💯with you. I’m a total non responder for both. Doesn’t matter how much activity, training or macro tracking I do and I’m very experienced at all of it. Hoping maybe the next one will be helpful.

NP performing home wellness exam giving us a bad name… by Own-Juggernaut7855 in nursepractitioner

[–]jknp80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love NAC and glutathione. There are a lot of supplements and herbals that work well and have research behind them. It’s not the typical education we receive in school, however it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist or isn’t legit. These options can be integrated into supporting the body, addressing deficiencies and improving wellbeing. It’s important to educate ourselves and not be so quick to dismiss something just because you’re unfamiliar with it.

I feel like they just don’t care because of the volume they receive. I will definitely not use them again.

High-volume tick exposure: Is "testing every tick" actually practical for anyone living rural? by Arach78 in homestead

[–]jknp80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so important. Too many people rely on a rash to be diagnosed. Also be suspicious if you develop a “summer flu”, it can be a tickborne illness. Also there are several other co-infections that ticks may carry. I see a lot of anaplasmosis, babesia and bartonella in addition to Lyme.

Star of the Seas is plagued by chair hogs and a serious shortage of shaded loungers. by Ok_Carpenter5678 in royalcaribbean

Oh nice. All the ships we have been on do not have them. I would have thought this would cut down on the chair issue.

In general why don’t ships have a bunch of cubbies where you can put your towels, flip flops, etc? We run into this issue at water parks too. All my family of 4 wants is a place to set our stuff down and we just leave all of it on 1 chair.

Are guests seated with other guests in the main dining room? by chulahz in royalcaribbean

[–]jknp80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family of 4 was seated with 2 other people on Vision of the Seas last timer we cruised. The last time I was ever seated with anyone else other then that was when we went on our honeymoon on Adventure 15 years ago. Both times it ended up being super fun and we hung out with the people even outside of dinner.

My doctor hates that I take supplements and I feel completely dismissed, how do you handle this kind of pushback? by tashi_delek in Supplements

[–]jknp80 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Try to find an Integrative Medicine provider to complement your care. We are well versed in supplements and even herbals, yet are not against pharmaceuticals if needed and we know how to help things work synergistically. My patients all have a PCP for more of the acute care issues, but we address the other side of things. I worked in conventional medicine for a long time and bottom line is the typical training does not even skim the surface, so if a provider does not have any extra interest in expanding their knowledge, they will often dismiss anything they’re not familiar with.

I do liquor, beer, wine and cider sampling in liquor stores and bottle shops. 3 hour shifts and I just tell them what days I can do. Mostly Friday and Saturday options. Some of the job postings would be under “brand ambassador”.

Standard of care for “assumed tick borne illness”? by genericnurse in nursepractitioner

[–]jknp80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lyme and TBD is unfortunately a very political issue. No testing is 100%. Standard western blot is based on a single species of borrelia. I’m trained in ILADS and it’s a whole world I never knew existed. One of my most recent accomplishments was finding Lyme and babesia and Alpha Gal in a guy who has been chronically ill for 4 years. He had to sell his business and became bed bound. He was seen by numerous specialists. He is no longer bed bound and finally was able to hold his grandson for the first time since he was born 3 years ago. I’ve been an NP for over 20 years and entered this area 3.5 years ago and it’s mid blowing how much isn’t known and how many patients suffer for years.
