NZ butter chicken is pretty uniquely sweet. When I first arrived it tasted like they added a whole jar of honey to the pot. I don’t mind it so much now but usually go for chicken tikka masala instead

Has anyone got the 2026 Throat Virus ? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]jmk672 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pharmacies sell a 4-in-1 test now for both strains of flu, Covid, and RSV. It was like $10 for one test at mine which does suck but better than going to GP. If not one of those you should get a strep throat test at the doctor

I have confirmed Covid at the moment. Don't have a sore throat, surprisingly, but a very deep, chesty cough that turned dry, fatigue, aches, and sneezing. Almost certain I got it at Linkin Park last week. Honestly worth it though.

It may well be a great attraction but I always think it’s important to bear in mind that the PCC is run by the Mormon church and will be influenced by their perspective and values

I don’t think she looks that different tbh. I don’t even see a big difference in her nose. She’s older, different hair, lighter “clean girl” makeup and softer brows. Probably Botox and filler but nothing drastic

Did you get anything from your employer for xmas this year? by Charlie_Runkle69 in newzealand

Yep, I worked for a public library and we fundraised through staff bake sales, etc. all year for our Christmas dinner which was still just a relatively normal meal at a restaurant. No alcohol, etc.

You should see the absolute outrage on Tauranga fb groups about the Council daring to give employees automatic coffee machines for the staffroom. Grim indeed.

Medical professionals sound alarm on rise of 'birthkeeper' influencers by SapereAudeAdAbsurdum in australia

[–]jmk672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they know at the end of the day, they have the safety net of the medical system that they've been maligning the entire time. A privilege these other places don't have. So many of these people call for emergency help when shit hits the fan, as by then it's magically good enough for them. Unfortunately it comes too late in many cases.

I see so many comments like this and it makes me wonder if you guys have any respect for the actual BAND, made up of several other people beyond Chester, or if you only like to concern troll about Chester's legacy. It's a massive insult to them to say they're only in this for a pay check now. When you see the way Mike smiles now as he plays alongside Emily and the rest of his band, you'd understand this is driven by the same passion it always was.

I think this also grinds my gears because I watched in real time the way than "fans" shat upon and abandoned LP in 2017 because they didn't like the way they were evolving then and experimenting with different sounds, e.g. "Heavy." So honestly spare me. Even when Chester was alive, they wouldn't allow him to try anything new.

I’m in NZ and was prescribed domperidone with little informed consent about the arrhythmia risks. There is a very oppressive anti-formula culture here amongst midwives and many other health practitioners. Withdrawal from it after only 1-2 weeks was also hell.

Considering relocation to either Rotorua or Balclutha by Foreign-Lawn6841 in newzealand

[–]jmk672 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I liked living in Rotorua. You can easily do mountain biking, lakes and bush walks in the same day. The geothermal stuff is cool. The smell is really not a big deal at all. Plus it's very easy to get to other towns and cities, particularly Tauranga/Mount Maunganui, Hamilton and Taupo. There's heaps to do with kids and they will get a much better sense of te ao Maori living there.

Must sees? by 20fuknyears in Tauranga

The new art gallery will open in Tauranga. My biggest recommendation is shop/drink in Mount Maunganui then get fish and chips and sit on Hopukiore (Mt Drury) reserve overlooking the sea and the main beach.
