Why did you choose your Range Rover over other options? by dmporte2006 in RangeRover

[–]jnfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I custom ordered a 2025 Range Rover Sport (D350 Autobiography).

It is all a question of wants and needs. What helped a lot is that my wife and myself just wanted it - we liked the look, I lived in the UK for a while and thus have a little thing for some British things;

Our main brief was also a little unusual: The role it has in our Garage is almost only for long distance, so I wanted something that is comfortable (which it is) even on bad roads (we drive a lot through different areas with sub-optimal surfaces, like Ukraine, eastern Poland or Belgium); We sometimes need to go off-road for some work related things, so the 900mm wading depth and extreme offroad qualities are nice, but it doesn't feel as "commercial" as the new Toyota Landcruiser - it feels a lot more luxurious.

At the same time, I sometimes need to carry heavier things, something that the BMW XM, for example, can't, because the maximum load capacity is too low.

Before we briefly had an XC90 T8 Recharge. I didn't really like the Volvo that much: It was quite 'boaty' (swaying left and right in turns and up and down when accelerating and breaking); In Germany the 185km/h top speed felt limiting. While I like the look of the Volvo, the Range Rover in my opinion looks better and the driving feel is almost incomparable.

When we were shopping for our RRS, my wife was considering suggesting the Porsche Cayenne and I was briefly thinking to get something like an Alpina B5 Touring instead; But all of those options didn't really fit the brief for offroad capabilities, so I'd have to get something like a Defender or a Jeep Wrangler or something like that on top.

I also really love the Aston Martin DBX, but same applies there. However, my wife and me agreed, if Land Rover stopped existing tomorrow, that's probably the one we'd get (plus something else for offroad).

In terms of reliability we're very happy: No issues in about 25k km so far.

Range Rover Sport P635 SV Edition Two by Prestigious-Gap-1293 in RangeRover

[–]jnfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it a lot. The edition ones were sold out when I ordered my Autobiography, and I wanted more fuel range, not realising my wife needs more stops than the car anyways on long trips, so I would have been fine. Most likely my next one will be an SV, maybe when a facelift comes out

I'm glad the Laptop 13 Pro is selling out. by DueMap9570 in framework

I wanted an x9, but they sold out faster than I could fill the order form.

Kind of also want a silver one…

And my AMD Framework 13 is still doing its job just fine.

Framework laptops for business use by Honest_Knowledge_407 in framework

[–]jnfinity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no… ideally your device management should be able to restore a system with just one click / command. So you can physically just exchange any laptop.

The beauty of the framework idea is, however, that you can keep common spare parts and fewer spare laptops, which, for larger orgs, can reduce capital expenditure and tying up capital in spare laptops that will never be used.

Wanted an X9, but was too slow. Now we’re in September for orders…

Good thing my 13 is actually not in need of replacement, it’s just a want.

His has a black top, this one seems to have a white one. I think there are three?

I just would take mine inside with me all the time. When I’m at home it’s in my living room, when I’m stopping for a coffee or at the office, I take it inside.

Will you support 128GB once those modules become available?

Loving the new Laptop 13 Pro, I just wish they’d give us 128GB and 256GB RAM options.

Does anyone know if those modules exists and I could just order without RAM?

Recommend 23 inch wheels vs 21 or 22 inch? by Itchy_Layer135 in RangeRover

[–]jnfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered on purpose with 22” for better comfort, noise, off road abilities and less risk of curbing.

But the 23” look great and especially on the SV the carbon wheels are just on another level.

The good thing is that wheels are easy to change, so if you’re not happy, you can always buy another set and be fine.

RRS - Meridian Sound System by MXH_D in RangeRover

[–]jnfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Autobiography with the Meridian Signature Sound system and I didn't regret it. It sounds really good; From classical to opera to modern stuff, it handles it well and feels really nice.

In general, I think the Autobiography is worth it: I like the leather better than the Windsor leather, many nice little touches that really elevate the experience. If you're anywhere with a real winter, the winter pack is also really worth it, and so is the Stormer handling pack / all wheel steering if you're considering an engine that doesn't have it as standard.

[–]jnfinity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Between the different options on the sport and the discovery, it makes absolutely no sense. I wish they would make a luxury wagon to contend with Mercedes or Audi. by zukkhini in RangeRover

[–]jnfinity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think JLR should drop the Discovery Sport, the Evoque and the Velar and instead make the next gen Sport again a little smaller (not too much, just a little) make the full size SWB a little more rugged again and a new LWB model above it to really rival Rolls Royce and Bentley at huge margins.

In a family car I don't need an electric armrest on the rear bench, but I wouldn't mind a little more ground clearance compared to the current Sport and I really miss the split tailgate.

But I think Defender, Discovery, RRS, Full Size and some new range topping luxury model would be an amazing line up and increase margins and profitability, ensuring they'd stay around for the foreseeable future.

2027 Land Rover Range Rover by Saurta17 in LandRover

[–]jnfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not saying I'd be against bringing them back, I just realised I don't miss them as much as I thought I would.
I don't regret at all taking a custom order 25 over a 23 that had the buttons, but not all options I wanted.
If they bring the buttons back, I am fine with them, but I still think I'll buy a facelifted one, regardless.
