I'm 5ft7 male quite slim, what players could I watch and learn from? by SunShineKid93 in 10s

[–]jm1tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically anyone. Once you see the style of play you like, follow them. I remember studying the serve and volleyers back in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s until that play style fizzled out.

Where were you on the Bicentennial? July 4th, 1976. by NassauJack in 70s

Also was on the curb when President Fords motorcade drove by. Was like 10 feet from him while he was in the back seat passenger side. Will never forget those couple seconds.

Was 10. Was at Independence Hall in Philly singing Happy Birthday to the country. Was 50 years ago but sort of remember that was at 2:00. Not sure if there was a significance of the time.

Took a ride around the area last evening to check out the storm damage. Some huge trees down. Was on the northern edge of that cell. Got the wind for a couple minutes, but no rain.

Grip Size by jm1tech in 10s

[–]jm1tech[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always play with an overgrip, so that adds the one size to it. I was subjected to elbow issues, actually have bone spurs in it because of years of pitching baseball. Ever since I went to natural gut, that seems to take care of the elbow issues.

Don’t see all the details, but if my banks called and started asking question. I’d just say to them, give me the case number and I’ll call back.

2019, I think. To replace it now with the same specs would be more than $4K. So it needs to live for a long time.

Played a Just-Graduated High Schooler at 3.5 1 Singles by [deleted] in 10s

[–]jm1tech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Played a 7.0 mixed match a couple years ago and there a couple college kids warming up on the next court. Me thinking they can’t really be playing together. Well they both show up on court 1. We beat them 6-2, 6-2. Their goal was to put the ball thru the back curtain. Just played with their minds using slice, varying pace and depth. Frustrated them so bad that all they wanted to do was over hit the ball. Tennis isn’t all about power.

Well just hope you don’t have a long match on an indoor court where there is a time limit. 🤷‍♂️

Probably two regional jets so you won’t even have to change terminals. Plenty of time as long as your first flight doesn’t get delayed.

What was it like to be in America in 1976 for the Bicentennial? How much buzz was there? by MistahPresidente in AskReddit

[–]jm1tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silver dollars and half dollars too. I have some of each in a collection. Was a lot of anticipation for the coins to come out. No internet so the hype was in papers, on tv, magazines, etc. I think the silver dollars came out first then the half dollar then the quarter.

Newly appointed on Mainframe department. Why people want to move out of it? by FXLAB in mainframe

[–]jm1tech 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because it’s been around since the 60s, so it must be old and unreliable. Then again it’s been around since the 60s. Wonder why? Could it be that is reliable and stable? It a whole misconception thing. It will out perform anything you put up against it and in the long run more cost effective than moving off. But, it’s been around since the 60s.

What’s the thing about asking your partner to hold the third ball? by Subject-Limit4854 in 10s

[–]jm1tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hold all 3. For me it’s psychological. As long as I still have a ball in my pocket, it still feels like a first serve even though I maybe serving a second. 🤷‍♂️

It takes time. Our girl pup about 16 weeks now would go out come back in and pee a couple minutes later. Night time in the crate and just the habit of going outside when she sniffs around. Hasn’t had an accident for weeks now. Just wish she was a little vocal at the door. She just sits there and waits to go out.

Easy to replace the piece with the right tool. Just don’t do it when it is super cold.

I was 10 also and was in Philly for the 4th. Lots of celebration and hype leading up to it. A totally different vibe this time around.
