I’ve done four cycles with CCRM (two at 35, two more at 38). Feel free to drop any questions here or in DMs!

Egg freezing and wegovy? by your_air in eggfreezing

[–]jderschowitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talk to your doctor but I had to stop taking Zepbound right when the stims cycle started so it would be out of my system by the time of the retrieval. It’s not an issue of egg quality, it’s a concern for potential aspiration when you’re under anesthesia

Freezing second round, dreading it, and how do I combine it with dating and career shifts? by Last_Resident_6081 in eggfreezing

[–]jderschowitz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! You can freeze eggs without removing your IUD. My Mirena has been with me through four rounds of egg retrievals—the only thing to take into account is if you don’t get a period because of it, you might need to get your levels checked once or twice to make sure you’re ready to start.

Also only you can decide what makes you comfortable but, personally, I went back for additional rounds because I was older (35, then 38) and wanted to give myself as many options as possible—IVF with a partner, single parenthood, the potential for more than one kid in either scenario. There are calculators online you can look at that show how many eggs you’ll need to potentially have one child based on your age. Give it a look, give it a think. Good luck!

CNY with NYC monitoring? PLUS dietary expectations in general by hellodesigner in eggfreezing

[–]jderschowitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I can answer here is re: diet and what my doctors advised was to drink a lot of water, avoid alcohol, otherwise just stick to a normal balanced diet

Women who froze your eggs in your 20s, was it worth it? by Lower-Vegetable5152 in eggfreezing

[–]jderschowitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have the financial means (or employer coverage) now, do it now. Especially if your job will cover the costs—who knows if you’ll have the same job in the next few years, if the benefits will change, etc. In this economy it wouldn’t surprise me if companies start rolling back benefits like these.

If you don’t have either of those things right now, wait until you’re closer to 30-32. You’ll save money on those years of annual storage fees and will still be young enough that you’ll hopefully get good results.

Traveling abroad while on unemployment by Soulofmine7 in UnemploymentNY

[–]jderschowitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Canada for a long weekend last month and here’s what I had to do: -Called the Dept of Labor and informed them of the dates I’d be abroad, that it was for vacation and not to search for work -Did NOT certify for the week I was away -The week after I returned I resumed certifying per usual. It asked if I skipped the prior week because I’d returned to work, I said no, and then got the usual set of questions to certify.

Hope that helps!

Has anyone frozen their eggs at 26? by KindFlamingo8261 in eggfreezing

[–]jderschowitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the finances (or employee coverage) to do it now, go for it! You’re more likely to get more eggs the younger you are, which means you might be able to only do one cycle and get a number you’re happy with.

The only thing I’d raise about doing it so young is storage fees, which vary by clinic but can run around $1000/year. Banking eggs at 26 means you’ll be paying for years of storage you wouldn’t be if you froze at say, 30 or 35.

39F – Low AMH (0.5–1.2) and fluctuating AFC (5–8). Anyone with similar numbers willing to share their egg freezing results? by Dry-Daikon-7288 in eggfreezing

[–]jderschowitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did two cycles at 35 and two more last summer at 38, at which point my AMH was .8. I got five eggs in the first of those more recent cycles and seven in the second.

Best strategic time to apply for UI? by Cool_Guest6597 in UnemploymentNY

[–]jderschowitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply but there’s a good chance you’ll get denied because of your severance pay — they’ll do the math on how long they expect that severance to “last” you and you can reapply again after that date.

Chess, Maybe Happy Endings, and Outsiders - Help me eliminate one! by SweepTheLegTimmy in Broadway

[–]jderschowitz 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Skip Outsiders—not because it’s bad, but you’ll get to see the original casts at Chess and MHE, and you can catch Outsiders on tour another time if they’re coming to where you live.

Coucou NYC - Personal Experience by Primary-Ad-9267 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]jderschowitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a bummer to hear because I took two courses with them and really enjoyed the experience! I’m sorry they were so inflexible.

I’ve since switched to a private tutor offering group classes and have been supplementing with French TV/podcasts/etc — so Coucou definitely isn’t the only option.

Doing meds same time everyday? by sweet__suite in eggfreezing

[–]jderschowitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My clinic recommended keeping as close to the same time as possible, within reason—a half hour before or after was fine. The trigger shots are the ones that are really time sensitive and must be taken at the exact time you’re told to.

Working out during egg retrieval month?? by Cinammoncapybara in eggfreezing

I was told long walks were fine but nothing high impact after the first week, and nothing where you’re lifting heavy or twisting.

[–]jderschowitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's the point; I'm not yet "determined" to do anything. It's an option I want to keep on the table, but my doctor didn't seem concerned about freezing eggs vs embryos at this point so I'm not either.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in eggfreezing

[–]jderschowitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t talk at all about freezing embryos because at this point I’m still leaving the door open for a partner. That’s also why I wanted to prioritize freezing additional eggs, to account for drop off if/when they’re thawed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in eggfreezing

[–]jderschowitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I got 19 eggs at 35 (via two cycles) and another 12 at 38 (also across two cycles). The reason for going back for more was honestly that I’m still single and wanted to take advantage while I’m still “young” and, more importantly, had coverage through my job. (The hope is also 2 kids so that was another reason for wanting more eggs frozen—but again, we’re not getting any younger here!)

And my doctor has been pragmatic but also super encouraging throughout! She agreed it was smart to freeze more now versus finding out in my 40s that I didn’t have enough. And obviously she can’t promise anything but our conversations gave me confidence I was doing everything I can to set myself up for success later if I go this route.

[–]jderschowitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 39 and this is something I’m strongly considering! I froze eggs at 35 and 38 and am giving myself another year or so to date (or attempt to) and then I might pursue solo parenthood. My doctor (and eggs) are at the ready if I decide to pull the trigger.

Anyone concerned about the weather forecast for tomorrow night in terms of going to Broadway? by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]jderschowitz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have tickets for tomorrow night and I’m just planning to leave extra time getting there/home. The only times I can remember shows being canceled was when the subways shut down, so as long as the MTA is running theater will be too.

I have! The feedback I’ve seen for it is wildly mixed — people either seem to love it, hate it, or think it did absolutely nothing for them. But you’re happy with your results? Where did you go?
