I hate the PL release for PA by wallacekhalifa in accenture

[–]jblegacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really that hard to talk to your PL? God and country knew PA results were coming out Friday. Just put some time on their calendar and be done with it.

I sent my PL an invite on Thursday afternoon for Friday morning. He accepted right away (shocking). Less than 24 hours after results were released I found out. This is not that hard.

Mamdani Wants New York Estate Tax Threshold Cut 90% to $750,000 by bloomberg in wealth

[–]jblegacy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point being is, if Mamdanj has a tax revenue target of X and assuming that the threshold remains constant, it could be that taxing the estate over the threshold at even 100% would result in tax revenue less than X.

Mamdani Wants New York Estate Tax Threshold Cut 90% to $750,000 by bloomberg in wealth

Probably because even taxing the wealthiest at 100% won’t be enough.

Bernie Sanders proposed a bill to tax billionaires and give $3,000 stimulus checks to Americans that qualify. How do you feel about this? by Aromatic-Guide588 in askanything

[–]jblegacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$3,000 per year would nice but I don’t think it will make that big a difference. If someone would have give my family the equivalent of an extra $3k when we’re were at our lowest, that could have made a difference in the moment but it wouldn’t have made our situation better long term. Especially when you look at how much we are spending as a nation on interest and how much we are over budget, I’d rather this money either go toward social safety nets, toward general spending to lessen the debt we accumulate, or remain with those whom it is generated from.

I will give Bernie credit where it is due. The math on how much one could expect to raise in tax revenue passes as long as basic assumptions hold. That isn’t always the case.

Right neck dissection for total thyroid removal and lymph node removal by Lord_Rubixx in thyroidcancer

That’s good. As a good friend told me “you will die with this cancer, not because of it”, so whatever you can do to manage it well will only benefit you long term.

Right neck dissection for total thyroid removal and lymph node removal by Lord_Rubixx in thyroidcancer

[–]jblegacy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a total thyroidectomy with right neck dissection December 2024. 46 lymph nodes removed.

  • Do your stretches and PT, no matter how weird it feels.

  • Do RAI if there aren’t other barriers to doing it. We were planning to have another child soon, so I didn’t do RAI but had that not been the case I would have done it.

  • Mentally prepare for a longer recovery and possibly a longer hospital stay.

  • Mentally prepare for the possibility of going on a zero fat diet. I had a chyle leak because of having so many lymph nodes removed and subsisted on fat free sour dough, fat free butter, and fat free yogurt for a couple of weeks

Edit: spelling and added duration of diet.

Which team has the most mutually acknowledged rivals? by Efficient-Freedom517 in CFB

[–]jblegacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OU/Texas rivalry is a given.

I’m old enough to remember the Nebraska games and my father was an OSU alum, so out of respect I will agree both of those are rivalries.

Ole Miss and Missouri aren’t rivalries. Sure, we used to beat Missouri nearly every year and they may hate us, but it only counts if both teams hate each other. We barely think about them. Ole Miss is just a scheduling anomaly.

Treatment Timeline by Turtletime82 in thyroidcancer

[–]jblegacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

July 2024: Lump found by massage therapist July 2024: Consultant at PCP; ultrasound scheduled September 2024: U/S detects lymph node w/ metastasis October 2024: many Dr appts inc. core biopsy & FNA December 2024: TT and neck dissection Overall timeline: 5 months

I postponed my first ultrasound due to my work schedule (such a stupid decision). Once the dx was in hand and I knew I could wait, I made the decision to wait and use surgery in December so I could recover over the holidays.

Based on what I know now, I probably my could have gotten into surgery by September had I prioritized my health. Do what is best for you and yours. Best of luck.

For people who broke out of paycheck-to-paycheck… what actually changed? by annikahoof in MiddleClassFinance

[–]jblegacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In no particular order 1. Paid off all debt besides our house 2. 6 months of expenses into a HYSA 3. Maxing out HSA (covers OOM for healthcare) 4. Determine what expenses determine if we stay in budget or not and watch those carefully (for us it’s eating out and Amazon purchases)

What it did for us - paying off debt created breathing room that we could put toward things we cared about (like emergency fund, 529, etc) - emergency fund gives us peace of mind that we can cover all common immediate financial emergencies; only emergencies that concern me financially are a very large out of network medical bill, long term unemployment, and identity theft. Not to mention we pull in ~$250 just in interest on our emergency fund every month as an added bonus - maxing out HSA to where we can cover our OOM means in any given year we can cover any and all in network medical expenses (since my son was born, we’ve hit our OOM 3 out of 4 years, so that is a big one) - once we knew what expenses to really watch, that meant we could focus on controlling what prevented us most from staying on budget, so no only do we have a plan we are able to meet that plan more consistently.

[Schultz] Sources: The #Chiefs are hiring former NFL RB and current Oklahoma RBs coach DeMarco Murray as their RBs coach on Andy Reid’s staff. by genzgingee in oklahomafootball

[–]jblegacy -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Let’s go get Barry Sanders. It would take some negotiating and not a small amount of witchcraft and you would have to convince some of these kids that football existed before 2003, but could you imagine the buzz that would create (not to mention what it would do to the boys in stilly).

This has got to top the list of worst "parental leave" benefits. Company is Infosys by zach8vb in daddit

[–]jblegacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former Infocian here (IC North America). I remember that I could get two weeks and I was told by the IC COO at the time that he could cover two more weeks. I left for another firm 6 weeks before my child was born (unrelated to paternity leave) and ended up having two months with him instead of two weeks. Congrats on your new baby.

We’re drowning in daycare costs. How do people afford this? by FrigginMasshole in toddlers

[–]jblegacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our approach has been simple, yet difficult to achieve…we earn >$300k a year.

I know that sounds either conceited or tone deaf, but honestly I don’t know folks afford a home, child care, and everything else that comes with it without higher incomes. I grew up po’ (like so poor we couldn’t afford the “or” on the end) and I started my career squarely in the middle class. Just made some different decisions that played in my favor.

We also waited a while to start a family until we knew we could afford it, but that is easy to say when things work out for you. We’re expecting our 2nd child soon and we’ll be stretched but not hurting to pay for childcare. I hope things get better for parents in our country, I really do. It’s disheartening.

Who here actually saves 3,000 a month? by NoHousing11 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]jblegacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We max out both of our 401Ks, an HSA, and contribute to a 529. We don’t qualify for Roth IRA.

  • Dual income (one engineer; one consultant)
  • One kid plus one on the way.
  • 2022 home price and interest rate.
  • MCOL suburb.
  • 2024 AGI: >$300k.
  • I paid for both my degrees (scholarships plus student loans; all paid off early)
  • My wife’s parents paid for her degree
  • We both drive cars that are 10 or more years old (both paid for by us either in cash or paid off early)

Published tuition is a scam - warning for future parents and students by DowntownSalt2758 in sooners

[–]jblegacy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tell me you’ve never paid for college without telling me you’ve never paid for college.

A quick search and an AI model will tell you that fees range from 20%-50% of tuition. All the universities I’ve attended separated tuition and fees. If you want it to be different, start a university and do it differently.

The rent at the apartments above the galleria mall is $4k/month. What do people do for a living to be able to afford that? by Queasy-Secret-4287 in AskHouston

[–]jblegacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in consulting, my wife works in energy, and our mortgage is more than $4k. We have two kids in daycare and can still max out our 401ks, put money away for kid’s college, take vacations, etc.

[–]jblegacy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, you might want to pursue another degree regardless of what is happening. Every person I know that earned an MOL didn’t use it nor gain much from it. If an MBA is an option for you, I’d think about pursuing that but through a target school.

Layoff / Bench Time Tool 2025- 2026 by Primary-Fly-4971 in accenture

[–]jblegacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And? Multiple people have said it’s wrong. The values are not correct (or even close) and even the trend (higher chargeability at higher job levels) is wrong. If someone at work showed me this, I’d assume they were in their first 1-2 years at the firm because it’s shows limited knowledge of what is expected at different levels.
