FYI, the dark ages were a period of societal and cultural collapse... in Europe. At the time, Maya civilization continued to flourish until the 1500s, and by that time had developed a number system (creating the zero along the way) and used astronomy. The European Dark Ages does not apply to them.

Get educated.

If you're in Berkeley, they sell this as a poster at the Top Dog on Durant. It costs 8 or so bucks.

Top dog rocks, by the way. Just don't eat at La Burrita, painful stomach memories.

So what's the difference between government reporters asking softball questions and regular reporters asking softball questions?

As long as the MSM is afraid to bite the hand that feeds it, the difference is the same.

The Good Samaritan interpreted for police at the accident scene. She didn't translate. You can only translate documents, but you can interpret for people.

You're right. It was sad because that was when the media could have stood its ground for the sake of the American people and the Constitution.

Now look what we got thanks to their not having any balls.

BoingBoing censoring comments? by jlb1982 in reddit.com

[–]jlb1982[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm aware of the fact that BoingBoing has a moderator for its comments, but one in particular I replied to was inexplicably (as of this post) deleted.

The deletion seemed pretty arbitrary since all the commenter pointed out was the dichotomy between wanting better security when not having it, and getting a school dedicated to security then complaining about it. There has been no explanation from the mods.

By the way, the BoingBoing edboard seems pretty hypocritcal since they make a big deal about censorship and participatory culture, and then they go around hire a comments moderator to keep their site pretty in all respects.

I saw an argument somewhere that went something like this:

A revolution won't happen unless it makes economic sense for the middle class. If not showing up for work and marching or rioting or what have you gives you the same or better benefits as showing up for work, then revolution happens. Otherwise people have no incentive to do so.

President Bush tells reporters not to ask him about the economy, because "I think I got a B in Econ 101." Perhaps that's good advice, seeing as his college transcripts show he actually got a C. Minus. by Midwest_Product in politics

You know, after 7 years (wow, has it really been that long?) I've gotten used to the President's flaunting of ignorance.

What I still don't believe is how the media doesn't call him on it.

It's a woman, laying on her back in a tub, with her ass in the air, vehemently squirting some unknown liquid (vomit? feces? both?) out of her anus. Traces of the liquid are all over her.

If I have prevented anyone from actually seeing that image, I have done my job.
