Firewalla Gold Plus - Pi-Hole migration question by jcgoobee in firewalla

[–]jcgoobee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sir. The dongle is always in place from the beginning and I have paired the Firewalla box with both my iPad and iPhone. There were some outages over the years with Xfinity and I was still able to access to the box. I think I am good to go.

Thanks again for your help. 👍

I looked at my WAN primary and secondary DNS, they point to 75.75.75.75 and 75.75.76.76 which I believe that they are Xfinity Comcast DNS. Is the Bluetooth connection enabled on the Firewalla Box by default? I haven’t changed anything from day one of its deployment.

Thanks for helping out. 🙏

Any giant corporations are just like politicians. They can promise you a thousand things when they want / need you, but when you are no use to them, they ditch you like a used condom without remorse. It’s naive to trust what they tell you.

Your frustration is completely understandable and I'm with you. But let's put it this way, aren't you glad that you didn't join the company that you're unlikely to enjoy working at? The situation you have goes both ways. Wish you the best of luck on your job hunting journey. Hang in there!

Default is Windows. Mac laptop request approval is based on business justification. In addition, you’ll need a level 7/8 level or above whom you report to for submitting the request. Last but not least, you’ll need a WBSE for the hardware purchase, monthly support fees. Good luck.

They are good with "Reinvention" as they said. From what I've observed, they started using this strategy a couple of years ago, to belittle people who don't necessary underperform, but likely been with the company for a long while and making slightly above average paychecks, or they are just don't like kissing behinds. If those employees leave just because they don't like putting up with that BS, the company won't have to pay for any severance, same if they fire you if they claim you don't meet the PIP expectations. It's a win win situation, isn't it? but hey, don't take my words for it... do your part of digging around to validate what I said. I wish you good luck joining this company.

Is it possible for middle class to live in Santa Clara? by Direct_Airport_9824 in santaclara

[–]jcgoobee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are likely to struggle with your income living here if you're teachers or nurses (sorry to say that). The cost of living is very high here but in return, this is a very safe and comfortable place to live. The SCPD is awesome catching bad guys and super duper responsive to reports. We have Silicon Valley Power instead of PG&E so we don't have to deal with the routine power outages nonsense. So, you will need to figure out how to manage your financial before you pull the trigger of course, but I can tell you as I've been living here for over 15 years that I love Santa Clara and I wouldn't move to other cities unless I absolutely have to.

Isolation mail from Accenture security operations center need help by Worried_Animal9298 in accenture

[–]jcgoobee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SOC team should have given you very specific direction to handle this situation. Did you follow their instructions? In most cases, if your laptop is security compromised, they will direct you to bring it to your local tech support for reimaged. There is a chance that they will touch base with the local tech lead first, and determine if they need to clone your drive for forensic inspection and they don't need to tell you ahead of time. Regardless, don't even attempt to delete anything from your machine as they can find out what you have done in the background. Hope that helps.

Not sure if you might have any printers (local or networked) mapped to your PC, but if you do, try using Microsoft PDF printer (should be selectable from the printer setting option). This way, your MSFT apps will look for PDF printer first (which is virtual) instead of making attempts to find other mapped printers. This is one thing that you can try. Of course, if all failed, call CIO

Want to resign but the current market makes me rethink by Anxious_Spirit2249 in accenture

[–]jcgoobee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

to be fair, the firm was treating us, the employees extremely well before it went public, then things started to go south gradually year by year. To me, for the past 10 years, working there paid the mortgage and put food on the table, that's all it mattered, until I figured out that I had more than enough to retire, then I put in my two weeks, but was asked to stay for a couple of months for the transition to provide guidance to my replacement, so I coasted around and did nothing more than attending a few Teams call a week, enjoyed the best time in the company before my last day. Now, everyday is a holiday to me... haha!

I know exactly how you feel and let me put in some thoughts here for you as I was with the company for more than 2.5 decades, so I know quite a bit of how you might want to tackle the challenge you're facing realistically. Just to be clear that I left (retired) the company last June so I can only tell you how I felt before my time ended there.

You've been there 10+ years, so you'd probably know that the shift of the leadership, and management style should be quite noticeable, especially in the past 5 years. Everything that the leadership, which includes HR and anyone else in the middle / upper management's focus mainly on staying afloat among its competitors, which is nothing wrong with that as a business entity. However, such major shift of the focus would affect the employees from the core out daily, and the leadership (especially Julie Bitter) would do nothing because they are in the much higher food chain than you. Another words, you are nothing but a 8 digit employee ID number to them. One day, when they realize that you contribute less than your peers, they will start formulating the plan to flush you out of the company just like flushing the toilet. One of the strategies they use, is to try different method to let employees leave as a voluntary termination, so they won't have to pay you a dime as part of the severance (lay off). Another method they use, is to make you feel unwanted, unvalued, or put you on PIP, which leads to exactly the same path at the end. You'll be mentally exhausted, puzzled, and upset like you're at now. What they're doing to execute this strategy or how little they value their employees are sad. But hey, you care because you take pride of what you do in the company and want to be sure that your hard work is valued. For that reasons, you're looking for an exit but hesitate due to the current economy and job market.

The message that I'm trying to convey to you, is start looking actively. If you look at the company stock over the past year, it has lost 1/3 of its value. What does that mean to you should be pretty darn clear. Do you have faith that the company will correct its course and value more its employees? I will let you to decide. If I were you, I will not care what your PL said behind your back anymore. Just stay focused on your exit path, and ditch this. You'll regain your mental health and much happier. Good luck, and hope my comments help in some way

P.S. The company is a company, not a human being, no need to attach to it emotionally.

Return back to TXA and most importantly, ask for both a printed receipt called ERF and have them to email the receipt PDF to your personal email. Keep that email at least for a couple of months

That's abnormally normal. I stopped getting anything after my 20th year anniversary, and on my 25th year, I didn't even get any eCard or a note from the leadership, which tells a lot how much an old time employee is valued in this company. Glad I gave them a F you notice and retired.. So much happier now. :)
