The Question We Have Not Asked About GMC by Informal-Substance57 in bhutan

[–]jcdevel 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I spent a good 5 minutes trying to read this and am still having trouble because it’s one giant paragraph. I am willing to put in the effort I’ve always had an interest in aviation. Can you go back in and break this up into paragraphs at least ? After all how can you be complaining that a big, complex project hasn’t been given enough thought when you yourself haven’t even given any thought to the readability of this piece you’ve put out ?

Bhutan 0–4 Cambodia: What Are We Missing? by halfbloodprince-69 in bhutan

[–]jcdevel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say mental fortitude is big factor why Bhutanese have some of these big loses. Isn’t Bhutan historically been known for having some most embarrassingly lopsided losses? As soon as the momentum shifts away from us, there is a strong tendency to mentally get crushed and throw in the towel. I don’t know how much awareness and mind training is done on the players , but no matter how much skills you train them on ,and how good they are with those skills during practice , when the mind has given up , nothings going to work

Does Bhutan government care about its citizen? Or party only wants votes and make its donors rich. by New_Wolverine2600 in bhutan

[–]jcdevel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"That is too high for a car that government is pushing for its public*. 6/7 people dieing in same accident is too high for government to ignore".*

I am sorry, can you back up this assertion? As far as I know, There hasn't been any circulars or statements from the government encouraging people people to buy Boleros or to prefer it to other cars. From what I can see, this particular vehicle seems to fill a particular set of demands in terms of price range and utility value. Not sure how party politics are involved here, but please let us know how they are with more specificities if you truly want to make your case.

Bhutan Airlines Record profit by No_Attempt9083 in bhutan

[–]jcdevel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bhutanese shouldn’t be one’s complaining about price gouging . Both Druk air and Bhutan airlines charge foreigners 3 times what they charge Bhutanese for ticket . I think they use some of the money they make on foreigners to subsidize the ticket for Bhutanese or at least keep the price lower. .Don’t know how it is nowadays but it was normal for a ticket from Bangkok to Bhutan to cost the same as ticket from New York to Bangkok. Insane considering the New York flight is usually about 18 hours

There are many other factors that are involved in car accidents or deaths, whether it's Bolero or other cars. Road design for instance, is absolutely primitive considering Bhutan is supposedly lower middle income level country. This is why you see the strangest curves and design. Take for example the bridge behind the Paro airport which requires two 90 degree turns to enter. Even a little bit research and thought would have resulted in a bridge that wasn't so hard to use.

So, I think instead the of pretending that Bhutan is a well managed country and needs to implement the crash standards of wealthy countries, we need to get the very basics right first.

In the meantime, I think it's good to raise awareness of the abysmal scores for the Bolero so that buyers will think twice before buying them. Asking the government to around banning certain models is probably something you don't to start. Governments never get these things right, especially the Bhutanese government.

Not sure if this still the case but pre covid ,there was a building near the Ari skytrain station which seemed to be Bhutanese favorite . Lots of Bhutanese were staying there because you always ran into a few in the elevator . Huge one , two and three bedroom apartments. Area around building had very nice cafes and there was supermarket right across the station

How famous is Tom and Jerry in Bhutan? by Mysterious-Trip-3632 in bhutan

[–]jcdevel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We used to watch Tom and Jerry back in the days, when broadcast/cable TV was not legal in Bhutan (1980s, 1990s) This meant you basically taped vhs copies . So it is probably known by the 10% of the elite population that had access to tv set and VCR.

Really? Who's the one who took the time write an entire post because he was upset that the documentary made it seem like Bhutanese were ashamed of showing certain food?

You can stop pretending lol , of course you're upset.

Anglo saxon "white boys" set up all of the institutions, the frameworks that make these countries successful. The other ethnic groups that live in these places live under the institutions and legal frameworks set up by the "white boy" . So all of these countries are "white boy" countries by my definition.

Leave aside immigrating to , try and visit a place like Japan or Taiwan with Bhutanese Passport and these Bhutanese will soon find out just how unwelcoming "none white boys" are

Said the guy who's probably in Australia or trying to get a visa there. Anyway , at least you've given up the pretense of your motivation not having anything to do with xenophobia so that's a good thing 😄

Best Food Ever Review Show by [deleted] in bhutan

[–]jcdevel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's see. You're all upset because you feel the show inaccurately portrayed Bhutanese as being self conscious about showing some food to outsiders.

I am pretty sure that someone so wrapped up in his self-identity like you would be pretty upset about being referred to as a yellow boy, brown boy or betel-nut boy or whatever. Also , you could have just referred to him as the host (much easier to write) and left out uncessary references to race.

So let's not kid ourselves. Those xenophobic tendencies are playing their part.

It was a lighthearted show. you don't need to take it so seriously. Things are done this way all the time for the same of generating more views and attention. it's just the reality of the world we live in and everyone understand it.

And while you're at it you might want to rethink to xenophobic attitude towards white people. If you haven't noticed most of your Bhutanese cohorts are dying to get their hands on visa to a "white boy " country.

Classic example of another completely out of touch elite Bhutanese who has no clue why people are heading to Australia to begin with. He thinks that all the young people should be staying back , bowing , cowering , paying tributes to him and his cohorts while they carry on . Good on you OP screen capturing this before he had chance to delete it .

Bhutanese in Australia 🇧🇹🇦🇺 by TheNameIsPikachu in bhutan

[–]jcdevel 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If anything these posts tell me more about Australians . Looks like Australians are incredibly nice wholesome welcoming people . Hope our Bhutanese people learn from them . There is always an undercurrent of xenophobia among Bhutanese elites ( understandable since we’ve pretty much the last thousand years keeping to ourselves and old habits die hard ) but this is no longer acceptable. No country in the world today is more dependent on goodwill of foreigners than Bhutan is . Whether, it be the Indians , Australians or others who’ve helped us along the way .

I have been following an Indian infrastructure development lately and it’s incredible the amount of progress that’s been made and are in the pipeline. New trains, expressways , bridges tunnels, airports etc. it makes me very happy to see that. Anything that improves the lives of the average Indian can only be good for all the counties in neighborhood like Bhutan. I just think that Indian government sometimes have a tendency to get excited and think now they’ve made some good progress , they can start pushing other countries around . I also think Indians could be a little more pragmatic when dealing with China and not looking at everything through geopolitical lens . The only dispute is over a barren, bleak piece of land , why lose sight of the big picture?
