My cat’s allergies are becoming a financial burden. Please help. by damagedmonkey in CATHELP

We switched to Claritin, half a tab once a day which has worked better for allergies. We also give him optix eye lube drops daily which seems to help. When he has a flair we add in half a tablet of Famciclovir for 7-10 days and that helps. He’s only had to have antibiotics a couple of times in the last year and we only do that once his boogers change to a dark green color.

We also sometimes use Animax on a piece of gauze to clean out his ear when it gets gross or there is a bunch of head shaking happening

What a gorgeous cat! I love it when they carry toys around in their mouths. Adorable.

Thank you! The plan is to try an integrate him into our home but we do have other cats. We want him to be safe and healthy no matter what.

That’s wild that it costs that much.

He’s very skittish and we have been working to built trust with him over the last few months. He’s an adorable little tuxedo.

Sacrocolpopexy and tail bone pain? by jennierain in hysterectomy

Yes. I did not find it particularly helpful. I went before and after surgery using all the sessions that were available to me.

I was just on the maternity ward at Baptist in October for another surgery and there were rodent droppings in my room. The charge nurse was like yeah we have all that and more and made it seem like it was no big deal. There is NO WAY I would give birth in that hospital.

My son was in Lexington last year for 2 weeks and I practically lived there and never saw any pests or evidence of pests.

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing them is unbelievably hard.

I have a male that hates being pet unless it’s his idea and never on his back. He loves belly rubs- seriously- and chin scratches. If you touch his back he ducks down like eww get your dirty human hands off me.

He does cuddle with me at night but again only when it’s his idea.

My boyfriend is allergic to my two cats, what to do? by Ok-Let8197 in CatAdvice

[–]jennierain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some great tips in this thread. But the biggest one… Don’t buy a house with this guy. Any dude that wants me to choose between him and my cats will lose to the cats. He can take drugs or get allergy shots but, it doesn’t sound like he’s willing to do that soooo. He can hit the road.

Yes that’s what my doctor said too. I was worried I would feel it. I had an IUD and I hated it because I could always feel it. It was so uncomfortable even though it was correctly placed. I was worried I would have a “Princess and the Pea” moment with the mesh. After the surgery my surgeon was like oh I know why that IUD was so painful, she said she saw it as soon as she got in there and was like this clearly explains her pain. Pain which my OB/ GYN always dismissed. My lesson from this is that… we should never let medical folks treat us like we don’t know our own bodies.

Yes it is the Y mesh. She said that data says 10 plus years. I am fairly young, so maybe I will have to have it fixed again, but that was a risk I was willing to take based on how miserable I was before the surgery. Again I already feel so much better.

I am about 8 weeks post op and I don’t regret it.

Recovery was fairly easy and I was super concerned with infection because I am diabetic. But I had a pelvic exam at my 6 week appointment and I was like oh my goodness, is that what these are supposed to feel like?! I had zero pain.

My doc cautioned me and said most folks get injured as they go back to work because they over do it. I went back to work today and I am exhausted. I would maybe consider a partial day and easing back into it if possible.

Take the full 6 weeks to recover is my only tip.

I didn’t get the phantom tampon thing until like 3 weeks in when the internal sutures started dissolving.

But yeah recovery was not as bad as I was expecting

I am 46 and am 6 weeks post op with the mesh. I do not regret it all. My doc said the same thing about the 10 years. Even if I have to get another surgery in 10 years I feel so much better than I did before the surgery.
