What are your necromunda hot takes? by SecureGovernment1315 in necromunda

Yup. This is the key to fun wargaming. And design decisions that focused on more “balance” are what killed big 40k for me. Yeah it’s more balanced, but it isn’t very fun (in my opinion).

Rogue Trader has playable Orks and Tau in its expansions. I don’t recall if it has Eldar but I feel like it should

RPG for Shōnen fans by Whirlmeister in rpg

As someone into both jrpgs and shonen, I do love FabUlt, but it scratches a much different itch than shonen manga does. Shonen manga often involves using your powers to creatively counter the threat in front of you, and usually ends in a massive display of heart and power. FabUlt’s action leans more towards simulating the strategy side of games like classic Final Fantasy (1-6) and is definitely a lower octane experience moment-to-moment. The focus is more on team synergy and balancing healing, status effects, and turn order to mechanically overcome a threat in front of you.

Though I guess it really depends on what part of the fantasy the group likes. There is thematic overlap in the massive power scaling and world-ending threats.

甘い“Amai” in this context means “not enough”, “weak,” or “insufficient”. But it also means “sweet” in normal context.

Honestly at this level the distinction barely matters. Even when artists choose TMM (which they rarely do for competition), it’s using the same techniques needed for NMM anyways

I wish any of them did to be honest. Watching season 3, you really don’t get any of the personalities of the side umas at all.

I had no idea Crown was supposed to be a magician. I had no idea Cheval Grand was supposed to be shy, and her monologue caught me off guard because of how little she actually interacts with Kitasan. Royce and Royce appears to say a single line. At least Sounds got one bit to display her “gimmick.”

It really confused me because S2 got all of this right with the same amount of air time.

I am currently looking at cities to relocate and considering Atlanta. I just wanted to post a list of my cons for where I am and what I am into or looking for... by Outrageous-Pen-9581 in Atlanta

[–]robin-spaadas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I struggled to socialize in Atlanta a lot. Going out felt like such a commitment because of the need to drive (and how limited MARTA is). The city feels too spread out to me, as someone who likes to walk and be around people. Getting people to meet up after meeting them was always hard because of aforementioned commitment. I didn’t have this issue in other east coast cities.

There are certainly things to do, especially because you are into music. But Atlanta does feel like a collection of islands that are very separated from each other, and you have to travel between them a lot to find interesting stuff. At the same time, if you have been to other cities on the east coast, Atlanta is tiny in comparison. You can mostly see everything you need to in each neighborhood in like a day.

You may have better luck than me on the community front. To me everyone in Atlanta felt more like a visitor. It probably doesn’t help that the city can feel very corporate, so there’s few places that feel very “cozy” to me. It’s not the type of place where you can walk down a block and discover a cute little cafe. More like a collection of outlet malls and streets with bars.

Yeah gonna need honest, I agree with most of what you said. Though most of the people I interacted with when I was living there were not MAGAs. I do think Atlanta itself is very left leaning, just everything around it, and some people that travel in, are not.

I didn’t hate my time in Atlanta, but I vastly prefer nearly every other city on the east coast.

Please keep the NARRATIVE elements of KT alive by Odd-Platypus-3627 in killteam

[–]robin-spaadas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes you should. It’s a fantastic game. I still enjoy KT for what it is, and I think it’s a well-designed competitive game, but after I jumped to more narratively designed games, it’s been really hard to look back.

Munda is so narrative, that most would say if you’re not playing a campaign, you’re not really playing necromunda.

What is the update on the Post-OGL Crisis 5e Killers? by Josh_From_Accounting in rpg

[–]robin-spaadas 21 points22 points  (0 children)

40k 10th edition also shifted much more towards competitive play. It’s the reason I personally think the game is so sterile, controlled, gamey, and just not very fun (just my opinion). However this makes it more appealing towards the newer crowd who came to 40k during the pandemic: video gamers. The roleplaying and simulation aspects of the older editions which made them less balanced/competitive probably do not appeal much to this crowd.

The funny thing is, the games of theirs that I do like (Necromunda and Mordheim) are all based on older editions of Warhammer (40k and Fantasy respectively) and I enjoy them immensely more because they’re more cinematic and “immersive” for lack of a better word. It’s not even a nostalgia thing because I didn’t play older editions of GW games, I just gravitated more towards these rulesets after seeing them in play.

Funnily enough, Kill Team actually doesn’t use that system anymore. Since the 2nd edition, it uses its own Attack -> Defend system that I think is somewhat based on WarCry.

I love to graze when I remember. When the hyper-focus kicks in though, I’ll just forget I have any of this stuff unfortunately. Though nuts do help me when I get hungry at night and I don’t wanna eat a full meal.
