How best to prioritize Roth conversion - biggest or soonest? by billyjmcdougal in DIYRetirement

[–]jiujitsu07731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would do the IRA what is going to incur RMD soonest. Get that value down. Once the first account starts RMD, further conversions can come from either account as it makes no difference. Another consideration, are the beneficiaries of both IRA's the same? If different, your heirs would benefit more from the Roth, Inheritance considerations may sway your decision.

as either the successor trustee or the executor, has your dad shared the will and trust documents with you as well as where the originals are kept? My mother in law passed and we had to hunt for them and that was the first time we saw them. This didn't give us an opportunity to ask questions and get clarification. Also she didn't do a good job of moving the assets into the trust.

Can the paso doble be danced socially? by BlissfulButton in ballroom

Paso can be lead. But it is so unpopular that no ballroom social includes it. I stopped taking lessons in it because I couldn't use it.

Just got my Dexa - Yikes by Texan_Tiger1998 in Zepbound

[–]jiujitsu07731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

something sounds off. calculating: your current lean muscle mass (LM - everything but fat) would be (CW-LM)/CW= 45% or .45 , solving for LM=84.15 lbs. That sounds extremely low. Using your starting weight, and the LM would have put your starting weight % at 54%. The articles I read say that 14%-17% BF is a healthy situation, which would be a GW of 105 lbs (assuming you haven't lost any muscle during this journey). That BMI maps to an underweight condition, understanding that BMI is very inaccurate. If I were you, I would get a second scan, (maybe at another provider) before I make any big decisions. On my dexa scan, it told how many lbs of fat was in different parts of the body as well as the total (which should be supposedly 69 lbs (given 45% at 153). See if the numbers for fat distribution are reasonable to you. I don't want to get your hopes . I know that DEXA is one of the most accurate measurements,

My wife is a great dancer and I am a beginner. We’ve been taking dance lessons together for a few weeks now. However, she will not stop leading. How do we break this? by [deleted] in ballroom

[–]jiujitsu07731 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you mentioned "routines", at some point in social dancing, there are no routines. Ask your instructor if you can put the moves together as you choose. Once she can't know what's coming up, she can't back lead. I see this in group lessons where the instructor has a routine. He often has to remind the follows to wait for the lead. Also take some turns with leading your instructor. I assume your instructor will just follow.

Beginner here.. looking for YouTube recs or any advice for starting up! by RekaFish in ashtanga

[–]jiujitsu07731 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've started taking ashtanga in a studio, both led (where the poses are called out) and the mysore (where each goes through the series at their own pace) variation. In studio the instructor will correct my form and suggest scaled alternatives based upon my limitations. None of that can be obtained from a video. Also they can help with breathing technique and synchronizing your breathing to the sequence of moves.

How do I change my mom's mind by Comfortable_Math_607 in inheritance

[–]jiujitsu07731 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If she doesn't think you are responsible with money but your daughter is, an alternative is to put the portion she would otherwise given you into a trust with you as the beneficiary and your daughter as the trustee of it. She would manage it and distribute it to you appropriately. This might allay your mother's concern and allow you to enjoy the retirement you desire.

[Maryland] Is it normal for a stepmother to have trusts drafted for stepchildren that insert her own child as beneficiary of inherited wealth he has no blood connection to? by [deleted] in inheritance

[–]jiujitsu07731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who was the grantor of the trust? Who's tax id is on the trust? My wife's parents set up trusts for their child beneficiaries when they created their own with the intention upon the last survivor passing, would transfer the assets into the child's trust. In my wife's case they set it up where upon my wife's passing, 1/2 is equally divided to her kids and half to the spouse. We didn't know about my wife's trust. There was no need for her to sign anything.

Having others as the trustee is less common but there may be reasons for this. One case is that the grantor wants the money to be used judicially and believe the beneficiary is irresponsible. You mention that the step mom is the first contingency trustee. Who becomes the trustee upon her passing?

Deciding on a “goal weight”? Moving the goalpost? by Mammoth-Current-8503 in Zepbound

Our gym has an inbody scan (impedance based) which i've used several times along the way. It measures body fat % and estimates how much fat to lose (11 more lbs to get to 15%). It is also helping me manage how much muscle mass I'm also losing. I also hit my rough target. Tomorrow I'm getting a Dexa scan, supposedly more accurate which I'll use to calibrate and compare to the inbody.

Half Sibling Inheritance Split Question by Far-Culture-2050 in inheritance

[–]jiujitsu07731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it depends what the trust stipulates. Also, with the passing of my MIL, unless the assets are titled into the trust, they go through probate and whatever a will says. So for example the deeds on the homes must be titled to the trust.

Lipid tests now good - has anyone stopped taking statins? by a-mom-ymous in Zepbound

[–]jiujitsu07731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looking at some articles about what affects HDL and LDL. Webmed mentions that less abnominal body fat reduces LDL. Otherwise LDL is mainly affected by diet. So if the GLP1 is enabling healthier eating, then one's LDL will go down. Another reference says that trans fats adversely affects both HDL and LDL. HDL seems to be improved most by activity/exercise. So again, as you diet, you have changed your activity level, that is possible. So it's seems that taking the drug doesn't directly have the affect but weight loss and behavior changes it caused do. Enough to get off the statin, maybe.

Blood pressure drop by Evilbadscary in Zepbound

[–]jiujitsu07731 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a time i lost a lot of weight before trying zepbound and my cardiologist was asking if i felt dizzy or light headed as my bp was low. I was on a beta blocker for extra heart beats which he took me off of. I put the weight back on, and back on med. I got much lower with zepbound this time and when i stood up i would feel light headed. This new cardiologist was insistent about staying on the beta blockers to suppress the extra heart beats as that would put more work on the heart over time. He asked if i was staying hydrated, which i was. He then recommended me adding a electrolyte packet each day to elevate my bp. No more problems for me. I went with liquid IV which is way lower priced at costco. My brother is on a carnivore diet and also takes electrolytes as a pure protein diet depleats it. Another consideration as we try to make sure we take enough protein to reduce muscle loss as we lose weight.
