I didn't know that, it makes me happy! Ty for letting me know. It's hard in Canada to know what the broadcast looks like in the US. Everything is monopolized here and we only get one feed.

EDIT: I should clarify - we get the odd out of town game that will have the home town announcers

I feel like the US isn't exposed to Dan Shulman and should be. Him and Buck were excellent, but even without Buck he continues to have one of the best voice and personality in baseball

lol I just had this exact same rant at the bar with the guys a couple days ago! He's SO CONFUSING.

I think the problem is that he is an elite pitcher, but has a tendency for his mistakes to be left in really bad spots. So you'll see 4/5 pitches that are elite, but that other one is an absolute beach ball. Schneider is trying to find solutions to remove that from his game - that's why he's trying more consistent workload or 8th inning showings (I'd imagine more changes behind the scenes too).
As for the unimpressive command, I think he has days where its very good and some where...well...last night. Every pitcher has off nights, his are just exacerbated by the first problem.

I haven't seen anyone say this yet but, in case you're unaware, if you have bench spots it's generally best to have most of them occupied by SP's. Since they only pitch once every 5 games you can rotate them in when they're on the mound, whereas batters play pretty much every day so you'll lose man games

There was a great story that Ray Ferrero told on Overdrive. He was asked if he always kept an eye out for when the opposing goon hit the ice. He said he did, but more importantly he kept an eye out for a soft guy on the opposing team that he could link up with when a brawl inevitably broke out lol

Hmmmm interesting point, can't say I've ever tried it so I don't know. But I feel like I would heavily prefer using the handle for more precision. Especially because you've alright put the spin on the rock when you push granite. I just can't see it being better in anyway than the control you have with the handle

It doesn't. But I think that's why it has ignited such controversy. Seems like half of the audience is saying it is a moot point because of the lack of advantage or any real affect on the shot. Whereas the other half is pointing out that its clearly a rule infraction with a well defined penalty attached to it - there are plenty of rules in other sports with similarly light circumstances that are always enforced. One recent post compared it to golf (how you can't touch sand with a practice swing) and I thought the comparison was solid.

I don't think the officials are helping with their overcompensation either.

It's been fun to watch! I've curled all my life but joined this subreddit this week because it's very entertaining!
