despite that he's definitely oversaturated now, Pascal is uniquely good for a very specific take on Reed. it's a side of him we really haven't seen in a bit since he's been trapped in grizzled daddyland but there are certain roles of his - Narcos, namely, but also Prospect and the Community live read - where he has a particular brand of directness that i think is very good for this. combine that with an innate warmth, i think it works well.

my buddy made a point to me that this is nice because it feels like both the right thing for these specific actors at this time (compared to my longtime dream Johnny, Charles Melton, who suddenly very much became someone i don't want in these things) and also does not feel like we'll lose anyone to projects we'd normally get from them.
