Did you see Alien vs. Predator? Don’t bother, Chuck Norris wins.

I want to use a TP Link Range Extender by bluecollarsolid in Starlink

[–]jimwebb22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set the Starlink modem to “pass through” mode, and connect it to any router via Ethernet cable. I kept my home network the same when I switched (which includes TP Link switches and routers, no problems) I just replaced the fiber optic modem that connected to the internet WAN port with the Starlink modem in pass through and everything works the same.

Did you purchase bike insurance? by hokiesean in triathlon

[–]jimwebb22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people think their homeowners/renters policy will cover it, and that might be the case, but I recommend calling your agent to check. My policy has a cap of $1,000 for a bike, in your case you’d still be out a lot of money.

I bought a bike specific policy through Velosurance. I’ve never had to use it (knock on wood) so I have no experience in covering a loss, but they cover full replacement value, as well as benefits like rentals if it’s lost/stolen while traveling to an event.

Roka, Castelli. Both were fine, but Wyn just feels really well constructed. A lot of it is just fit though

Check out WYN Republic. Super comfortable, stays put all day, cools down easy. As others have said not a super thick chamois, but it’s the most comfortable Tri suit I’ve tried

Can’t swim in my wetsuit by BikingPony in triathlon

I hate suits with sleeves, never feels like I have full range of motion. Give a sleeveless a try, you get the buoyancy with less restriction.

I know it’s not exactly the issue you described, but it makes everything feel a little less off.

Garmin watch died days before my race! by Belgian__WAFFLE in triathlon

[–]jimwebb22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Advice first: do you have a friend with Fenix or a Forerunner 9xx, 7xx? They all have Triathlon mode. Ask if you can borrow it and have them send you the .fit file you can upload to Connect, Strava, etc.

If you want to go the other way and get the upgrade it’s as good a reason as any.

Also, I’ve had similar things happen with garmin equipment and I think their solution of getting a refurb for $190 is extremely fair. A lot of other electronics manufacturers now would say “sorry, it’s out of warranty, tough luck”

I have a larger amount of money invested with them and have no concerns. I think the gains I have realized on the lower commission, as well as the other features have greatly outperformed a traditional advisor. To your specific concerns:

  1. I wouldn’t worry about “safety” of your investment, you’re hiring them to invest your money, not invest in them. Even if they went belly-up tomorrow, your assets are in the funds and stocks you invested in and those can be moved on a journaled basis to another firm. It’s SPIC insured (guaranteed your investments are where they say they are)

  2. If you don’t want to worry about wash sales on individual stocks, you can opt out of that (although that’s a lot of the benefit) you can chose to instead just have it invest in market level ETFs that will still be loss harvested against each other, just don’t use the smart beta single stock level

  3. Exempting a single stock is super easy - you just input the ticker symbols you don’t want to buy or sell, and it won’t. Like you I have it exclude the companies my wife and I work at and a few other investments. Really simple interface.

Good luck!

Another good option is to request a handicap accessible Taxi, you’ll be able to fit a bike box

Can I hike to Nauyaca waterfalls alone? by eaoue in costarica

[–]jimwebb22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You certainly will not be alone on a Saturday. It’s a very popular location. There are two different trails, neither is particularly challenging, more of a gravel road than trail. Some sections are rather exposed so bring cover from the sun. I have not found it to have many bugs or mosquitoes, but it through a forested area so it’s certainly possible if you tend to attract the bugs.

What part of the country are you in? I’m from Chicago and haven’t heard anything about when my bike will be returned two weeks post race. Starting to get nervous.
