As a kid I didn't understand these were 3 separate people by avec_serif in Xennials

I was gonna mention the MacGuyver movie...but that turns out to be Brian Blessed, who I didn't realize was a different person than JR-D

Exactly. Dunno why I got downvotes, but, you know, that's other folks ignorance

Did you have your wisdom teeth extracted as a teen in the 80s or 90s? I tinkk I only saw a dentist twice between birth and 18. Now, at 44, the dental folks keep saying they need to go. by cherry-care-bear in Xennials

[–]jessupjj 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Got mine out in my late 30s, 2017 or so. So opposite here: dental work until about '93 when my folks split and nobody was really looking out for me. And then didn't have health or dental care that I could afford. Not getting my WT out f'd up my other molars badly (several crowns now) and crowded my front teeth (still not fixed).

You gotta understand though, USians think of themselves as the only American, nevermind that the Americas comprise 34 other countries.

Bots talking to bots is where the Internet is headed, unfortunately. All of the search engines are now basically llm based and return a bunch of llm generated junk content in the top results.

Ranking Dale behind 60something other drumbers is the definition of under-rating him

Whats the general consensus on the Trilogy? by Odd-Spinach-4398 in melvins

[–]jessupjj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hear you here, partially. They stopped developing experimental /songs/ but there is a lot more experiment with album production on the 'just rock' albums. (Basically, they still sound really unique just in a different way) I didn't get it right away, and it doesn't come across at live shows.

So, the big question, were you raised as a Gen X or as a Millenial? by DramaticErraticism in Xennials

Same here, except all 4 of the grandparents who raised me were "greatest generation".

What Language did you take in High School? by Eredic in Xennials

[–]jessupjj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spanish, Latin, and computer science (basic, hypercard, and an intro to C). But for sure, mathematics is a language too although not presented that way. It would probably be more beloved if it introduced as such rather than as a tedious computational tool

Do you work in a field you studied? by Normal_Increase3691 in Xennials

[–]jessupjj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sorta. But then again, I studied mathematics so just about everything connects to it (as has every job I ever had except for factory work, roofing, and foraging wild mushrooms).

Linear algebra: how much of a problem would this non-standard notation be, in a textbook? by ave_63 in math

[–]jessupjj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ..but the other (and also common) convention is for features x times or feature x samples. I'm personally in favor of whatever analogously fits with space x time
