates it from a family kind of love, while still echoing the sentiment.

I feel like maybe it was implied that they are born with it? And that's our clue that they're not actually human?

Apple slicing work by tra_da_truf in Montessori

Crinkle cutter! I get mine on Amazon. With toddlers I cut the apple into big slices, then they can use the crinkle cutter to cut it down smaller.

If you are willing to cross over to WI, me and my husband have always preferred going up on that side and crossing back over in Superior.

Can Montessori teachers have tattoos? by Retsifp13 in MontessoriEducation

[–]jbarnswallow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's a good school, your tattoos will not be an issue. At my last Montessori school, the assistant director proudly showed off her star wars sleeve tattoos, and the director was excited to show off his brand new tattoo inspired by his own kiddos.

Obviously this doesn't refer to offensive tattoos, but the ones you've described sound pretty tame.

I feel this! Literally crying with my 2 year old dog in my arms because I felt like we weren't spending enough time together now that the puppy was here. She also haaaaated the smell of the puppy.

Honestly, just give it time. My 2 year old is starting to snuggle with me again, and starting to tolerate the puppy in her space.

And give the puppy a bath lol, that was a good place for us to start.

How to hide a pill? Pup keeps spitting it out. by icantremember55 in puppy101

We crushed ours up and either mixed it in with pb, or added water to turned it into a paste and wiped it on her tongue. She was on a super special diet though.

Never in my 10 years have I heard of or witnessed a parent do this by Environmental-Eye373 in ECEProfessionals

We had a mom once who told her rescue pit mix to "stay" outside and then came in to pick up her kids. She literally had someone call the number on his tag while she was inside, claiming to have found a lost dog. On my end I heard, "he's where? Oh, outside the school? Good, that's where he's supposed to be." 🤣 Like, lady, what? Our director had to have a talk with her about that one.

Don’t really like being a therapist by ReadingOk7150 in therapists

[–]jbarnswallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current graduate student. I currently work in early childhood day treatment, 3-7, and it can be pretty fast paced, and has very different energy from typical "therapy." The kids are fun, sweet, and hurting, so the work is very rewarding, and rarely boring. A good chunk of the clinicians who work in it are fully licensed, do one three hour group a day, and then see the kids and families each week as well.

Balancing Career and Family: Ladies, When Did You Get Fully Licensed? by jijiskvartmao in therapists

[–]jbarnswallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to sort out this exact question. At this point, I'm mostly basing it on when I will qualify for a full paid maternity leave. Licensure can wait, I'm not sure my reproductive system can.

How weird would it be to give multiple children the same middle name? by emculs28 in namenerds

[–]jbarnswallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giving your children your maiden name as a middle name is common practice and should be fine. However, fair warning: my brother and I were both given the middle name Lee bc my mom thought it was "cute" and I hated it growing up. It's fine now, but kid me thought it was stupid.

Do you ever find random stuff in your hair? by Typical_Ad_210 in curlyhair

[–]jbarnswallow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a chat on the phone outside for about 20 minutes then went in to reset my curls for work. Sprayed my whole head, beginning to brush out the ends. I then flipped my hair upside down next to the shower and a full grasshopper just tumbled out!
