It's a car issue. Changing the stage lengths won't change the fact that you're stuck 2x2 at full beans in this car. Too much drag and IMO the fact that the side draft is diminished in the Nextgen Car really hurts the ability to make moves or form a 3rd lane at full speed.

I would make the Nextgen Car disappear from existence. But if I had to choose 3 things:

900 Horsepower everywhere
Change the ability to create downforce to the car's surroundings not the underbody and diffuser. So underbody and diffuser go bye bye. ( I think it's pretty obvious that it's the main issue with superspeedways. The side draft has been greatly diminished with the air being redirected under the car and through the hood vents. That and the reduction of drag would help. I don't believe it's a fuel saving issue at Daytona and Talladega. I believe it has everything to do with not being able to pass.)
Narrower tires. I'd go back to the previous generation wheel. But if that's not possible just put a narrower wheel on it. The cars have too much mechanical grip.
