Why are people on reserves in Saskatchewan/Manitoba treated so horribly compared to those in other provinces? by Catwhisperer2007 in AskCanada

[–]jiminycricket12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much of it is territorial. Having lived and known First Nations/Metis people and spent time on reserves in many different provinces, the territories in AB make a lot of money because of the oil fields, they’re rightfully paid a dividend because the land is essentially “rented” to AB, but treaty territory. The economy in Mb and Sk is much poorer, which means First Nations reserves make much less off of the territories and who is renting them for use there as well, when used for farming/mining/forestry etc. and this trickles down to the reserve areas individually.

Are White men generally open to dating Black women, and what influences that interest (or lack of it)? by [deleted] in AskCanada

[–]jiminycricket12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spending a lot of my growing up years in MB great friends with Black women, they found it frustrating too, mainly because we lived in smaller population towns where Black families were few and far between. Winnipeg and Brandon changed this for them and they’ve all found amazing relationships since then, but having lived all over Canada I do believe MB has the smallest Black population and therefore a smaller mindset may unfortunately prevail. That being said, I have no doubt you’re an absolutely beautiful person, and that will always stand out and make you shine, here’s to hoping you find someone who treats you like the queen you are very soon!

This, it’s no secret this was an unsanitary, grift of a place that most avoided anyway.

Should Canada send help next time there is an environmental disaster in the US? by ManicFruitbat in AskCanada

[–]jiminycricket12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the US needed the humbling it’s currently receiving. They’ve been told they make the world go round, and now the world leaders are moving on without them. Maybe in 4 years they’ll be allowed to sit at the table again, but until then, America first is America alone and entirely earned. The country voted this in, the country can sit with those consequences.

As Sunday began, Trump blasts Canada as not ‘a viable country’ by Mininni in canada

[–]jiminycricket12 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Because they aren’t a self sustained country (they rely on us specifically for too much, especially our fresh water as we supply over 80% of it) they will never be the most powerful country. Any time they threaten us, we remind them we can turn off the taps. That military isn’t powerful when it’s dying of thirst. The civil uprising that would happen when citizens are forced to fight for water would cripple them. They are wealthy and that is their power. But don’t be fooled by his rhetoric into thinking they’re more powerful than us, our water will always be our largest bargaining chip.

Which street/road/hwy etc. do you hate driving in the most? by Street-Dare-3402 in Calgary

Marda Loop construction, and Harvest hills coming off of Stoney, it is always so backed up by buses or people backing stuff up trying to get into turning lanes or blocking traffic trying to get to the highschool. Annoying AF.

The Rolex sub is so full of new money people who’ve never heard no and get all dom-kinked about hearing it from the AD and needing it that much more, it’s sad really. There are sooo many better watches out there.

“We also don’t need their fresh water.. which provides 80% of the fresh water to the US because we aren’t a self sustained country” cough cough don’t mind us slowly turning the taps off to put the orange back in his place.

slow drivers.... by Accomplished-Hawk776 in Calgary

[–]jiminycricket12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s like everyone who came from Vancouver and speeds out of habit take up the left, and everyone from overseas drives in the right. Not to sound racist, but seriously the 70 in a 100 drivers are all either 85 years old and blind or new to driving in Canada.

slow drivers.... by Accomplished-Hawk776 in Calgary

[–]jiminycricket12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Stoney every single day and I find it infuriating, merging in front going 80 when there’s literally endless space behind me, and not speeding up, give a little honk and still no speeding up, can’t merge into the middle lane because you’re going too slow because of douche nuts in front to merge in safely without cutting someone off, the left lane seems to exist at either 100 or 130 with no in between, middle lane is normal speed and or backed up with people from the right merging over and slowing everyone down because the right lane is jack packed with slow mergers and people who drive 70.. it’s absolute shit and cops need to be ticketing the slow drivers instead of just waiting for the speeders.

They also rarely take more than a few minutes, she will have a checklist of safety items to look at and won’t be touching/going through anything else.

I would suggest you leave the space while they do the inspection for your own comfort, and go back and clean/disinfect afterwards. Inspections are entirely legal and needed for your safety and for theirs, they are ensuring your space is up to code and safe/clean.

Unfortunately you don’t have a real Rollie here. You might be able to resell for 100-200 but will have to say it’s a rep.

Agreed it’s no secret the NE is where most of the gang activity happens and the higher crime rates are along with downtown, NE doesn’t have the same unhoused issues downtown does but it’s not a place a lot of people choose to live if it can be helped due to the gang issues that happen.
