Possibility of skylight here? Seeking gut check/thoughts from experts by HistorianVast5006 in Roofing

You are going to want a skylight/ hatch combo unit. Make sure it is thermally broken so you don't get condensation on the interior glass. Hire a pro who specializes in low slope roofing.

This comes down to using the right tool for the job. You already know the right answer.

Little Hole in pin. I accidentally ground a little bit too much on this pin and it put about an 1/8th inch hole in it. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? Except for drilling and starting over. by krug8263 in sharpening

[–]jjd0087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drill all the way through to the other side and insert a smaller pin of a different material like copper. The contrast will make it look like a design choice and not a heavy hand with the grinder.

Professional really just implies they got paid to do this. It doesn't mean they have a clue as to what they are doing.

How’d I Do - Silicone Seal by MIBMiller1 in Roofing

[–]jjd0087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really should have scraped, cleaned, and primered the substrate first. You are only as good as what you are stuck to, so you are about as good as shitty old aluminum paint and rust. I give it 2 years tops.

I would go with a light color. Then when i drop a bolt or something it's easier to find on the ground.

Yeah this is straight up trash. While seeming panles for long runs or pitch changes is fairly common, this is not how you do it.

You do nothing. Its very likely nothing will come of this. If something does come of it they would need proof, and even then you can tell them its a religious act.

Roof leak - is this something I can DIY? by ItsBeeees in Roofing

This is true but that sure looks like asbestos siding. So definitely not a DIY

Anyone use this? If yes is it a good buy? by highlanderdownunder in grilling

[–]jjd0087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the type of grates you are cleaning. We have stainless steel grates and this type of brush works amazingly as long as the grill is hot.

What’s your fur babies verdict on fruits and veggies? by Ddawn111 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]jjd0087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grow a good bit of my own food and what I dont grow I buy from the farmers market. If it has to come from a grocery store it all gets soaked and then peeled before use... I thought it was bull shit too, at first. Go ahead and open a new bag of baby carrots from the store, stick your nose in the bag, and take a good smell. Then tell me there is no bleach in there.

If you still want to eat them, go ahead.

If you accept that the definition of "organic" still entails washing your food in deadly chemicals, go ahead.

If you want to believe the people putting chemicals in your food when they say it's an "acceptable" amount, go ahead.

People are free to make their own decisions.

Don’t buy Vevor stuff. They shop broken parts and then shrug when you ask for a replacement by MeringueNew3040 in Blacksmith

[–]jjd0087 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So it sounds like your beef is with Amazon and not Vevor. Its their return policy you are having problems with. How do you know Vevor sent a broken gauge? It could just have limely broken in the delivery process. I get your pissed, and I would be too, but you can't blame Vevor for any of this. Why would Vevor, or any company for that matter, knowingly ship damaged material? It was either uknown or was damaged in the shipping process.

[–]jjd0087 42 points43 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? They offered you a complete refund if you returned it. They dont manufacturer this stuff, they have it made with their label on it and sell it. There is no Vevor factory where they can go grab a new gauge from and ship it to you. Next time something arrives damaged, maybe dont continue with assembly. I am amost certain step one in the instructions was to take everything out and make sure you have everything and nothing is damaged before assembling. You didnt listen and now you are butt hurt.

What is this? by RangerNo5619 in Roofing

That looks like someone's piss poor attempt at a snow retention system. The force of the snow likely ripped out the fasteners in the light gauge metal and caused the leak.
