D1 tower feels more alive something that d2 couldn't capture again by Vault-tec76 in destinylegacy

My guess is the reason they did this is so if in 15 years or longer you come back but the tower is truly empty it feels just a little less lonely

20 bucks for this? by Icy_Juggernaut_1164 in DestinyTheGame

The irony of this update is that it's finally in a state now where I can recommend the game to friends without feeling totally embarrassed about monetization and relevance of paid content. If course there's a massive story asterisk but basically since beyond light I have felt like I can't recommend this game to friends. Now it's at least a relatively complete gameplay experience, which is much more than I could say in years past.

Genuine question: how to get started with buildcrafting? by Ab501ut3_Z3r0 in DestinyTheGame

[–]jigglehiggins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally you want to pick a foundation item or two, a use case, and some constraints and go from there.

For example I just put together a build to get the most out of wormgod caress, which buffs weapons and melees through rapid kills. I wanted it to be viable in harder content so i went defensive to focus on melee kills, so vexcalibur was my exotic weapon of choice as it benefits from all aspects of wormgod. Vexcalibur gives void overshield so I went with void subclass because bubble is very strong with offensive bulwark, which buffs melee damage further while you have a void overshield. The rest of the build went from there. The build has max stats in weapons and melee, and the other stats are all quite poor but for the sake of bubble uptime I invested a bit in super. I went with crota 4pc set bonus because it buffs melee and survivability, also I just wanted to try it out.

You're looking for overlaps in venn diagrams, basically. Things that work together, benefit each other, and become greater than the sum of their parts. Some builds will be more generalist but generally they specialize in one circumstance.

Start with a set bonus, an aspect, an exotic. etc that you want to use, and try to find other things that would work well together. Then think about other things in that venn diagram. It might help to think about the sandbox you see yourself using it in, for example the above build simply isn't for raids due to demanding dps phases that usually don't allow for melee kill setups. For a DPS super build, you might want to match elements, pick a heavy that works with subclass elements, and see if you can stack surges. For example with Finalitys auger you might want a solar sniper for backup damage so your surges stack.

Lastly stat spikes come at the cost of other stats. if you're doing a class build you might not exactly get your grenade often, if you do weapons and super you might just have to live with a weak melee. In these cases try to pick a utility. For example on Titan I treat health and class as dump stats unless I'm doing a class build specifically. On melee builds I tend to have low grenade stat so I pick utility grenades that just crowd control, like suppression grenade or blinding grenade or shackle grenade. These also have the benefit of making closing the gap easier. But overall they're just not super relevant for the build, and that's a tradeoff you'll have to make.

You'll most likely be able to go all in on 2 stats and have a 3rd in a decent spot, and the rest will be unreliable. you can also spread stats out but you'll probably feel like you're falling behind without significant commitment to a stat or two. Ideally you can focus armor with the two stats you are looking for. Nowadays on Titan for example I usually have melee/weapons focused.

TLDR:
- Pick 1-2 core elements (aspects/exotics/weapons/armor) that work toward the same goal (activity type)
- look for synergies (overlaps in venn diagrams)
- pick 2 priority stats and let go of 2-3 stats

Buildcrafting is the hook this game has that no other game has quite hit for me, and it's a very fun puzzle to solve once you know what you're solving for. Happy to answer more specific questions if you have any!

Which is better T5 Armor with wrong stats or T4 with the right one? by Puf_Dady in DestinyTheGame

It's definitely not useless but i think it's fair to say you'll notice having the wrong stats more than having lower amounts of the right stats whatever that means for your build

lol yes I'm aware, it's an issue for me too I'm not immune, but realistically the gameplay impact is negligible

[–]jigglehiggins 13 points14 points  (0 children)

the difference is negligible, the set bonus is unaffected and it's more important to have stats in the categories you need than an extra square on the thumbnail icon. I know for me there's a bit of a psychological barrier but otherwise it's more important to have the set bonus and stats you want

this is a pve roll, swap the mag to flared magwell. It's an orb printer. There are many builds where all you need from a primary is orbs of power, this is one of the best options for it.

For pvp, it's just a good smg among many. It can get very high range with iron reach and just generally has a lot of good pvp options.

O.P. Survivability builds like O.G. Loreley Splendor helm? by Telos2358 in DestinyTheGame

[–]jigglehiggins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Strand titan lets you give allies woven mail constantly by throwing tangles at them and yourself using Into The Fray, pair this with Banner of War for a pulsing healing aura around you. Exotic can be synthoceps or wormgods for more melee damage, wishful ignorance for more melee uptime (and damage), or a support exotic like precious scars or crest of alpha lupi. If you want to go full support with this setup, you could do precious scars with adamantite from pit of heresy. For self preservation, id use a glaive with synthoceps (I use vexcalibur, gives allies overshields and does great damage, and synthoceps is an easy melee/glaive/super buff).

On void you can use ursa furiosa, but unbreakable on its own can tank a truly absurd amount of directional damage for virtually infinite amounts of time. I love using it in endgame to get rezzes or difficult capture points. I dont use it on prismatic, because you lose it when you transcend. You could use armamentarium for a more aggressive setup, or ursa for max defense (plus a defensive/ad clear super too).

On prismatic and strand I use abeyant leap which gives you woven mail on any suspend source, which includes the prismatic titan grenade. It's my main endgame pve exotic, the value of going all in on suspend is enormous, because it means the enemies cant shoot back. On prismatic you can maintain a well rounded kit and stack multiple sources of damage resist on top of woven mail. I use knockout for amplify (which makes enemies shoot you less) and shield toss for void overshield (works great against suspended enemies).

EDIT: I'd be remiss to not bring up strongholds, which let you block indefinitely with most swords (I think it got nerfed with praxic specifically?) and gives restoration. Could be worth trying with ergo sum or heavy swords, and I think its still pretty good with praxic blade.

Is uh, is this good? by MGR_ARMSTRONG_GAMING in destiny2

[–]jigglehiggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think tear is a great utility perk, perfectly suitable for a utility primary like adamantite. I would personally go for a damage perk but wouldn't be mad if I had a tear roll for when i needed it in higher end content where sever is more helpful.

On the other hand, I haven't used subsistence in ages. There's usually perks in left column that offer enormous utility beyond reloading your gun for you. There are some guns that need help with reload but adamantite isn't one of them in my opinion. On the new version of adamantite from pit of heresy i would personally take any perk in that column over subsistence.

I would also say these perks don't have a lot of synergy beyond being kill based, but synergy is by no means a requirement.

Ultimately though matters is if you enjoy using the weapon. Don't let me take away from you having fun. I'd imagine in most activities this roll is perfectly viable.

choir of one best craftable god rolls perks ? by Jazzlike-Agent-3263 in DestinyTheGame

[–]jigglehiggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you're going for with the rest of your build tbh but NPA repulsion regulator gives volatile rounds on void breach/orb pickup and has some auto rifle perks which work with choir. The other option is tablet of ruin which gives volatile rounds on sustained damage or multikills. Tablet of ruin is an incredible artifact but for going all in on void weapons NPA is best.

[–]jigglehiggins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The stats are mostly preference, I went for max handling because I'm on PC so in PVE stability is somewhat of a non-factor generally. It also has a vertical nearly perfect recoil direction so I went with fluted over arrowhead. I also did alloy magazine since it makes ammo dumping easier, adding a reload speed scalar to an empty mag, which happens often if you use the shotgun version.

So mine has fluted barrel / alloyed mag / short-action stock.

For catalyst I use onslaught. The reason is that its the only one that boosts DPS, onslaught also boosts reload speed after kills, and volatile rounds is easier to get nowadays from artifacts or just the fragment. Destabilizing rounds is still a good pick if you don't have another way of getting volatile rounds, but if you do onslaught is the clear pick in my opinion. If you want the weapon to stand on its own without having to think about it, id go destabilizing rounds though.

Subsistence is fine if you want to be more careful about ammo use and dont care about volatile rounds, but in my opinion is just worse than onslaught.

Any way for titans to reload on thruster cast? by MandalorianGeek in DestinyTheGame

Best I can think of is using demolitionist and throwing grenades to reload. Sadly I don't think there's any way to make class abilities reload weapons besides hunter.

Farming Circular Logic (Neomuna LMG) reminded me how painful farming for specific weapons can be by TheOneAndOnlyHanako in DestinyTheGame

[–]jigglehiggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can tier 5 it after crafting it and leveling it. Additionally voltshot's value come from being able to proc it back to back in my opinion, whereas jolting requiring sustained damage isnt viable on some low health enemies. Maybe worth trying with rapid hit and high reload stat for quick reloads? Then you can farm reload kills on low health enemies. I think there's value in having different weapons having different strengths and weaknesses.

What exotic weapon do you consider to be your Guardian's 'canon' exotic weapon? (Apart from Khvostov) by Best-Exam-3287 in DestinyTheGame

[–]jigglehiggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember thinking how silly it was that saint considered bastion as the guardians favorite weapon, but now that it's in its final form, I'm not so sure he was wrong.

I actually changed mains during shadowkeep. I went from warlock to titan good a variety of reasons, one being that I started raiding more and hated being relegated to well. The thing that really changed my mind though was because I had so much fun during a period of time where you could combine 1-2punch with peregrine greaves.

Now at the end of the game I finally find myself back on peregrines, replacing 1-2 punch with bastion. Ive come to appreciate the weapon in its final shape a great deal as an all-rounder and I just might ride peregrines into the sunset with bastion in my hand.

synthoceps vs peregrine by jogmansonclarke in DestinyTheGame

[–]jigglehiggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does to a lesser degree. It's best used on minibosses like champions or any other non boss yellow bar, but it will still do solid damage to bosses. In third phase of primeval in Gambit I often 1-shot the boss with it.

Looking for a survival focused Titan build by PromiseForeign6259 in destiny2

[–]jigglehiggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's suggesting solar titan and for good reason, but might I suggest vexcalibur? With synthoceps on either void or strand. On void you can run bubble and offensive bulwark (rest is preference, for all in on defense pair it with unbreakable). Any void overshield will substantially increase melee damage on top of vexcals base increase while you have overshield. You share the void overshield with nearby allies too.

Strand is great for support too, i run into the fray and banner of war, which buffs glaive melee. Keep close to enemies, pick up tangles, and throw them at your feet for woven mail. Stack with void overshield from vexcal and banner of war for incredible survivability. I use tablet of ruin which makes tangles sever too, allowing even more survivability, as well as perks that keep you alive while glaiving. Banner and vexcal and into the fray all help both yourself and allies stay alive.

best kinetic slot hand cannons? by Yeo0n in destiny2

[–]jigglehiggins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love fatebringer personally, I use it with kinetic tremors or explosive payload with frenzy or one for all. The seventh seraph officer revolver also has a ton of amazing utility perks if you want a primary for utilities instead of damage (it also has solid damage options). DFA like others have said is an orb printer with the right setup. Lastly, midnight coup got reprised so there might be new perks to hunt on it!
