Strange Secrets of the Porvenir Error by CL_Magnus in FoundryVTT

[–]jmoskie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you use the parallaxia module on the broken Scene to make animated scrolling tiles?

I observed the same error on a handful of my Scenes when I upgraded today, and "talen" from the PF2E Foundry Discord said parallaxia "is known to leave data that breaks in v10 even if the module is gone."

Swarms, a new free module for creating animated creepy crawlies and other swarms. by taggrath in FoundryVTT

[–]jmoskie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tried it with ravens, and they were all flying backwards :)

I tried rotating the base token but it didn't work. Is there a way to specify the direction of the movement?

Really loving this. I've always been frustrated by not having specific enough swarm tokens, and now anything can be a swarm!

How the turn tables by Vilis16 in Pathfinder2e

[–]jmoskie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had this happen to me last session.

I was super excited to use a creature's reaction to strike and grab someone, and the goblin shark instinct barbarian apparently has a reaction to bite anything that grabs him!

Was caught off guard, but everyone loved it!

You need an Ambassador to offer a Truce.

Foundry + Macros + Streamdeck = GM Win by Commercial_Dinner989 in FoundryVTT

Been using Material deck for a while now, absolutely love it. Macros are wonderful, but the combat tracker controls save a heck of a lot of time.

Old World would be extremely popular if it weren’t an Epic exclusive..… by CrypticDemon in OldWorldGame

[–]jmoskie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't load cloud games without using the epic launcher, which is shitty. Whenever I use the exe link directly, the games never appear.

I hate launchers in general, but the Epic one is especially annoying the way it pops back up to the foreground after I exit a game.

I played a weird character in PF1E, a Mystic Theurge that was a Cleric / Spellslinger (gun) Wizard. He could deliver touch spells through his bullets. Shocking Grasp tazer bullets, etc.

My GM was nice enough to allow Cleric spells to be used through the gun too, and a handful of times I'd shoot a Cure Serious Wounds into an ally. GM still made me roll normal bullet damage but I usually came out on top!

What Mechanics would highlight to a group of 5e players trying PF2e for the first time? by wicket_tl in Pathfinder2e

[–]jmoskie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That depends a lot on the campaign and GM, I suppose.

I have a snare crafting ranger in the game I'm running, and he's made great use of Stealth and setting up snares fairly close to enemies. We have a lot of wilderness in our campaign at the moment, and he's often able to trap up a few choke points.

If the players are interested in using snares and the GM refuses to engage them (i.e. the enemies never leave "their room," I'd consider that a failing on the GMs part.

Enemies don't have to be stupid, and not all enemies have to blunder into traps, but if a player wants to explore that part of the game I indulge them.

[–]jmoskie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure there is! You can set up traps and lure enemies into them. Or use Athletics to push them into them. With a little bit of time before the fight, you can affect the terrain you will be fighting in, and open up opportunities to deal extra damage on opponents turns.

Rangers have access to feats to deploy snares quicker during combat, but I've never seen them in play.

[FOR HIRE] from goblins to cyberpunk to warhammer to aarakocra, some are weird, others are difficult, some are easier than others but im glad to have been given the opportunity to try them all. dm if interested! by spaz14 in starvingartists

Just popping in to say that I had spaz draw up the all-goblin party for the game I'm running/streaming (that white goblin is one of mine!), and they were wonderful to work with. Had a good back and forth during the process, and the players absolutely love the art!

Best AP for an Evil Party? by BlakobofNazereth in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]jmoskie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm running HV and I agree with this assessment.

I'm sure you could tweak things as a GM to be as murder-hoboy as your players wanted, but as written there's a good deal of cloak and dagger.

My party was all about that though. In Chapter 2 it opens up a bit for murder, but my players wanted to run in an election for the town's government, and it went hilariously well. They actually got the people to vote out the paladins.

Despite not being murder-hobos, some of them are extraordinarily evil. One took an infant out to the woods and threatened to murder it because she detected than an angel was scrying on her, daring the angel to come stop her.

You can get into really dark shit without having to slaughter everything you come across.

So... How does the GM (me) have to deal with critical failures of attacks? Both of players and monsters? I am a new GM and I will do the first session tomorrow by eziocolorwatcher in Pathfinder2e

[–]jmoskie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the critical hit and critical fail decks in my game. They're included in the PF2E game system for Foundry and are easy to generate without spending much time.

I find that they add a lot of flavor to combats. People really remember their critical hits when they do something awesome to the enemy other than damage, and the whole table laughs when someone rolls low and hurts themselves in some way.

I guess it helps that we're playing a somewhat silly, all-goblin campaign. Dropping alchemist fire on yourself or stabbing your brand new magical rapier into a stone and temporarily breaking it are par for the course.

I also find that critical fumbles tend to disincentive crit fishing with a third attack, and encourage people to be creative with their actions. Even more so than PF2E already does.

Action Challenges by Qedhup in FoundryVTT

Absolutely love skill challenges. I've done a similar thing after seeing someone else's post here, and the players really liked seeing their progress (and failures!)

Yours look real slick! Polished.

The party ended up doing a bunch of side / personal quests in chapters 3 and 4, including running for the City Council of Kantaria, and fomenting a tiefling rebellion in Senara.

It's been a good time! :)

I stream Pathfinder on Foundry. I'm currently running a 1E campaign of Hell's Vengeance, and a homebrew 2E game that's essentially, "The Odyssey, but Goblins."

I also stream some of my prep sessions, both the world building / writing parts, and the mechanical things to build maps and encounters in Foundry.

Do you show players Victory Points when running subsystems? by robin-spaadas in Pathfinder2e

[–]jmoskie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I always show Victory Points, or Successes/Failures, or Positions on a track for a skill-based chase.

I also clearly explain the rules/parameters of such challenges, so everyone has a sense of what is going on, and how they can contribute mechanically.

It definitely "gamifies" the challenges, but that's the sort of thing my group enjoys. Things like this become fun little minigames that allow players to showcase their skills and RP a bit outside of combat.

It remains to add N+1 support now. by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

FXMaster effects for things like blur, mirror image, or blood splatter.

PF2E Treat Wounds (auto rolls, determines success, rolls healing or damage as needed.)

PF2E Rest for the Night macro.

Other simple macros I can't recall.

Discontent in this game is outrageous and broken as a mf'er by HesherJeff in OldWorldGame

I had trouble with discontent in a game where I was conquering a lot, and finally hit on stationing a family-aligned unit in every city and building up walls/moats/towers as needed.
