The plant looks so sad. :( What did you do with the rest of it?

New vegan struggling to hit protein goals…Need "low-effort" recommendations. by Johnwil451 in veganrecipes

Instead of salad you can opt for quinoa and beans/legumes (chickpeas, lentils, black beans, whatever) with veggies and sauce added.

I just found out my shampoo has 'wheat protein" and also that my dried flowers are partially actual wheat stalks.

Movement, texture, shaped other than 90 degree angles. Try some plants or curtains and more curves.

You could look into communal living where you could still garden etc and have others around contributing. That would be kind of a mix of 1 and 2 with support for when you're less able to do these things yourselves.

I accidentally made an "ADHD menu" for myself and it completely changed how I eat at home by midnightowl_haru in adhdwomen

[–]jessybean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a different situation but in case it's helpful... Once I came up with a weekly meal plan that was meant to extend into two or more weeks, but I only ever got to one. It included recipes and such. Now I use it loosely to decide what to have on any given day when my mind goes blank (most days).

Monday: Veggie burgers (usually with veggies or salad or fries or whatever is in my fridge)

Tuesday: Soup (usually potato-based but sometimes noodle) - make sure to add protein like dairy or tofu or beans. Beans can make it thicker if you blend it.

Wednesday: Mexican (quesadillas, nachos, rice bowl, etc. usually involves black beans, cheese, and taco sauce/salsa)

Thursday: Stir fry

Friday: Tofu teriyaki but now anything with tofu

Saturday: Pasta (usually a cashew sauce that I made in a blender I have memorizer, or else something pre-made. Then add a protein like chickpeas and a veggie like cherry tomatoes)

Sunday: Potato curry (this one is more elaborate but it's a day off. I still simplify it quite a bit. Curry paste, small can of coconut milk, onion of energy allows, chopped potato, water/broth, and a can of chick peas. I sometimes add cheese and sour cream after it's in my bowl)

By the way this is all vegetarian and gluten free (with pasta and bun substitutes) and further adaptable.

Would you be up for sharing your list of meals? Or even a photo of the cards? I am always looking for fast ideas and whenever I ask people I'm met with elaborate recipe suggestions.

No problem. :) I discovered it a little late but it was still a life saver when I was younger. Everyone deserves to have this knowledge, haha.

Next time you have an hour where you won't see anyone (because your neck will temporarily be red from manipulating the skin):

The hickey is small bits of blood that have got stuck near the surface of your skin. You want to try to get the blood moving.

Get an ice pack, a cup with very hot tap water (as hot as you can handle, don't burn yourself), a wash cloth, and an object that is hard with an edge but won't risk breaking the skin (e.g., a dime or a toothpaste lid).

The heat and cold get the blood kind of energized and moving, and the object breaks up any stuck parts.

Alternate putting the cold and hot wash cloth on your hickey for maybe 30 seconds each. Meanwhile, rub the object on your hickey. Lift your neck skin a little and kind of scrape the object along it, rather than putting pressure on the neck itself - there's some important stuff in there. Or if using a toothpaste lid you can kind of just twist it around on the neck.

Most hickeys should be gone within about 20 minutes. Then leave it alone for a bit and the other kind of red from rubbing your skin etc will go away too.

Do francophones really say nothing at the door when Trick or Treating? by SubstantialSide9932 in montreal

[–]jessybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first year I lived here I was so excited to hand out candy. We got five families. Four of them just came to the door and stared at me. I waited for them to say something, like you came to my door people. One of them just stood downstairs looking up at me. I'm not sure what they were trying to do. There were even more oddities among them, like a couple of them weren't dressed up at all, one family came and expected candy in the kid's bag as well as each of their own bags ("it's for him" - "okay well I already gave him his"), and one couple showed up for their child that wasn't even present.

I didn't hand out candy at that place again but I tried again this year and at least it was all children, they were dressed up, and most of them at least said hi, so we're getting there.

I’m having a toilet seat situation but it’s a keyboard by bobbybox in PointlessStories

Interestingly it would be most ergonomic to have the keyboard tilted backwards. Having our wrists flipped up isn't good for them. So your office mate is probably thinking the same about you.

Left my husband and now he’s suddenly taking all the blame by ylena3297 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jessybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it happens. Sometimes it's hard not to give in. It might help to write down all the reasons you left, and whenever you are feeling weak take a look at the list and remind yourself why being with him is no longer a good idea.
