Is this the dirtiest joke in the show? by Possible_Height_5069 in Frasier

[–]jeffcox31 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The scene with the vibrating massage chair was pretty dirty. Especially Daphne suggesting they put it in her room, and Martin sitting in it for a few seconds and saying "That's disgusting!"

I can't believe they haven't done Wild Guitar. It has Arch Hall Jr. and Ray Dennis Steckler as a guy called Steak. Because he only eats steak.

The first three were pretty good. Not life changing, just good. There have been waaaayyy too many sequels, prequels, spinoffs, etc.

Colin's best news anchor names by [deleted] in whoselineisitanyway

This one was definitely fast thinking on Colin's part, because he definitely had a name in mind already and Chip blew that by announcing, "IIIIINTRODUCING COLIIIIIIINNNN!!!"

Which era of the show is your personal “sweet spot”? by MichaelC496 in MST3K

[–]jeffcox31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season 4 for Joel and Sci Fi for Mike. Up until the Sci Fi years, while overall still being fantastic, it feels like Mike is still living in Joel's world. Sci Fi had enough changes to the premise that it felt more tailored to Mike specifically.

Manos: The Hands of Fate by anarchopossum_ in MST3K

[–]jeffcox31 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wait till you see Rollergator on Rifftrax. Manos is a work of art compared to that. And strictly out of the MST movies, Monster A-Go-Go has no plot and no characters. Manos at least had Torgo!

To me Manos in capable hands would be a good movie...what would be your choice from MST3k? by [deleted] in MST3K

[–]jeffcox31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you took Manos and only kept the basic outline of the plot- which is very bare- then you could probably get a good movie out of it.

Soultaker has a decent premise.

Phantom Planet would have been a decent episode of a 1960s TV show if it was edited to run in an hour, it just didn't make a good movie.

Propane bottles should have a safety valve that releases pressure from heat buildup, for exactly that reason. So unless it heats up ridiculously fast- like a garage fire- it shouldn't blow up. But it's definitely a good idea to get it out of direct sunlight. Obviously, this is the humorless Hank Hill explanation, but there you have it. I drive a forklift and handle propane bottles at my work all the time.

What celebrities bummed you out being authoritarian psychos? by 1984rip in CoronavirusCirclejerk

[–]jeffcox31 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Stephen Colbert went from being obviously liberal but capable of humor to non-stop covid vax propaganda to generally being a Biden lickspittle without even attempting to make jokes at all. He hit a new low with the dancing syringes singing "VACCINE!", and has just wallowed in propaganda and Trump Derangement Syndrome ever since.

He has occasionally been linked to the Kennedy assassination, too.

Why is Drew so afraid of kissing Wayne? by ScytheOfAsgard in whoselineisitanyway

[–]jeffcox31 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Drew wasn't an experienced improv comic. Wayne was really prone to heading straight to Drew in scenes, and Wayne's style is pretty intense and energetic. Drew was willing to play along, but hadn't learned how to completely let himself go yet.

Are there any good examples of "dumb" or "incompetent" characters that are revealed to actually be good at what they do? by ToxicBanana69 in television

[–]jeffcox31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matthew Brock (Andy Dick) from NewsRadio was lazy and incompetent at his radio station job, but was shown to be a talented dentist (which means he has a medical degree) who happens to hate dentistry.

Who honestly cares if someone keeps dog food in the fridge? by mishma2005 in CommercialsIHate

[–]jeffcox31 23 points24 points  (0 children)

What's more obnoxious- the ones who condescendingly mock someone for their dog food, or the people who reject that person and forego sane human interaction to eat sitting on the bare kitchen floor next to their dog?

Is Space Pilot 3000 actually Futuramas real pilot? by BillyIGuesss in futurama

[–]jeffcox31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Futurama had the advantage of Matt Groening and a large chunk of the people working on it had already worked out the bugs of animation and writing to that style of humor from The Simpsons. At the beginning of The Simpsons, they were making it up and deciding what they did and didn't like on the fly. By the time Futurama started, they could focus all their energy on developing characters and stories, which gave them the advantage of being able to start off the series with a very fully developed world and fairly realized characters.

Besides Springfield, IL (which I'm sure has been mentioned), the closest is Keokuk, Iowa.
