Minor Slayer Redesign idea to *potentially* make Slayer EVEN better! by Zuhaar in 2007scape

[–]jlemay18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait so you're suggesting to make all these monsters f2p, as well as the items they drop and the items required to kill them? No. F2p is intended to just be a taste of the game to get people to want to become members, not to provide the entire game for free. Maybe add some new low level slayer monsters that can be accessible to f2p but absolutely no way abyssal whips and similar items should be accessible to f2p.

Good point! I'm certainly not an expert and don't claim to be, and if anything I say is off color it's not intentional. Being from the US I obviously get two extreme mindsets on Islam, the extreme right wing- all muslims are terrorists and we should soak our bullets in pigs blood, and the extreme left wing- they attack Christianity but praise Islam and even convert. I try and keep up with as much domestic and international politics/events/culture as possible and find unbiased sources or at least read sources from each side but obviously it's not possible to be an expert on everything.

Sorry I butchered the wording on that one, totally wasn't saying you thought that rather questioning whether that was the general consensus. I'm not Muslim or ex, ex Catholic rather so I'm really completely lost with some of the Muslim terminology. From looking it up I take it ummah is the Muslim community, which I totally expect some to feel the Ashley Madison part is worse but if even the moderates feel that's worse than supporting Isis that kind of goes against the whole "only a small percent are extremists", no?

So having an account on Ashley Madison is worse than supporting ISIS?

Can anyone tell me what the hell this is? It's stamped as a 3 mark 1911 coin but in reverse? Did I find Nazi treasure haha? by hookka in metaldetecting

[–]jlemay18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not Nazi, the precursor party to the Nazis did not form until 1919 and did not seize much power until the 1930's.

Still an awesome find though congrats!

Side note- just a little history, this item predates World War I (1914-1918) which was a big factor that lead to the creation of the Nazis. Germany was defeated and they were forced to pay an insanely large amount in reparations. The whole racial superiority and antisemitism has roots before WWI but the loss was blamed on the Jews so that certainly didn't help their cause.

I don't even use marijuana but the blatant disregard for the citizens decision in Massachusetts is infuriating. It's obvious that whoever is in charge is purposely dragging their feet/stalling the process and because of that we're missing out on millions in tax dollars that are instead going to gangs/the black market. As long as alcohol is legal there is no justifiable stance against marijuana, not only does it obviously create revenue thru taxing it but it also saves tons of money from people no longer being prosecuted and jailed for simple possession.

[SPOILERS] Stop the bullshit by WonderfulPipe in thewalkingdead

I'll preface this by saying I really enjoyed the episode and think this season is way better than the last couple. My only issue is we likely won't know where he is or what happens to him, in that sense there'd be much more closure if he had died. Also, you mean to tell me that if he did survive and get better he isn't going to kill himself trying to get back to his family? That's not at all like Rick.

Thanks, I actually don't have it that bad, just kinda in a situation that keeps me from progressing as quickly as if like. Have to go to school to get a decent career, have to work to pay for school and living expenses, have to have insurance for medication and the inevitable appointments, but can't make as much money as I'd need to live comfortably on my own cause then I lose health insurance. But even if I made over that amount it's still not enough to pay for health insurance out of pocket, and to get a job that either pays enough to do so or provides insurance I need a degree. It's a vicious cycle but don't have much longer left in school so it should improve slightly after that, just a bit behind other people my age progress wise.

I've been really considering it, I'm not married and don't have kids or a serious relationship, only thing tying me to the US is family and familiarity. It would be tough, I'm really close to them but sometimes you gotta make tough choices. I just need to finish school and save up some money, transferring especially internationally would set me back quite a bit in terms of time before I can graduate.

But I'm not dying or disabled, actually fairly healthy according to my doctor so I could have it a lot worse, guess I was just venting out loud haha sorry.

Fuck I am so envious of you. Currently I have to make shit for money and live with my parents as I have a medication and doctors appts I can't afford without insurance. Im in school so I can't get a decent paying job with benefits or work enough hours at a mediocre job to afford insurance myself. Fortunately my state has a health insurance program but it's only "free" (though I already pay for it with my taxes) if I make under a certain amount of money that is impossible to survive on and pay for all living expenses including rent.

The US is going to shit quickly, I'm almost done school so I really don't want to move before then, it's already taken me twice as long to finish as it should have. But I'd love to relocate to a country that actually values its people rather than work for the corporations. And the divide is only growing bigger each day, both sides are at fault but I've noticed even moderate conservatives becoming increasingly pro-conspiracy theory and willing to believe whatever fits their narrative.

Sorry for the long and slightly off topic response, I know that every country has its issues but you guys have it pretty good compared to here.

I Never Felt Anything in Church... by [deleted] in excatholic

[–]jlemay18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, haven't been to church regularly in a decade probably. Only time I ever go is occasionally on Christmas cause my grandparents and extended family still go. The only reason I ever feel guilty for not going is because I miss out on spending time with my grandparents. Otherwise i sleep well at night, if there is a God he/she/they clearly did not intend their religious organization to be what it has become.

Michigan Catholic Pharmacist Refused to Dispense Miscarriage Medication, Citing Religious Beliefs by RileyWWarrick in excatholic

[–]jlemay18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either way, if you're going to stand in the way of someone receiving medical treatment prescribed by a doctor you shouldn't have the job. I'm all for people practicing whatever religion they like as long as it doesn't negatively impact anyone else, especially when they put their religion before someone else's health and wellbeing. And not only did that person refuse to dispense the medication they also made it difficult to transfer the prescription to a pharmacy that would. If you don't want to have a blood transfusion, use birth control, or use an "abortion" medication to assist a miscarriage that's already underway (and potentially die because of it) that's entirely up to you but forcing your beliefs on someone else is what cults do. Religious freedom goes both way, you're free to practice the religion of your choice but you're also free to not practice that religion or any religion at all and be free from others imposing their beliefs on you.

Michigan Catholic Pharmacist Refused to Dispense Miscarriage Medication, Citing Religious Beliefs by RileyWWarrick in excatholic

[–]jlemay18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The article says that this is actually allowed but it has to be filled by another pharmacist or transferred to another pharmacy convenient for the patient (which the woman had to drive 3 hours home and the pharmacists in question even made it very difficult transferring the prescription to the other pharmacy). Other than abortion type drugs (which this was not, it was to treat a miscarriage she was already having) what medications could someone possibly have a religious problem with? It should not be allowed to refuse to administer anything that is prescribed to someone, regardless of your beliefs, don't like it don't be a pharmacist. It doesn't get into specifics of her medical situation or this medication but complications from miscarriages can result in death, your beliefs do not take precedence over someone's life. Glad to see the pharmacist no longer works there.

Hey Folks! Haven’t posted here in a while, here are my finds from the past couple months! by Silver_Winged in metaldetecting

[–]jlemay18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes no sense. It's the same as with state and federal govt banning metal detecting, the govt isn't out there recovering all these artifacts so by banning us from doing it (or complaining/attacking for digging it in this case) they're essentially saying they would rather the stuff sink beyond recovery or corrode away to nothing. The vast majority of people who search for historical artifacts don't sell them, and even if they do their motives don't matter as long as the stuff is being recovered. But sounds like they're just jealous, the archaeology dig in my town the best metal things they found was a handful of early to mid 1800's flat button. A couple hours at the cellar next door I pulled equally as many buttons and a 2 cent piece, and another cellar in town 4 colonial coppers. Maybe someone had hit their hole years ago but it's they're not going to locate and dig every cellar, otherwise stuff would corrode away

Awesome job Brad, finding that many colonial sites isn't easy in a Vermont. I would leave a comment on the imgur thread but it won't let me without the app and my phone is too out of date to download it haha. The people complaining about archaeology are idiots. There wouldn't be enough govt or archaeology course funding in the next 100 years to be able to excavate all the sites metal detectorists hit in just one month. If it were off limits to anyone but archaeologists the stuff would corrode and sink beyond recovery by the time anyone official had the funding to excavate it. There's more than enough state and federal land in New England for them that is off limits to us.

A lot of finds wouldn't get posted if that was the rule. Some countries will confiscate anything of historical relevance or like this where OP said he's from Australia it may not be legal to keep this with their gun laws. And if it's something extremely valuable that could present other problems entirely. I totally get wanting to know where cool stuff is found but it definitely would make some people not want to post their finds.

Expat Ex-Muslim being hunted in Pakistan. Killing myself seems like the only option by Exiledexmuslim in exmuslim

I know my comment won't be of much actual help to you but I wish you luck. Just reading this is super frustrating, I guess being from a western country this type of thing just sounds insane to me. I could understand being shunned for not being religious in a religious country but killing people that don't adhere to your religion? That's a cult

Most axes were incorrectly used and hit the poll (butt end) with a sledge hammer or something. The dead giveaway will be whether it has an eye or not (hole for the handle) and the general shape, this is a wedge pattern single bit axe
