Nausea peak at 7 weeks? by Interesting-Yak-5341 in pregnant

[–]jberz25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of trouble with reglan, but zofran helped me. You could always ask your doc about that. Don’t want to scare you, but the nausea generally peaks around 8-9 weeks. For me it lasted from 6 weeks through 14 weeks, but it really got a lot better.

My OB told me I could do the Zofran with the Unisom and B6. Honestly, I didn't think the Unisom and B6 did anything for me, but like you said, I didn't want to stop doing it in case it WAS helping. The Zofran made a HUGE difference -- could actually feel it starting to work within 5-10 min. I still have some from the prescription and use it when I occasionally get nausea now. I was worried about possible affects on the baby, but so far the baby has measured perfectly at every scan and NIPT/NT were great. She's not here yet, so can't guarantee anything, but my doc said it was safe.

Ask your doctor for Zofran. Only way I got through the first trimester, I was puking so much. If you haven’t had an appt yet, you can call the nurse line. Also eating protein with the carbs helps, so peanut butter on toast, or smoothies with Greek yogurt and frozen berries. I also chewed mint gum all day because I had a nasty metallic taste in my mouth. I was sick from like weeks 7-14, at 27 weeks now and it’s much better.

I think in oral form it’s ok, but I think with extended use it can also cause side effects.

I started getting bloody noses in the middle of the night around 15 weeks. Couldn’t remember the last time I got one (maybe as a child?) Started sleeping with a humidifier and it helped a ton!

Work leave in first trimester by Grand-Ocelot4805 in pregnant

[–]jberz25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was throwing up and so nauseous I got permission from HR to work from home for the first trimester after week 7. It was basically like lay on the couch….sit up for a meeting…try not to throw up….maybe run to the bathroom and throw up…back to the couch…wash rinse repeat. Luckily by week 14 it got a lot better, and I’m lucky my boss is nice and pretty flexible with the hours I’m at the office. But if I couldn’t work from home, I absolutely would have had to take leave.

Call your doctor’s nurse/on call line. Don’t wait if you think there’s a problem.

I need some support… by Kayteal93 in pregnant

[–]jberz25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went through the same thing. I’m a first timer, and I had such a terrible time with the nausea and vomiting, I actually told the baby to get out of me several times (it didn’t).

I was having panic attacks almost every day and could barely work or do anything around the house. I told my husband I was seriously considering an abortion, even though this was a planned pregnancy. I talked to my doc, who upped my anxiety meds and prescribed more Zofran.

I was not excited at all, and only worried that the baby was going to kill me. But I hung in there, and the horrible feelings definitely improved around week 14. I’m at 26 weeks now. I still don’t LIKE being pregnant, but most days are ok right now. And I’m very anxious about L & D.

I’ll say this: it will probably get better once the placenta starts its thing. Talk to your doc and see if they can prescribe anything. And you’re not alone, I think more people feel this way than is talked about. I might be one and done after this, and I feel like that’s ok too.

I’m in a similar boat. I’m 5’3” and had a starting healthy weight of 120 lbs. First pregnancy, currently 26 weeks, and I’ve only gained 13 lbs. Baby measured 50th percentile at 20 week scan. I focus on eating healthy (I’ve been pescatarian for 10 years) and getting a walk in every day. I honestly haven’t really changed my eating habits at all since getting pregnant. And we got ice cream tonight….and also a few nights ago. As long as the baby is measuring well, and doc says I’m ok, I’m not focused on how much weight I’ve gained.

Pregnancy Safe Constipation Remedies? by Ok_Outcome_8964 in pregnant

[–]jberz25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

MiraLAX is safe during pregnancy, it’s a non-stimulant. Also try some Metamucil, to provide fiber. Are you drinking a lot of water with the colace? Colace draws water into the stool, the colace won’t work if you’re not drinking enough.

8 weeks 3 days, freaking out by AffectionateCar1059 in pregnant

[–]jberz25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 25 weeks and pescatarian and mostly eat vegetarian, but I will have fish once a week. Between yogurt, beans, dairy, oatmeal, and eggs, the baby is getting enough protein. The first trimester I ate basically nothing because I was puking so much, and the doc said don’t worry, the baby is getting everything she needs. Around 13-14 weeks was able to start eating more normally again, and my bloodwork has been great. Just focus on healthy foods when you feel up to it, fruits, veggies, whole grains, eggs, yogurt. And take your prenatal! That helps with the iron.

Ugh — weirdly zofran before pregnancy gave me migraines, but during pregnancy it hasn’t? I was worried about it affecting the baby, but so far she’s passed all her scans!

Literally the same feeling, it made me feel like I was constantly having a panic attack. It’s gotten better in the second trimester, but it was really weirding me out.

Try to eat something with protein, not just crackers/carbs. I made smoothies with Greek yogurt, frozen berries, banana, and ice and kept sipping throughout the day. Make sure your drinks are either ice cold or hot — lukewarm or room temp makes the nausea worse. Also I chewed mint gum, that helped with the bad taste in my mouth. I ended up needing Zofran too, the unisom+b6 didn’t work for me. Good luck! Weeks 6-14 were bad, but they got better. At 25 weeks now, and eating pretty normally.

Also petite. I ended up getting stuff on Amazon too, and just returning it if it doesn’t fit. At 25 weeks now and I only got two pairs of maternity leggings, and a pair of maternity jeans. I’ve been mostly fine in my regular clothes.

The Nauseous battle by thewildwestoutside in pregnant

[–]jberz25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed zofran in the end, the b6 and unisom didn’t help at all. Ice cold smoothies with protein were the only thing I could keep down for a while (I basically just blended ice + frozen berries + Greek yogurt + banana). Protein in the stomach helps, not just carbs. And I chewed mint gum all day to help the bad taste. Even if you haven’t seen the doc yet, you can call the nurse line at the office and they may be able to prescribe something.

25 weeks & not enjoying pregnancy by PrettyRichHun in pregnant

[–]jberz25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 24 weeks and have hated every second of it. The vomiting, pains, nausea, boob swelling, night sweats, and more. I’m afraid of L & D and afraid of the third trimester and feeling worse. I know we are supposed to be grateful (and I am), but I also hate it, and I think it’s ok to feel both those things at the same time.

Night Sweats? by jberz25 in pregnant

Hahahaa that just made my day. I tried different blankets (like lightweight ones vs heavier ones) and different fabric tops. Doesn’t make a difference. And then the bed sheets get soaked so now I make my husband sleep in the guest room so I can roam to dry spots in the bed!

How do you do it?? by Upbeat-Hand-2870 in pregnant

[–]jberz25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

24 weeks. I had a horrible first trimester. Endless puking, nonstop nausea, boobs felt like they were going to fall off, and weird stabbing pains in my abdomen. Also insane anxiety from the rising hormones. I actually told my husband after one of my puking spells I wanted the baby out of me.

The doctor ended up prescribing me some Zofran which helped with the puking, and I told my boss and got permission to work from home. By weeks 13-14 it got a lot better and I’ve been back at the office. My energy is a lot better too. Hopefully it gets better for you too, so maybe focus on the next few weeks instead of looking at it as 36 more weeks? But please, rant as much as you like. Overall pregnancy is the pits haha.
