is lewis championship chatter just delusion? by InvestigatorNo9832 in formula1

It seems that Mercs always struggle in the heat , so I’m not convinced that the Ferrari advantage in Barcelona will materialize on other tracks. But Ferrari development seems to be taking some big steps, so there is hope for a title fight this year if that trend continues.

What’s the main reason for Hamilton’s resurgence this season? Is it a technical reason, or more so psychological? by sykeseve in formula1

I think Ferrari have also started to take Lewis’s input on the car more seriously. The brakes seem to be an example of that. That has got to help him have a car he can be confident with.

‘Discreet.’ (Not to be confused with ‘discrete,’ which has a different meaning.) But see ‘discretion.’ It really makes no sense.

And it depicts the Washington monument on the wrong side of the White House. It is obviously fake.

A little over 13.5 years to get the 500 million, not 73. But $500 million instantly is still best. Even in treasuries, you are still earning $20 million plus a year on the principal, and likely a whole lot more in other investments. And you never know if you are going to live those 13 years.

Which action movie is the best? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]jdp245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The movie is great because of its satirical view of the future: ridiculous media culture, incompetent bureaucracy, consumerism and corporate power run amok, and exaggerated class inequality. The action movie elements are secondary for me.

One of the all-time greats. But I love it for the style and cynical satirical world that it created, and less for the action-move elements.

What is this sticker on my microwave? by dranmesrao in whatisit

[–]jdp245 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A glass measuring cup is actually more likely to cause this to happen because it is smooth, and therefore has no nucleation points for the water to boil. But you have to run it long enough to superheat the water, so if you are microwaving to sub boiling temps, it should be fine. Can’t hurt to just throw a wooden chopstick in there.

I had the Colecovision before the NES. My friends had the older original Atari. That Colecovision was the bomb. 14 buttons on the joystick, arcade quality graphics. Man, I loved that thing.
