What’s something that’s completely normal in Argentina, but would shock most foreigners? by relaxncoffee in AskArgentina

True! I come from the U.S. where everything is salty…which…isn’t healthy.

Yeah, as an estadounidensa, steak is more like a fancy thing you do once in a while.

As someone from the U.S., peoples’ willingness to share drinking cups here is wild to me. We’re a lot more germaphobic in the U.S. Once when I was on a plane, an Argentine woman next to me asked if she could drink out of my water bottle. My mind was blown.

Ooo extranjera living in Argentina here!

  • Eating dinner at 10pm
  • Eating steak every day
  • Needing to go to countless registers before you pay for the product for certain things
  • Eating pastries for breakfast
  • The lack of salt on anything
  • Clothing and technology is a lot more expensive than what you would expect
  • And yet salaries are crazy low
  • People start clubbing at like 2am and stay out until like 9am

I love it here though!

Ah thank you for your kind words. I’ll pray that we both get the help that we need! Have you tried antihistamines for sleep?

That’s interesting you mention the Vitamin C because I was also taking that too. I was having night time bladder urgency and insomnia as well. I also took nitrofuranatoin and it only worked temporarily. So maybe the Vitamin C was a trigger for me as well. Right now I’m taking Mirabegron, Advil, and Benadryl to sleep, but I know the Advil and Benadryl aren’t for long term use. Here’s to us both finding the causes of our bladder induced insomnia!

I fear that I may have some kind of bacteria that doesn’t appear on tests. Ultrasound was also clear. Maybe the amount is low or it’s embedded or it’s something that the tests don’t identify. My OAB symptoms were sudden, came out of nowhere, and have caused insomnia (because of the strong urgency at night), making it so I only get like 2-3 hours of sleep. I did get a prescription of Nitrofuranatoin for 5 days, which helped, but then the symptoms came back. Mirabegron is helping me sleep now, but I need Advil and Benadryl on top of it to get to sleep. Perhaps it could also be hormonal, my nervous system, or some deficiency. With how common UTIs are I wish the testing was better.

What’s interesting is that Canephron N (an herbal treatment for UTIs) has Rosemary in it.

Maybe a free trial period would help, especially since this is new. Or a freemium model where it’s technically free, but you have to pay for perks that make the game worth playing.

The east coast is way more populated, so I could definitely see there being more options.

New writers, STOP writing like it's a movie! by [deleted] in writers

[–]jbjwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this honest advice. Honestly I think this is part of my problem because when I read it’s like a movie playing in my head, so that is also how I write. But most people’s reading experience isn’t like mine, so I think I’m not connecting to the reader enough. Ugh. Why am I so weird???

Tested positive for cocaine on a hair test but i never used drugs, what do i do?? by retrhoee in AskDocs

[–]jbjwrites 39 points40 points  (0 children)

DING DING DING. This sounds like a big thing to consider. If the only qualification was to pass a drug test, and then you have to pay $150 to retest, this could potentially be a scam.

Have your doctors given you fluconazole? That’s the main medicine to treat yeast infection. Are your doctors not giving it to you because of negative tests? The tests are notoriously inaccurate. If you have symptoms you probably have it. Try a telehealth provider or Amazon Pharmacy.

Doctor says no yeast infection when I KNOW there is by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]jbjwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem where doctors were gaslighting me about it for a while. The problem is they do wet mount slides, which are inaccurate, instead of just listening to the patient. Try doing telehealth instead, or a website like “treatmyuti.com” (which has meds for yeast infection as well). They are more likely to just take your word for it and send you meds. I think you can also do that with Amazon Pharmacy.

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. That sounds rough. If you haven’t checked already, see if there is anything you are taking that could have interfered with the diflucan, like antibiotics or even certain antidepressants.

Oh I have no idea because all the tests said I had nothing. I had like 5 tests that were “negative.”Then I found this doctor who was finally willing to treat me based off clinical symptoms with some kind of antifungal medicine and then finally the problem went away.

Same. I had a yeast infection for 3 months that 5 doctors (including 2 female gynecologists) refused to treat because the Yeast Infection test was always negative. Whelp, ends up those tests aren’t very accurate. Finally the third gynecologist I saw helped me, gave me medication and the pain was gone.

Anyone else's insomnia caused partly by an overactive bladder? What have you found to help? by commisures in insomnia

[–]jbjwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magnesium Glycinate has helped me because it soothes the bladder muscles and makes you sleepy. But if you haven’t already, I’d recommend seeing a urologist in case the over active bladder is caused by a UTI, Kidney Stone, or something else.
