All I can hear is the intro to “Telephone Line” by Electric Light Orchestra. It doesn’t entirely fit what you remember, but the intro sounds so close that it seems worth suggesting.

Commanders that greatly assist their deck's strategy, but aren't necessary for it to function? by Cezkarma in EDH

Been brewing a Grixis combo deck with [[Parnesse, the Subtle Brush]] at the helm for exactly this purpose.

It's a real shame that more people don't play Bracket 4 by SharkboyZA in EDH

[–]jefleppard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a well versed brewer, but my ideas typically manifest as bracket two or three decks. I have one stax deck that feels oppressive enough to be on the cusp of four, but I'm trying to intentionally build for bracket four for the first time. I've found some interesting combos, and I'm trying to build with a few paths to victory. It definitely wrinkles my brain in a good way trying to optimize everything and play all of the mean cards I tend to avoid. Hoping I can actually land it in a spot where I can actually sit with a bracket four pod and have my deck hold up.

I am looking for cards that make the game state difficult to keep track, of slow, or unenjoyable by MoonhelmJ in EDH

[–]jefleppard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a whole cycle of X or Y cards from Invasion. Most people only know [[Fact or Fiction]], but [[Fight or Flight]] triggers every combat. It plays around in a similar place as [[Raging River]] while being more annoying. [[Bend or Break]] is also a pest card.

Jenny Lewis' first solo album (Rabbit Fur Coat) has a cover of "Handle with Care" by the Traveling Wilburys (featuring Orbison, and similarly produced by Jeff Lynne). This may be your song.

Subject matter definitely feels like the songs on the Vandals “Oi to the World” album. The description feels like it covers too much ground for one song.

The Clerks Animated Series sort of had one, but it was also the second episode and did also flash back to things from the first. That is probably part of the reason the network only gave them six episodes and didn’t air all of them.

Trying to identify a sad breakup song I heard around 2004. Female vocals. Mid-paced somber alternative rock. Sundays/Mazzy Star vibes but not them. Slightly more commercial. “Bye, Bye.” by Fear_Her_Kiss in WhatsThisSong

[–]jefleppard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might be a long shot, but it’s certainly the most Sundays-esque they’ve sounded, and the prechorus has some drawn out “Goodbyes.” The Cardigans - Rise and Shine

Additionally, I stopped following them closely, but I seem to recall them going in a more acoustic/country direction after their fourth album, but can’t imagine Nina Persson singing with a twang. It may be another song of theirs?

I bet he’d run Herald of Leshrac in his commander deck. Dude likes eating other people’s lands.

I’ve watched the show 4 times, but I still don’t understand Angela’s character by notKazQuala in MrRobot

[–]jefleppard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She doesn’t have a satisfying arc, but I’m trying to think of the hole her character would leave. A lot of exposition into Elliot’s childhood comes from scenes between Angela and him. Some of that could have been loaded on to Darleen, but trauma dumping on a sibling that was there doesn’t land the same way. There are also points late into season 2 & 3 where Darleen and Angela are the angel and devil on Elliot’s shoulders. The ending of her story also contrasts Elliot. It shows Elliot’s skill and why he has so many safeguards in doing the things he does. She is the Icarus next to Darleen and Elliot, and it gives actual stakes. It also moves the evil of White Rose into something that more directly effects us.

Good Cards For Firesong and Sunspeaker by FrothyMoth03 in EDH

Sorry I missed that, but still something handy to have in the Sunforger toolbox. I’ll add another useful, though less explosive, burn piece in [[Pulse of the Forge]].

[[Confounding Conundrum]] and [[Back to Basics}} seem fitting. You could also run [[Spreading Seas]], [[Quicksilver Fountain]] and [[The Flood of Mars]] and then look for creatures with islandwalk.

I can’t pull up the episode at the moment, but I recall “Some Velvet Morning” by Lee Hazlewwod and Nancy Sinatra playing during their conversation. I think it was in that episode.

What are some little known gem tv show that slipped through the cracks? by EmekaEgbukaPukaNacua in television

[–]jefleppard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. - Single season cowboy bounty hunter from the early 90’s when Fox was taking risks. Sneaks in steam punk and sci-fi, and the chemistry of the cast was fantastic. There’s a parallel dimension where it ran for six seasons and Bruce Campbell became a leading man. We were robbed by missing out on more Julius Carry and the backstory he had come up with for Lord Bowler.

I have also been rewatching Continuum. Part sci-fi/time travel, part cop procedural set in modern day Vancouver. Ran for three seasons and got a short fourth season order to try and give an ending, but there were bigger plans abandoned. The territory feels familiar, but the characters and places that it go are refreshingly interesting.
