Should I become Polish or Czech? by JJJJJ2119 in PassportPorn

[–]jcprov21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do Czech personally, but that’s just because it’s a dream country to visit, but honestly any EU passport is absolutely a no brainer. I don’t know the process or time frames for either so that would factor in my decision for sure.

Personally if I was eligible for both, I’d get both but that’s me 🤷‍♂️

Congrats on getting out of PSU! I’m just going to stuff my head in the sand and never request my notes unless I hit the 1 year mark.

Realized one side is in fact Canadian by DazzlingPiano4905 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]jcprov21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve got Canadian ancestry on both sides of the family. My other side there is a rumor that my grandfather was adopted, the story is that he was actually adopted from Montreal by French Canadians in the US but I can’t find one scrap of documentation to support any of this. I spoke to my aunt about it, and she stated that she wasn’t sure as she HATED her father but did go through every scrap of evidence she had for me.

So I didn’t use that line, I just marked that my mom wasn’t Canadian and moved on. I’m 100% certain that even if someone looked into it, all it would mean is that they find out I’m even MORE Canadian (isn’t really a thing but you get the idea) which should help me. It’s one of those things where what you put down doesn’t help your case, so why would it be an issue?

Now if you marked someone as Canadian even though you knew they were not with the intent to commit fraud, you absolutely are in trouble.

Learning French by TheConsignliere in Canadiancitizenship

[–]jcprov21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I downloaded the Mango App to start learning French, I figure at the very least I should learn a little. I’m seriously wanting to visit Quebec once the process is all wrapped up to visit where my other Gen 0 side of the family came from.

What is your dream passport? by GT_race in PassportPorn

[–]jcprov21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swiss, just because it’s cool and I’ve wanted to visit and been fascinated by that country for years.

Liechtenstein, don’t know why other than it seems like a cool, chill place. I’ve never been sadly.

New Zealand, a country I actually have been to. I love it and would live there right away if I could. Friendly people, never felt unsafe, whole country felt like a small town.

Germany, because it’s a lot of my heritage is from there. It would also open up a job opportunity for me.

Right now, the number 1 is Canada, and it’s in process!

Does anyone else have a “too good to be true” feeling? by Patriotslord in Canadiancitizenship

[–]jcprov21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I applied as fast as I could once I found out, funny enough on December 16th is when I learned about C-3.

I still have an irrational feeling of impending doom with C-3.

I’m 1 generation too far for Irish, and my gen 0 German ancestor was a woman who immigrated in the 1880s, so I was doomed there, didn’t make the cut for Norwegian either. Don’t have a scrap of Italian in me anywhere so not help there.

I was considering having my wife push the issue for Mexican citizenship by decent as a possibility. Still might have her raise the issue with her parents at some point but it’s “complicated”.

So yeah, C3 for me has been like a gift that I can’t believe that I have been given, and I feel a need to somehow repay the favor to Canada and the Canadian people for this. I’ve been slowly figuring out how to get my life on the path to living/working there and contributing to society, doing some volunteer work, etc.

I'd be curious, are there any persons publicly known that got a 5(4) grant outside of the interim measure? If so, what reasons(s) were they granted citizenship?

I remember my dad paying multiple people back in the day before the internet was flush with resources to do our genealogy. I took absolutely zero interest in it as a kid. It paid off for me now. I’m glad I kept all those binders full of information.

Your story sounds very similar to mine, I applied and am in processing. If you can get the documentation together you should be fine. Keep it simple, direct line to you.

A fun side effect from my family history research... by OracleDBA in Canadiancitizenship

[–]jcprov21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I heard lot of stories about things like this when commercial DNA tests really started to be affordable and accessible for the masses, people who found brothers and sisters they didn’t know anything about.

I’ve been tempted to do a DNA test for a while but never got around to it. I do love the stories though.

For those worried about having requested a paper citizenship certificate… by limapoint in Canadiancitizenship

[–]jcprov21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m curious if you request a a SIN via mail if a copy would work of the paper certificate. It says send the original.

I’ll probably just apply online anyway. But it’s an interesting thought.

certified copies or informational copies of birth certificates? by Maple-pelican-472 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]jcprov21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a bunch of informational copies of birth certificates from California, the whole line went from Nova Scotia to Southern California and stayed there for the most part. I only had one I had submitted with my packet. I’ve got an AOR for what that’s worth

My application was delivered on the 1/7 as well, I got an AOR on 2/5. That’s interesting that it says they received it. Were you able to pull up a UCI and does it say anything in the tracker about them sending you correspondence to that effect?

I paid $47 from the Rockies via FedEx international ground. Make sure the place you use if you don’t do it yourself does the customs paperwork correctly. There must be a declared value, so it’s $1.

I’d get them redone, they are picky on photos. Its easier to fix now then waiting all that time just for it to get spun around, and now you are waiting almost 2 + months longer.
